Soup Restaurant is Chinese restaurant rich in Oriental decor and served by polite crew, Soup Restaurant offers a variety of Chinese dishes at reasonable prices. Lately, they let patrons have the choice of choosing between the a la carte menu or steamboat buffet (the latter at SGD$26.90++ per pax). We decided to go for a la carte.Dinner began with Samsui Chicken (SGD$17.90 for small), neatly chopped tender, moistened steamed chicken arranged artfully with cucumber sliced around the plate, and served with their special pound ginger dip. Tasty and succulent, I actually liked it a lot better this time round. Then Sweet Sour Pork with Pineapple (SGD$12.90), consisting of small pieces of crispy pork marinated to give it a nice tangy taste. For full review and more detailed information, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2016/05/dinner-at-soup-restaurant.html continue reading

Soup restaurant has good soup. The double boiled soup of the day is always good. But that’s also dependent on outlet. It seems this one at Toa Payoh has our vote on their soups with all our visits. But the one at City Square Mall could do a lot more. Perhaps actually start with an extended boiling on their soup. The last time we had an order of Old Cucumber and Pork Ribs, the flavour of the ingredients were not actually boiled through. Sigh. But the chicken never fails whichever outlet you're at. Some days I wonder if it’s the juicy flavoured chicken, the crisp crunchy green lettuce cut into the cutest circles or the ginger sauce. Actually, all three of these make for the perfect chicken dining experience. Now if they would only serve chicken rice… And the good thing is, they have takeaway on their ginger sauces. Eat it with anything. Or cook it with anything. The last I tried was steamed chicken and chicken rice. Just mixing this in was an attempt at feeling like i was dining at Soup Restaurant. On the days when the craving hits. continue reading

Fried sweet potato leaves is one of the signature dish from Soup Restaurant.Ah po sweet potato leaves is a non spicy dish. If you like spicy, perhaps you can order ah gong sweet potato leaves which they fried with spicy shrimp paste.I like their oyster sauce. A very simple dish become so amazing. Their sweet potato leaves are young, not old one which can be quite tough when you bite. continue reading

Went to Soup Restaurant at about 7 plus with hubby. As we expected, it was full. We waited more than half an hour for a table. We ordered the Samsui Ginger Chicken, which is still my absolute favourite item on the menu, and I don't even LIKE ginger! We had the Beggar Tofu which was very good too, but the Garlic Prawns were a huge disappointment. Couldn't taste the garlic... more like mushroom sauce?Paid about $50 for 3 dishes, 2 Chinese Tea. Price is ok for the quality and portion of food. Will definitely be back, but not during peak periods! continue reading
