2013-02-26
When most people hear the word, buffet, one thing usually comes to their mind—EXPENSIVE! Yeah, you get to try all sorts of dishes, drinks, and desserts, but the price you have to pay can sometimes cause a dent in your wallet. But with the mushrooming of buffet restaurants in Singapore, there are couple places nowadays which have affordable rates to make them more competitive in the market. Believe it or not, lunch or dinner can go for less than 50 bucks! Good deal, right? Now, are you ready to try these buffet restaurants? You can start with these on our list! BUFFET TOWN
“Eat without boundaries”
Whatever day or time it is, Buffet Town is always buzzing with hungry foodies. Even during weekday dinners, you can expect the restaurant to be jam-packed. Hence, do make sure you make reservations at least 3 days in advance to guarantee your table. Otherwise, you would have to queue in the walk in section, and this may take a while. Since the restaurant seats 450 people, the interior can sometimes get a bit cramped and noisy. However, it somewhat makes up for it with a warm and cosy feel you can find in a hotel. Dim yellow lights give a warm glow to the interior, but the sleek modern décor adds a modern touch to it. This atmosphere only gives you that ambience to help you enjoy lunch or dinner. Food: For very reasonable prices, you can enjoy over 300 food items and 29 categories. Indulge in their specialties which include succulent seafood, fresh sushi and sashimi. One thing good about Buffet Town is how efficient they refill the seafood section. So, you can really have unlimited servings of oysters, crayfish, and prawns without fear of running out of these delights. With 29 categories of food, there are so many sections you can look forward to when you go to Buffet Town. Not to be missed are the Local Food Section, Italian Pasta and Pizza, Meatlover’s Carvings and Grills, as well as Teppanyaki and Robbanyaki. What buffet would be complete without desserts? At Buffet Town, it has over 20 varieties of mouth-watering desserts which are just enough to satisfy the sweet tooth in you! Afterwards, you can quench your thirst with all the beverages lined in one corner. Have your pick between sodas or local kopi teh. Plus Point: They have a kiddie corner! For those parents who just want to enjoy the buffet for a few minutes, they can leave their kids to play there for a while. --- Address: Raffles City, #B1-44E, 252 North Bridge Road Price: Monday to Friday Lunch (11:30am to 3pm) Adult: $25.80++ Child: $18.80++ Dinner (6 to 10pm) Adult: $35.80++ Child: $21.80++ Saturday, Sunday, Eve PH and PH Lunch (11:30am to 3pm) Adult: $30.80++ Child: $18.80++ Dinner (6pm to 10pm) Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Eve PH and PH Adult: $40.80++ Child: $21.80++ Operating Hours: 11.30am to 3pm daily (Last order at 2.30pm) 6pm to 10.30pm daily (Last order at 9.30pm) Reservations: For inquiries and reservations, please call 6837 3793 or make an online booking here. *Child age should be between 6 and 12 years old. “Celebrate the joy of eating without breaking your wallet”
Tucked in a corner at Orchard Central, Kiseki Buffet isn’t hard to miss, especially with that big sumo wrestler statue greeting you in the entrance. Once you enter, you’d be surprised with how “Japanese” the whole vibe seems. The whole restaurant revolves around the "minimalist theme"; hence, there is a wide use of wood to create the different buffet sections. In the centre, there’s a big open kitchen where you can watch the chefs prepare your orders. But not to worry, the whole place is well ventilated so you wouldn’t worry about leaving the restaurant smelling like food. With a capacity of 280, the restaurant is indeed big. But do note that it’s still better to make advanced bookings because crowds tend to flock here for lunch and dinner. Walk in diners may have a bit of trouble getting seats right away. Food: Since this is a Japanese restaurant, you can expect a wide array of fresh seafood, appetisers, sushi, maki, and sashimi to suit your every craving. Accompanying these offerings are special home-made sauces and dressings which complement their flavours. The Japanese offerings do not stop there for there’s also the blazing hot Teppanyaki and Robatayaki as well as all-time favourites of Tempuras and Agemono. Since the restaurant caters to every foodie, there are also other cuisines which you can sink your teeth into. There’s the Italian Pasta and Pizza where you can find pizzas which range from flavourful seafood to Japanese Curry and Teriyaki Chicken with Nori. Available during dinner only, there’s also the Grill station where you can have lip-smacking garlic ribeye steak, sizzling marinated teriyaki chicken, pork collar with ginger sauce, grilled saba, miso shiromi in foil, spicy squid and shiitake mushroom. The restaurant also does not scrimp on desserts for there are over 20 varieties of Japanese house desserts which include Mochi, Daifuku, and Chocolate fondue. Yum! Plus Point: Since Kiseki Restaurant is located on the 8th level of Orchard Central, you get a picture perfect view of Orchard at night. The restaurant has big glass windows with alfresco seats so you can admire the sight. --- Address: Orchard Central, #08-01/02/03, 181 Orchard Road, Singapore 238896 Price: Monday to Friday Lunch (11:30am to 3pm) Adult: $19.80++ Child: $12.80++ (4 to 12 years old) Dinner (6pm to 10.30pm) Adult: $31.80++ Child: $15.80++ (4 to 12 years old) Saturday, Sunday, Eve PH and PH Lunch (11:30am to 3pm) Adult: $27.80++ Child: $17.80++ (4 to 12 years old) Dinner (6pm to 10.30pm) Adult: $34.80++ Child: $18.80++ (4 to 12 years old) Operating Hours: Lunch 11.30am to 3pm daily (Last order at 2.30pm) Dinner 6pm to 10:30pm daily (Last order at 9.30pm) Reservations: For inquiries and reservations, please call 6736 1216 or make an online booking here. MUSHROOM POT
“Mushroom in the pot and beyond”
Mushroom Pot is the go-to destination for those who want a healthier option. With two branches under their belt (Orchard Point and Singapore Stadium), diners don’t have to crowd in one location just to savour their offerings. Not that their restaurants are cramped. In fact, their Stadium outlet can seat 120 pax while the Orchard outlet can seat 170 pax. For first timers, you may have trouble on coming up with your own dishes or hotpot. But they seem to have an army of waiters and waitresses to help you with whatever you need. They are always there to entertain questions on their various mushrooms and other ingredients. The Food: It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that this restaurant is all about the mushrooms. Just so you know, they have a variety of over 20 imported mushrooms on their menu and these include the unusual ones such as the Monkey Head Mushrooms. But of course, your meal wouldn’t really complete if you don’t mix it with other ingredients. At this restaurant, you can mix and match these with fresh seafood, meats, and other veggies. Choose the soup you want: wild mushroom soup, spicy ma-la soup, or both! For non-hot pot dishes, the chefs can prepare it in different ways using different cuisine styles and ingredients. Be adventurous with your mushrooms and maximise your dining experience at the restaurant. Plus Point: Mushroom Pot is an interesting concept since their menu revolves around mushrooms. The restaurant has more varieties of this delicacy than average restaurants here in Singapore. Mix and match your ingredients to come up with a truly unique dish for a buffet lunch or dinner. --- Stadium Outlet Address: 2 Stadium Walk, #01-02 Singapore Indoor, Stadium (Carpark E) Singapore 397691 Tel.
