Went to Yayoiken at Bugis plus for lunch. They serve Japanese set lunch and is value for Money. Their rice that comes with the set is refillable, eat all you can. I actually ate 2 bowl of rice during this trip. I ordered the fried Ebi and hamburg steak set. The hamburg is juicy and delicious. the set comes with salad with saseme dressing which is one f my favorite dressing for salad. They use short grain Japanese rice and authentic Japanese vegetables , cabbage for the salad. Comes with a miso soup too. I spent $12++ continue reading

Ideal restaurant for Japanese food lover, Yayoiken provided high-quality menu with reasonable price. I like the simple yet gorgeous décor, the restaurant was brightly cozy. Consists of Japanese set with excellent nutritional balance, the choices in Menu was quite accomplished. Premium standard of ingredients, their food was guaranteed culinary tradition. After browsing through Menu, I made up my mind and ordered this. Outstanding set meal, the pork was crispy tender and very perfect to accompany the sweet & spicy sauce. The rice was cooked well, first time I appreciated the rice, it really tasted different with normal plain rice. Salad was not bad, crunchy and fresh. $14.90 for mine, it was worthwhile to have so many dishes in one. Service wise, it was not easy to get staffs’ attention. I think they should recruit more staffs to cope with the crowd. continue reading

Finally after several attempts, I met up with C for dinner on weekdays. We decided to meet up at Bugis+ and settled down with Yayoiken (Date of visit: 28/8/2013). There isn’t queue around 7.45pm and we managed to get a seat immediately. I was surprised that Yayoiken restaurant has both the physical menu as well as touch screen ordering system. We flipped through the hard copy of the menu and placed order using the touch screen. It was fast and efficient. I still remember my last visit was Feb year 2012 to their first outlet at Liang Court. It was a pleasant visit too.Our order was served within 10-15 minutes which is superb fast. I am quite impressed with the ordering system. The screen menu was clear and comprehensive so just follow the instruction that appear and it is as easy as you see. Here are the set that we ordered:-Beef steak set @ $24.90 which I get to choose on how well the beef I want it to be done through the touch screen. I ordered medium well done and the beef was tender and soft. It taste juicy and blends well with the sauce and the rice. The portion is just nice and filling for me.C ordered Saba Miso set @ $10.90. I find the size of the saba fish is kinda small and it wasn’t that sizzling hot although it is served in hot sizzling plate. However, the fish texture is smooth and not too dry. It compliments with the sauce to go with the rice. And of course, we had hot ocha to go with Japanese foods. It costs @ $1.00 per cup and refillable. It is quite standard across all Japanese restaurants in Singapore except for the fine dinning ones.As for the service wise, the staffs are quite friendly during the serving time. However, maybe due to order computerized system are implement, the manpower of staff maybe has reduced. We need to be alert to look for the staff when we request for refill of hot ocha. Total dinner costs $44.45 inclusive of 10% service charge and 7% GST. It was a filling dinner and quick one too. continue reading

Lunch at Yayoiken was ok as the food served was like any other japanese outlet with the common food most other restaurants serve. However, the food standard was not too bad and the ton cut si was nice. The pork cutlet was also quite good and i love how you can accompany the rice with the thick sauce of the pork cutlet. The set meals are quite good and the prices are reasonable.#NTUDAC continue reading

I met up with a friend for dinner tonight (he also happens to be quite a well-known food blogger) and he introduced me to this Japanese restaurant at Bugis+. It's not an area that I usually frequent so I hardly get to eat at the new restaurants there. Yayoiken is located on the ground floor of Bugis+ and sells pretty great Japanese sets. I ordered the Special Mix Steak Set ($19.90) which comes with Beef, Chicken, Bacon and a Hamburg Steak with potatoes, bean sprouts, a salad with sesame dressing and Miso Soup too. The meats here are of quite good quality for the price that you pay, especially the beef. I particularly enjoyed the fried potato cubes which were crispy on the outside, yet soft and mashy on the inside. The staff were very attentive to our needs and friendly as well. I'll definitely love to re-visit this restaurant when I'm in the Bugis area again. continue reading
