Today was invited for Japanese food treat. So visited Causeway and at level 5. Go for this resturant, we ordered 2 special set. Katsutake Tai nabe gozen and Ichiban Gozen. Both are popular demand LOL. Serving was faster than we expect. The taste of soup got Katsutake Tai Nabe Gozen is just nice and sweet. It keep warm in hotpot. The Combination of fresh Salmon , prawns, vegetables and smoked duck meat on top of sushi rice pizza. Ichiban Gozen is also one of popular dish. Salmon sashimi, assosrted tempera and favorite eel fish meat with special sauce. This set is also one of my recommendation if you visit this shop. This places was my 2nd visit this year and atmosphere is still great for dining. Must visit. continue reading

I've never quite liked spending money at Japanese restaurant chains such as Sakae or Shintokyo, as I dislike sacrificing quality just for cheaper food. But Ichiban Boshi is a different story altogether! My friend dragged me to the outlet at Causeway Point, Woodlands for a meal and the food was really good! They have the usual wide variety of Japanese food ranging from bentos to udons, sashimi to sushi, but if you grab one of their sets its really money well spent! My friend took Kaisen Salad, which is basically salad with sashimi and just look at that generous heap of sashimi! Presentation of the salad was very nice, with thr salad's portion was decent and fresh. Apart from the big portion of sashimi given, the sashimi was very fresh and tasty, and especially sweet given the cheap price of $9.90.This set was basically a delight for a carb-lover like myself! Again, presentation was a very big plus point. A big bowl of cold soba and a bowl of oyako don really made my day. THe oyako don was really well made with the egg being very chewy and the chicken just delicious. A plate of sashimi topped off the meal along with a small slice of tofu although at that point I was already really full. If these items aren't what you crave, Ichiban Boshi has plenty of other sets that have a variety of items that would suit your taste. The sushi is pretty basic and similar to other Japense restaurants with the conveyor belt concept. If you're a light eater like my friend, you can just grab the salad with one or two plates of sushi to complete your meal!Ichiban Boshi is pretty much found all over Singapore and it has a rewards card that can be used to collect chops with each meal that will contribute to free food items. This card can be used for other partner organisations as well including Ichiban sushi, Yakiyaki bo and Green Pumpkin Bakery! Of course, a downisde of eating at Ichiban Boshi is that the restaurant can be pretty packed during dinner time, so do come early if possible, but then again a wait is well worth it! continue reading

First time trying out their bento dinner I didn't know that Ichiban has now got another sub under Ichiban Boshi! They have sushi, udon and this wadori bento I decide to try their pre set C, of course you can choose your own yakitori sticks too if you don't want their pre set!My Set C consists of rice, 2 chicken yakitori sticks, 1 fried ebi stick and 1 chicken ball stick Overall i find that it's not bad for the price!Love the yakitori especially the chicken balls, they were grilled deliciously A great and inexpensive way to end the weekend continue reading

This was my first time dining at ichiban boshi, and i ordered a Stir fried beef with rice bento. As it was a value meal, it was priced only at $7.90. The rice was normal white rice, quite soft and sticky. The beef was stir fried with caramelised onions and a piece of lettuce. Personally, i feel that the beef was a tad too sweet and drenched in too much sauce. Their side dish which consists of lotus was nice and crunchy. Overall, the food was average. Maybe i will try their assorted sushi and sashimi next time! continue reading
