Bonjour Ladurée
Any real fan of macarons would know famed French patisserie Ladurée. The Parisian maker of luxury cakes and pastries is finally coming to Singapore (Takashimaya to be exact) and will open the doors of two of its outlets to the public by April this month.
Zou san Tim Ho Wan (早晨! 添好運)
But of course, that’s not it for new restaurant openings. The super famous Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant, Tim Ho Wan, is set to wow our taste buds with affordable dim sum in the month of April as well. For an average price of about $4 for say, a BBQ Pork Bun or Pan Fried Turnip Cake, we can see why everyone’s getting all excited for the grand opening on April 10.

Goodbye, duck rice
Famed for its boneless braised duck, the famous Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House in South Buona Vista Road is set to close in June after 45 long years.
Unless someone steps up to take over the business or maybe even buy the recipe, we only have till June to savour this so make it a point to drop by soon. Better yet, why not join us for another OpenRice Food Tasting session at Lim Seng Lee?

Lolla – one of the best in the world
The Ann Siang area is home to so many noteworthy restaurants, but apparently one sticks out like a sore thumb. Lolla – a dinner-only, communal-style dining concept – snagged a spot in food guide Zagat’s list of ‘Top 10 Eateries in the World’. Well, with unique grub like Sea Urchin Pudding and Beef Tongue Escalopes, we can see why.

Why so weird ah?
We were asking ourselves the same thing while doing this piece on Singapore’s oddest creations e.g. coffee crab, fruit juice mee siam and… *gulp*… crocodile paw soup.
P.S. We also have one about strange ice cream flavours.
Heard of the latest fad, ‘Chope Food for the Needy’?
Singapore’s latest fad is for a good cause, and it’s growing. The purpose of ‘Chop Food for the Needy’ is simple: help the less fortunate out by ensuring they have something to eat.
The steps? Go to any food stall, coffee joint, etc. you frequent, pre-pay for servings of food or drinks and finally, ask the staff to give the food/drink out to needy people when they see them.
