Located at the V junction of Sin Ming road is Thomson V2, it is both residential and commercial. There's a few cafes, waffle places and this one and only bingsu shop. The inside of the cafe, seats about 7 pax. Water and napkins are placed outside, to avoid the cramped interior. They have an LCD screen playing new kpop music videos1. Egglet waffle with honeycomb and caramel sauce $7.90I asked the staff what were the flavours for the waffle and she couldn't really tell me, because it wasn't on the menu. I had to take out my phone and refer to the groupon page to see what combinations I could get.Toppings (choose 1):MangoBlackberryCheesecakeHoney combCookieSauce (choose 1):White chocolateChocolateCaramelMangoCinnamonand I really wasn't expecting the waffle to be served on a plate, but more like wrapped up and hand held, like the picture on groupon.link : http://www.groupon.sg/deals/singapore/nunkkot-korean-desert-cafe-7/721444592Nevertheless, the corners of the egglet waffle was crispy. The waffle in the center turned soggy due to the honey which is fine. The honey comb tasted more like cardboard. This was a no go for me. I wouldn't pay $7.90 for this, but at $4 with a groupon, that's okay.2. Choco brownie Bingsu $18.90My guy friends are chocolate lovers and they wanted this chocolate brownie one. We have tried bingsu from other places before and this just wasn't good enough. The ice cream was okay. The shaved milk/ice was alright. I was okay with it. It was mainly flavourless, and hence I would just recommend going with the mango bingsu. Which according to the staff was a more popular item. The brownies were rock hard and the lady boss mentioned that the cheesecakes were made in house by their "sifu", so I guess he's chinese? But the brownie? She didn't mention anything about it, so probably from a vendor outside. The almonds were okay and the bananas were sweet, other than that. skip this.3. Mango cheesecake $18.90I'm so glad we went with the staff recommendation. There were lots of cubed mango and maybe 5 cubed cheesecakes, which they should've been more generous with. The mangoes were sweet with a mango syrup all around them.As the bingsu melted, the mango juice/syrup pretty much made this entire bowl, a giant mango ice juice. It was refreshing and nice. I liked it!The bingsu was soft and pillowy. But at $18.90 a bowl, it's pretty pricey, but this shop does have groupon deals and entertainer 1 for 1 app, so do check out those offers. They will make the visit more worthwhile.4. Egglet waffle with oreo and white chocolate sauce $7.90This was a deliciously crispy egg waffle that I enjoed. The white chocolate syrup with oreo crumbs was a great choice. I highly recommend this combination.Overall : the lady boss said that they are moving to Novena and I hope for their sake that they improve their bingsu quality of ingredients and their dining concept as a Korean dessert stall. continue reading
