The restaurant is located under a rather old block of HDB flats. It offers thai style zi char dishes. The restaurant is non air con with limited dine in area indoor and outdoor. The decoration is simple and non frill.I decided to dine in for lunch as it was not as crowded as the next door coffeeshop or the nearby hawker centre. Surprisingly there was only a table of 5 persons occupied.Thai Iced Lemon Grass (Homemade) ($2.80)It was a light and refreshing drink.Thai Kway Chap Soup with Roasted Pork ($6)The dish was served pipping hot in a claypot. Peppery soup base with thin smooth slices of kway as the noodle. The dish had pieces of deep fried pig's skin and chunky roasted pork in it. A very filling and warming dish to have.Lemon Grass Jelly with Red Ruby ($5)The lemon grass jelly melted easily from its chunky form into thick liquid. So best have as possible as it served. continue reading

Wang Thai Kitchen serves Thai food, right in Toa Payoh, surrounded by a number of coffee shops and eateries.Appetizer: Thai Fish Cake ($7.50 for 5 pieces). Quite like the firm yet soft texture of the fish cake. Nice dish to start with!Appetizer: Pandan Leave Chicken ($7.50 for 5 pieces).Soup: Tom Yam with Thai Fresh Mushroom ($10.00). Soup is great, but if you are looking at some damn powerful sour & spicy soup, this is truly not one of them.Chicken: Fried Chicken with Pepper in Hot Plate ($12.00).Fish: Crispy Garoupa with Mango Salad ($30.00). Sliced mango stripes which are quite dried, and fish is although fresh, but lacking of taste. Should have gone for the sambal chili version.Vegetables: Stir-Fried Kai Lan with Oyster Sauce ($10.00).Egg: Thai Style Omelette with Prawn ($8.00). Seen other pictures where their omelette is fluffy, but mine came flat!!Rice & Noodles: Pineapple Fried Rice ($10.00). Having eaten others, Wang Thai's version is lacking of pineapple fruits in it, and overall just doesn't taste yummy at all.Dessert: Mango with Sticky Rice ($5.00). Sticky rice is being served warm which is commendable, because some places do serve cold rice!Overall, can be well rated as average. I do not feel that this is authentic Thai food, as I've had others which seems more to what Thai food be like, in my perspective. But good for a simple and fast "kill-off" craving for Thai food. For more details, please visit http://foodesteem.blogspot.com/2014/04/wang-thai-kitchen.html continue reading

Enjoy the real fusion Thai cuisines, Wang Thai Kitchen was located at friendly neighbourhood area. Catered more for local taste, Thai Food sold here was mild and regular flavoured. Occupied the whole shop space, décor was simple and some celebrities photos were pasted on the wall. Boss was cheerful sociable, recommended some signature dishes for us. Promotion was only available from Tuesday to Friday, either Pineapple Fried or Plain Rice to be chosen. Tempting pictures on Menu, set was apparently great value for money. Came along with Mango Pudding and Lime juice, combination was a well match. Peppery spicy pork was quite a dense punch, satisfied my taste buds completely. Rice was fluffy with Pineapple powder aromatic. Pudding was served chilled, silky soft and sweetness for my liking. No doubt it served up authentic delicious Thai food, yet the portion was very small. I didn’t feel anything after eating the set lunch. $7.90 for the set, thus it was slightly expensive for me. continue reading

Whenever I crave for Thai food, I will go to Wang Thai Kitchen at Toa Payoh Lorong 4. Their fried rice dishes are quite good, they were easy to eat and sufficiently fragrant. Though the portions of the dishes here are generally small but they fill you up quick, perhaps due to the variety of strong aromas. Their tom yum hor fun is another must eat if you like tom yum. Extremely flavourful if you ask me.The price is also easy on the pocket and the service crew are very friendly, but do be prepared to wait during peak hours as it can get quite crowded. continue reading
