JPot want to celebrate National Day with Singapore's most iconic dishes - Chilli Crab Soup base. Read on!

So how does it works? You cook the live crab in the soup base for exactly three minutes, they provide a tiny little hourglass timer to ensure accuracy. When soup is ready, you will start off with tantalising chilli crab broth, completed with a range of seafood such as, prawns, sotong and fish and fish paste series food items such as sotong ball, meat ball and beancurd skin. 

The beancurd skin tasted especially good with the broth. We applied the 3 seconds rule when dipping the beancurd skin into the broth and you get the crispy and yet a little soggy textured beancurd skin. Don't forget to order their Fish Skin as well, that we applied the 3-5 seconds rule as well.

Once you’ve eaten your fill, with about 1/4 of the soup base left, the server and make magic from the broth by adding what I call magical ingredients such as eggs, tapioca flour to the broth to become chilli crab sauce! We saved the best for the last to eat, i.e. crabs and prawns. Saved the prawns till the last cos not only Chilli Crab taste good, Chilli Prawn is equally yummy too!

I was surprised that even though the crab was cooked from the start till the end, for about 1 hour but the meat is still so tender. Would definitely go for this steamboat real soon.
