The annual Songkran festival in Thailand is a joyous event ringing in the New Year and is traditionally celebrated as a 3-day long water festival. This year, ThaiExpress has joined in the festivities with a specially curated menu of four delicious food items inspired by this iconic celebration.
From now until 19th April, enjoy these dishes at any ThaiExpress outlets island wide.
Songkran-Inspired Dishes
Phad Mee Phuket (pictured) – Stir-fried Thai-Style Bee Hoon (rice vermicelli) with Tiger Prawns. This dish is a treat for spice lovers. With a cornucopia of delicious flavours enticing your taste buds, indulge in the fragrant flavours of coconut, sweet and sour sauce and spices. Also, expect a generous serving of juicy tiger prawns scattered on top.
Pla Muk Khi Khem – Thai-style Salted Egg Calamari. Thai dishes are always so flavourful and this dish is no exception. The deep-fried calamari is coated generously with a homemade sauce made from whole salted eggs.
Songkran Wing (pictured) – Deep-fried to a beautiful golden brown and topped off with crispy basil leaves, garlic flakes and dried chilli. Nothing can go wrong with delicious and perfectly cooked wings, especially when they have added spices and seasonings. This is a must-try item from their menu.
Som Tum – A classic Thai papaya salad that will be a refreshing and delicious appetizer to your flavourful meal. Be warned that this dish is really spicy (perfect for those who love the kick)!
