My colleagues were highly recommending this stall for its delicious XLB (Xiao Long Bao) and I guess I have to patronize the place by hook and by crook. XLB are sold in 10 and was served in 2 dim sum trays. The waiting time takes quite a while but since this is our side dish apart from the mains, there is no issue about it. Each tray consists of 5 dumplings and we were giving a saucer with ginger stripes immersed in vinegar. It may not be as good as the commercialized XLB we had in the malls with the delicate and fine thin skin that wraps over the juicy ball of thin meat within. When compared, the skin of the XLB was abit thicker but what we like about it was its "tang" inside the bao. It has a stronger fragrance in wine taste and of course with the generic characteristic of having the tang spill out on high pressure on the first bite. All in all, I find that the dumplings standard is already very good considering that it's from a hawker centre.Cost: S$7.00 for 10 continue reading

Beauty World Centre has a number of old shops that brings many memories to me. This place is my old childhood hangout and the crowds I'm sure are mainly to those who regard the same sentiment. We ordered steam dumplings and onion pancake. The staff are very friendly, took a while to cook but the lady delivered to the table. I never had this before, the hand 'pulled' pancake really gave me an impression that I wished I had curry! It almost tastes like prata but a healthier/vegetarian version. The dumplings looks appealing and tasted light goes well with ginger and vinegar. continue reading
