One of the famous stalls during the busy lunch hours, Thunder Tea Rice, originated from the Hakka Cuisine and also a healthy option for the health conscious diners. The green bowl of soup is a mixture of tea leaves and herbs grounded, adding liquid with various roasted nuts, seeds as well as grains. It is then poured into the bowl of rice to achieve a complete dish.Deliciously healthy and you can bid goodbye to constipation as they are rich in fibre. The usual ingredients would make up of anchovies, peanuts, lettuce, cut french beans as shown below. One can opt for either brown or the normal white rice.So are you game enough to try such cuisine out? It has a strong scent of herbs, basil leaves in the tea mixture. Portion is generous and such combinations has given the dish a mixture of textures with its variety of flavours.Every spoonful is addictive given that the tea mixture was not salty and most importantly a healthier meal. It is also hard to come by a stall selling such rare cuisine nowadays. For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.com continue reading

Thunder Tea Rice is a well known dish by Hakka客家 people. One can find this dish selling at this stall in Lau Pa Sat. Many types of herbs are used in the making of tea base soup. It is believed that the dish is effective for cold, flu, cough and some common sickness, as well as, effective in treating joint pains and in removing stomach wind and gas. Various vegetables, nuts and tofu topping on top of the rice ( the rice comes in a choice of white or brown rice). Each serving costs $5. The stall also sells new version with bee hoon, instead of rice. For those who feels the dish has too much greens, there is also another version which costs $8.50 and comes with a topping of choice of fish patty, chicken patty, or chicken prawn meat roll. To eat this dish, the soup is first pour into the dish, then mixed up. For first timer, some may not be used to the tea base soup as it tastes quite strong. I feel quite healthy after eating this dish. continue reading
