2 Restaurants to Travel to for Dim Sum
In Singapore, we enjoy dim sum at practically any time of the day – be it breakfast with your family, or late-night supper with your best friends. We recently savoured dishes from the following two restaurants, which serve rather underrated baskets of dim sum. The selection features steamed creations from the simple and humble to the intricate and intriguing. And while these locations may warrant some travel time, we promise you’ll be rewarded for going the distance.

Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant

10 new additions to its dim sum menu you must savour
prima tower dim sum
Age may show in the façade of this 30-year-old restaurant. But once in, you’ll get a 360-degree view of its surroundings as it revolves to show you a rather spectacular view of Sentosa, Harbourfront and the vibrant ports. Dated interiors aside, what’s new at Prima Tower Revolving Restaurant, is a recent update of 10 dim sum dishes consisting of steamed and fried dumplings, each unique and an intricate work on its own. Must tries: Take a leap of faith and try the Black Pepper Chicken Pumpkin Bun ($4.80). Dubious as it sounds, its sweet, savoury and peppery notes were a surprisingly perfect blend. Next, go for the juicy Deep-fried Seaweed & Golden Mushroom Roll ($5) and balance it all off with a soft and delicate Steamed Sponge Cake with Custard Cream ($4.80) layered combination. Legendary Hong Kong

Enjoy baskets of dim sum amidst authentic Hong Kong vibes
legendary hong kong dim sum and pastries
At Legendary Hong Kong, yum cha starts with dim sum, continues on with slurps of milk tea and ends with our lips covered in crumbs from their traditional bakes. While their roast meats (get the BBQ Twin Combo) and congee never fails to hit the spot, we’re die-hard fans for their dim sum and especially their golden-brown baked pastries. Think sweet custard crust buns sandwiched with a thick slab of butter and freshly baked char siew sou, paired with the chef’s special HK Style Tea and Coffee Mix (yuan yang) that has been prepared with five varieties of tea imported from Hong Kong. Must-tries: Sauteed Turnip Cake with XO Sauce ($5.50++), Thick Rice Flour Roll with Deep-Fried Shrimp Spring Roll ($5.50++), Custard Crust Bun with Butter ($2.50++) Yes it’s in the far west, but you won’t get a more authentic cha chaan teng experience in Singapore anywhere else.
