My friends and I went to Yomenya Goemon to try their pastas because we saw good reviews on it and want to give it a try! It is a fusion of Japanese and Italian kind of pasta and the menu have different varieties of pasta to select from. I chose the mentaiko pasta with prawn.. 😁 waited about 30 mins before it arrive which is quite long... The first mouth of the creamy sauce with the thin pasta infused with the mentaiko, its quite a unique taste.. Subsequently, it tasted okay and find it a bit creamy. However the portion of the pasta is really generous. continue reading

Yomenya Goemon combines my two most favourite cuisine into a single dish! What's not the love!?!?They have many to choose from but my absolute favourite has to be their Mediterranean Seafood Spaghetti! It's creamy with tomato base in it so again, another combination of both my favourite italian sauces, full of fresh seafood! I'm salivating just writing about this!My friends ordered other pastas and I've tried them. They are nice enough but nothing beats my Mediterranean Seafood Spaghetti. They serve their pasta with a side of salad that is dressed in their own special tangy yet refreshing sauce. Very appetising indeed.I am definitely a fan! continue reading

Yomenya Goemon is really an experience that is one of a kind for me. Reinventing spaghetti and pasta the Japanese way, Yomenya Goemon's spaghettis are served up in china dishes and miso tofu soup ...with chopsticks!I somehow loved the touch that I was eating my mentaiko shrimp spaghetti ($13.90) with chopsticks HAHA. The Mentaiko Shrimp Spaghetti was really just a reinvented aglio olio with mentaiko (marinated pollock roe). The roe is creamy and savoury and has a delicious hint of sweetness. When eaten with the al dente spaghetti, it's perfect! The shrimps are bouncy and not overcooked, complementing the sweetness of the roe. It's a really simple spaghetti but it captured my heart with its sincere essence. There's a good range of pastas to choose from -tomato, cream or oil based. There are some distinctly western ones while the one I went for (mentaiko shrimp!) is certainly skewed towards Nippon influences. My friend ordered the smoked duck spaghetti -OK to be honest I find smoked duck a little strange for me and I'm not a fan, but she said it goes well with the oil based spaghetti too and the flavours weren't too overpowering. So that's that - I stick by my stand and recommend the Mentaiko Shrimp one continue reading

First time ever i heard of this restaurant My friend recommended this place as she tried it once and recalled that it's not bad! What truly amazes me is that they only offer you chopsticks to eat your pastas, no fork and spoon though it's available upon request! They also have a wide variety of pastas to choose from! You can choose either the traditional Japanese style or the Western style pasta!I ordered the Yuba, Shrimp, Mozzarella & Onsen Egg Pasta under the Western Style It was something i wanted, lots of different ingredients in one dish! What's nice is that it comes with a complimentary soup to go along with the dish The pasta was very tasty an i love the egg and the fresh ingredients, definitely worth another trip soon! continue reading

I found these pictures of the food I taken at Yomenya Goemon some time back, before I started writing food reviews. Even though this isn't my latest meal of the day, I hope to share with everyone about the food here at Yomenya Goemon. With a similar concept as Waraku of having Japanese-Italian fushion dishes, most of its dishes consists of 50% Japanese-style spaghetti and 50% authentic Italian. I ordered a "half-half" set meal C - Carbonara with Yolk & Bacon & seafood pasta (I think it was named something similar) that comes with a small bowl of soup and green tea. It was extremely filling!!! I had initially thought that the portions would be small since it is half-half but when it was served, it felt like 2 main dishes. Super full! But, because I am a dessert fanatic, I had to try their dessert and ordered a souffle cheesecake Extremely delicious and highly recommended to try!!! Overall the place is quite fantastic with affordable food, and I will in a few weeks' time go back there again continue reading
