Thanks to the great folks at Faber Peak Singapore, I won $100 Faber Peak dining voucher in their recent Facebook Valentine's Day contest!A brief background - Located at the top of the hill at Mount Faber, the premise was given a complete make over and transformed into a bright and colorful F&B joint. Spuds & Aprons (what a unique name!) brands itself as a fun and playful F&B joint serving up yummy east and west dishes. My wife and I patronized this lovely place on 21st February 2015 (3rd day of the CNY). Upon stepping into Spuds & Aprons, we were warmly greeted by their service staff and bought to our reserved seats promptly. To make eating a comforting affair, you can opt to chill out at the air-conditioned Dining Room or relax at the alfresco Garden. Whatever you choose, both locations offer breath taking view of Sentosa and the alluring city.We opted for the a seat by the side in the alfresco garden as we like the gentle breeze and the open environment. We made the right choice with dinner in the late evening as we managed to catch the beautiful sunset from the comfort of our seats. Our neighbour diners were caught busy snapping photographs using their smartphone from their seats too!Perhaps the best feature of Spuds & Aprons is the scenic view of the cable cars. Lights from the surrounding buildings and cable cars in the sky made the view even more picturesque. If you come to this place on a Saturday in the evening, you get to enjoy a bonus i.e. 8pm firework displays at Universal Studios Singapore. It was spectacular and awesome to watch the fireworks during CNY !!!So much for the ambience, let's get started with the food and drinks! For the starters, at the recommendation of the friendly service staff (Wingo), we ordered the Chilli Crab in a Tux. This dish was so appertizing! We did not realize that we finished it so quickly! The chef prepared hot chilli crab and stuffed it in potato skins. It was really delicious and if this is your first visit, I would recommend that you should try this dish. For the main dishes, again at the recommendations of Wingo, we ordered Oven-roasted mustard marinated chicken and Crispy Pork Belly. The chicken was massaged and roasted till golden brown and served with homemade gravy and mashed spuds. The pork belly was soaked in a hot tub and slowly cooked until fork tender. It was perfectly crispy and yet tender. It was served with homemade pineapple pickle and roasted spuds. For the desserts, we were undecided between two recommended choices i.e. Chempedak Bread and Jar of Happiness Ice cream. Finally, we left it in the good hands of Wingo who insisted that we should try something different. We ordered the Chempedak Bread & Butter Pudding. It was a croissant with creamy custard and chempedak (hot) served with Haagen Dazs Vanilla ice cream (cold). We ended the night with a nice and sweet comfort food. For the drinks, we ordered the non-alcoholic mocktail and smoothies. My wife tried their famous Spuds & Aprons' Sodas With Nata D' Coco Jello and wild berries. I tried their Minty Mango Madness. The soda was refreshing and fruity! My smoothies was a fushion of mango mix, mango sorbet, yogurt and mint syrup. We enjoyed ourselves very much by sipping the drinks slowly while enjoying the beautiful sunset!Special thanks to Ms Jaslyn Toh who helped us with the prize collection, reservation, excellent customer service, recommendations and "best view" seating arrangement! In addition, special thanks to Mr Wingo for his friendliness, hospitality, excellent customer service and food and drinks recommendations at Spuds & Aprons.http://www.faberpeaksingapore.com/eat-drink-shop/spuds-and-apronsPlease call (+65) 6377 9688 or email: guestrelations@mountfaber.com.sg to check on restaurants' availability and to make a reservation.

