The fourth restaurant of the Teppei family, Teppei Syokudo is gaining hype at the Takashimaya food hall in lieu of their recent opening launch in late August this year. Serving crowd-favourites such as the Kaisendon ($16), they do not compensate on fresh seafood and ingredients, despite their reasonable pricing.
Situated at a convenient location at Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City, you are able to get your fresh seafood fix without heading all the way down to their other outlets. Sashimi lovers will revel in the glory of affordable Chirashi Dons, courtesy of the Teppei group.

If you’re a fan of Lucha Loco, you’ll need to add their sister outlet in Robertson Quay, Superloco, to your list. Besides the flagship’s signature dishes on the menu here, expect a good variety of Mexican street food like tacos, tuna tostadas and octopus ceviche with smoked paprika and squid ink. And of course, margaritas. We hear the Pineapple Southside is worth a try, if you’re in for a tangy cocktail.

Hong Kong Street’s new kid on the block is already making waves with raves despite a mere two weeks of operation. Spanish tapas and cocktail joint FOC (meaning fire in Catalan and pronounced F-O-C) is headed by Michelin-starred chef Nandu Jubany from Barcelona, in collaboration with ex-Foodbar Dada chef Jordi Noguera and mixologist Dario Nocentini, previously from Catalunya.
With a price range of $6 to $30, the menu consists of small plates including Cod fish puff fritters with green apple puree ($10/5pcs), heartier dishes like Black Mediterranean “Paella” with seafood and garlic mayonnaise ($22), as well as an FOC Chocolate Burger ($12) in the dessert section.

A celebrated French patisserie brand in Japan, Henri Charpentier is set to open its doors at Dempsey Hill on 9 Oct, sporting flushes of deep pink similar to its flagship store in Japan.
Signatures at this dessert salon include Les Madeleines ($2.90 onwards) and Les Financiers ($2.90 onwards), air flown into Singapore from Japan, as well as Crepe Suzette ($22) – a star dish that ends with a live flambé performance. Here, an exclusive Singapore menu features five desserts inspired by the country’s flora, nightlife and even architecture.
In case you were wondering, it’s not all desserts here. Mains include Ratatouille and Parmesan Cheese Tartine ($17) and Beef Bourguignon ($27).

One of the newest juice bars in Singapore, Juice Junkie, resides in Duxton and shares its premises with Cru Cycle, its sister gym that specializes in indoor spin classes. Priced between $10 to $15 per individual bottle, their cold pressed juices are grouped into Greens, Citrus and Roots with various flavour combinations that use ingredients such as kale, spinach, grapefruit, beetroot, lemon and mint.
They’ve also got Nut Milks in vanilla and chocolate options, containing almond, Himalayan salt and agave. Pay $90 for a “6 pack” deal or opt for a 3 or 5 day juice cleanse, at $290 and $450 respectively – both exclusively available online.

Bearing a minimalist look, this new locally owned ramen shop located in The Metropolis of Buona Vista serves Hakata style ramen, with three basic choices available: Tonkotsu ($12.90), Shoyu ($12.90) and Spicy Tonkotsu ($13.90) with either charshu, pork belly, or both. Kanshoku means ‘to finish eating every last bit of your food’ in Japanese, and unlike most ramen shops, their dessert section includes tarts in flavours like yuzu lemon and pear almond.

Inventive flavours such as – Sicilian Pistachio and Strawberry Cheesecake ($4) steals the spotlight here. With fragrant coffee coupled with smooth and sweet gelatos, this ice cream café gives off a laid-back spark, making a perfect spot for afternoon tea or after-meal desserts.
