For the month of September, The Soup Spoon launched their Souper Inspiration Japan. Souperchef Anna had come out with 3 different Japan themed soups, “Japanese Style Vegan Sweet Potato Curry”, “Nikujaga Wasabi Beef Stew” and “Salmon Head Touyu Nabe” using the different types of stable or comfort Japan food. The combination of both Japanese purple sweet potato and orange sweet potato chunks. The sweet potatoes were soft but not mushy. One thing I love about Japan curry was that usage of roasted apple in their curry bring out the natural sweetness. The other key ingredient was honey. It gave the curry the sweetness and also help to tame the spiciness. The main highlight of the stew is the seiyo wasabi that was added in to give the whole concept a twist. Surprisingly, the combination was really good.Souperchef Anna also added Konnyaki which tasted like jelly but with a firmer texture. Knnoyaki is know for its almost zero calories and high in fibre. The soup stock was made with salmon head, soya milk, shiro miso. I like the light yet rich combination of the soup broth. The Ichigo Tsukune Balls combining prawns, mentaiko, yamaimo, ginger and tofu together. The Ichigo Tsukune Balls were very flavorful and springy, how I wish they can have more Ichigo Tsukune Balls in the soup. The grounded black sesame powder mixed with the light fluffy chiffon cake was irresistible. The layer of Black Sesame Butter cream was great in adding the slight sweetness to the overall taste. For full review check out : http://www.elgenahearts.com/the-soup-spoon-september-souper-inspiration-japan/ continue reading

Tonight I am invited to an event at suntec city outlet of Soup Spoon, which will be introducing the new Spain Souper Inspirations soups at tonite's Spanish Night with Souper Chef Anna. The place is packed to the maximum. We are treated to a wonderful dance performance by a group of trio dancers from Rose Borromeo Spanish Dance Company. It is so exciting that even passerbys stop and take pictures of their performance. The event is graced by Chancellor Daniel Guiscafré from the Spain Embassy.Chef Anna shares with us her experience in Spain and what delicious food she has tried over there.POLLASTRE ESCUDELLA AMB PRUNES(CATALAN CHICKEN STEW WITH PRUNES)Chicken | Gluten | Eggs | Dairy Free (412 CAL)Marinated chicken thigh, chicken meatballs, chicken sausages, potatoes, carrot purée, chickpeas, green cabbage, parsnip, leek, onions, garlic, shell pasta, parsley, sage, dried prunes, cooking wine and homemade chicken stockTopped with Salsa verde (mint, parsley, olive oil, coriander). The soup is a very chicken soup, filled with unique version of meatballs which is very smooth in texture. The prunes lend a taste of sweetness in the soup.VEGAN ARROZ SAMFAINA LA CASSOLA(VEGAN RICE WITH RATATOUILLE CASSEROLE)Vegan | Gluten Free | Egg Free | Dairy Free (185 CAL)Potatoes, carrots, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, leeks, eggplants, cauliflower, green beans, zucchini, spinach, button mushrooms, asparagus, tomatoes, saffron, paprika, rice, green peas, garlic, onions, cooking wine and black eyed peasTopped with garlic aioli and lemon wedge. The soup is like a meatless minestrone soup but filled with cute little round balls of rice.SOPA DE PESCADO MY VERSION(BASQUAISE SPICY SEAFOOD STEW)Seafood | Gluten Free | Dairy Free | Egg Free | Spicy (283 CAL)Barramundi fish, prawns, squid, mussels, tomatoes, potatoes, chickpeas, navy beans, peppers, leek, cooking wine, onions, garlic, celery, paprika, bay leaves, thyme, parsley, almonds and homemade fish stockTopped with garlic aioli and olive oil.In my first mouthful, I am shocked by the spicy taste of the soup, which grows deeper as the more one drinks. The soup is filled with chunks of seafood. The only letdown is that the prawn is a bit tough due to the long cooking process.Besides the three Souper Inspiration soups, we are also treated to a series of tapas such as SpanishOmelette with Potatoes and Onions, Garlic Prawn and Deep-fried Potatoes in Spicy Tomato Sauce& Aioli, accompanied by Spanish wine - Cava and Sangria. I like the taste of red-colored Sangria which has fruity notes in it.We end the meal with a yummy and creamy but not too sweet Creme Brulee for dessert.Overall it has been an enjoyable night, filled with exciting activities and delicious food. continue reading

The Soup Spoon is the best place for soup in cold weather. Healthy soup with natural ingredients. I have ordered one of the soup of the month, Beef Bourguignon. It contains chunky Beef, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, onion and french beans all stew in Red wine. It is dairy and egg Free. the best part is it is only 346 Cal. Added condiments of sour cream and mustard brings out the flavour of the soup. continue reading

This new outlet of Soup Spoon opened on 17 July. I went there on its opening day and was quite impressed with the whole design and look of the store. It looks a lot like a cozy cafe with its soft lights. The manpower on the opening day is sufficient as well, though the waiting time for seats is slightly longer being its opening day where there are a lot of other customers besides me patronising the store.I have not tried the Simon and Garfunkel Chicken and Mushroom Ragout soup before even though it was a daily soup hence I ordered this instead of the mushroom soup. The Simon and Garfunkel Chicken and Mushroom Ragout soup contains potatos, chicken thigh meat, carrots and mushrooms. As you can see, the soup is filled of a lot of ingredients and it is very warming to the stomach. The taste of the soup is rich and robust in taste and it is good for dipping the bread. The chicken is tender as well. This would be one of my favourite soup to order from now on! continue reading