Spuds & Aprons serves good east-and-west dishes with colourful cocktails while overlooking the view the cable cars, harbour and Sentosa Island. Choose to sit comfortably in the air-conditioned Dining Room or relax in the alfresco Garden. There will even be live band performances every Friday and Saturday evening. The alfresco Garden has a seating capacity of 160 pax; and the indoor Dining Room has a seating capacity of 48 pax.The warm light at the Dining Room makes the whole restaurant looks super elegant and set a relaxing mood. The table arrangement is pretty. Jess and I both felt so welcome and we love the mini cable car paper holder. It was super cute! Now come photos of the scrumptious meal that we had. Start off with the delightful and refreshing Festive Welcome Mocktail - Santa-rina (Only available in the Festive Ala Carte Menu). The top layer of powdered sugar looks like snow. The first appetizer served was the Festive Wicked Fries (Only available in the Festive Ala Carte Menu). This is definitely for cheese lover cause it's made up of 6 different kind of cheese! Also found in this dish are Turkey bacon, ham and cranberries. Once you start, you can't stop. Was told that the difference between this dish to the usual dish they sold was that instead of gravy, they've changed to cream. A perfect combination. I love it.The second appetizer served to us was the Pan Fried Foie Gras. This is made of duck liver. At the side are spinach, walnuts and poached egg. I don't take Foie Gras but I try to eat half of it. It taste subtle and seems to have the melt in the mouth feeling. The third appetizer served Grilled Tako. Ours is in the portion for tasting only. Actual dish would definitely be bigger. It's like a mix of salad with those jelly cold dish with the grilled tako. The whole dish is crunchy, chewy and opens up your taste buds. Our first main course is Grilled King Prawns Pasta. The pasta is cooked with squid ink thus the black colour. I felt that the colour combination of the black pasta and the bright red king prawns matches better compared to pairing it with the normal colour pasta. This dish is a bit spicy, so get your water prepared. Our second main course is Baked Asian Turkey Roll (Only available in the Festive Ala Carte Menu). This is a more interesting dish whereby the turkey meat is mixed with tomatoes before baked. It comes with butternut pumpkin puree. Dessert was Mountain of Happiness. Yes, it's literally a mountain of 16 scoops of ice-creams!!! Some of the flavours are Mango Sorbet, Vanilla, Belgium Chocolate, Green Tea, Haagen Daz, Rum and Rasin, Strawberry and Raspberry. Ice-cream for desserts can never go wrong and one can never be too full for ice-cream.There's even a sort of ongoing challenge to whoever can finish the 16 scoop of ice-cream in 15 minutes can get this whole ice-cream dessert ON THE HOUSE! Seems quite impossible but they told us that there's actually one guy who did it. They even printed this apron to give out to whoever completed the challenge. I don't know how anyone can complete this challenge. For me, ice-cream have to be savour slowly to enjoy the taste. Definitely a great and memorable dining experience for me. Enjoy the good food and great accompany. Their Festive Set Lunch are priced below $40 and I personally can say that it's super worth the price. The place will also be decorated with colourful festive decors and there will be a six-feet-tall ice-cream tree, macaroon tree and cutlery trees made up of colourful utensils for many photos taking opportunities. First time there and I'm amazed by the beautiful ambience. The tables are clean and the utensils clean too. The place is cosy and the staff quite attentive. I had dessert - Haagen daz ice cream with sliced almonds, salted caramel, strawberry compote and it's simply beautiful and delightfully presented (I'm a sucker for well presented food). However, the pineapple and cranberry juice are abit diluted and too much ice put into the drinks- otherwise all is good.

Chose Spuds & Aprons for my birthday dinner because of two reasons:1. The location, which is atop Mount Faber, is just spectacular2. It's new so I was curious what the food was like thereSo going there, had to take a cab up to the Mount Faber. When my friends and I arrived at the restaurant, we were quite impressed. It was like a tree house and the floor was made out of wood planks. There were also real trees which add to this ambiance. Anyway, I made reservations so we got seated right away. What we ordered were:1. Wicked Fries for sharing2. Pasta Vongole - for long life3. Oven-roasted Marinated Mustard Chicken4. BBQ Baby Back Ribs5. Crispy Pork Belly6. Grilled Char Siew Lamb RackThere were nothing stellar about the dishes. All of them were just plain average and didn't wow my palate. The fries were thick cut and were drenched with BBQ sauce and Cheese. It wouldve been better if maybe the sauce was separate so at least the fries were crispy. The Vongole was just plain simple. Nothing to shout about. The mustard chicken was very light and passable. The BBQ Baby Back ribs were the best one for me. The ribs were richly drenched in the sauce and there was a lot of meat in the bones. The Pork belly was good too, the skin was very crispy and it was the first thing which everyone went for.. since all of us shared the dishes. The lamb was a bit gamy so I didn't even finish my share. We had these dishes with beer. There was a 1-for-1 promotion until 8pm and we were there at 730pm, Just in time!
