Signature Dishes
Having grown up in the land that created fish and chips I quite often need a fix. Today I stumbled across Long John Slivers. Looking at the menu it narrowed down to the two piece fish combo or the two piece dory combo. When I asked the staff what was the difference between the two she replied one is a fish (dory) and the other is a shape, which made my decision easier, fish. The dory combo meal with fries and drink came very quickly and was hot. At first glance the chips didn’t look good very however when I did eat them they were nice and crunch, they tasted better than they looked. Only complaint is there should be a more. Now for the fish, the batter doesn’t quite have the same texture as the fish and chips from U.K. And the fish which was a good sized portion was little tough. Overall it just edged in at three stars as my fix for fish and fries (I’ve come to accept that it’s difficult to get chips in Asia) was just about satisfied. In addition to my complaint about the portion size of the fries is that the carton that the fish and fries came in was too small, there isn’t sufficient space to cut the fish. And on the subject of cutting the fish the plastic knife was too soft and kept on bending. This is the same in a lot of places and I guess instead of complaining I should carry with me a travel cutlery set which would more environmentally friendly. I marked hygiene as two as the tables even though wiped still has bits of food laying around. And also the floor had lots of shoe prints.

It has really been ages since we visited Long John Silver's, so I was really excited about going there again. However, it wasn't the most memorable of visits!The main problem started with the ordering! The staff at the counter seemed to find it so difficult to explain himself and communicate in simple English. It was really frustating to have to keep repeating myself!There was an additional soup to top up a meal - Clam Chowder.Though it smelt good, it didn't taste as good after a few sips.As for the food - Chicken and Prawns, it was ok. The batter was not too thick and the chicken and prawns had been well dipped and fried.Somehow, I remember the taste being very different in the past and realised that it had been quite a while since our last visit.The fries were not crispy; instead they were soft and soggy!The salad was just ok, it was not fresh and you could tell that it had just come out of the refrigerator - because it was icy cold! The crunchy bits were a welcome sight - those were still there.At Long John's we always longed to bite on those tiny, crunchy pieces of batter, and we were grateful to see those on our plates.Overall, it wasnt like the good old days, but it wasnt that bad, either.I do hope that the staff wil be given more training.

went down for dinner at nex couple of months ago, since everywhere was packed so ended up having long john for dinner. the store was having this new promotion about the seafood + chicken combo so i ordered it to share with my girlfriend. the portion was relatively large and my favourite was the fried fish fillet. however as usual with all the long john outlets, the waiting time was way too long for both ordering and waiting for the food

Visited this long john for 2 time and i encounter the same problem. The air con in this long john is not cooling enough as i'm eating and i'm also sweating. Other than this problem i also encounter them serving me cold fries that is no longer crispy, but the staff is very friendly and i told them about this cold fries and they make a change and serve me a new hot fries to my table without me standing to wait at the counter..Service is good but i think there's much more room for improvement for the serving of hot dish to the customer.overall rate: Service is good
