Usher in the new year with a sweet treat, namely TWG’s fresh new face – Tea-infused King’s Cake (also known as Galette des Rois).
What is a King's Cake?
This delicious cake is a treat for the senses. The aroma of freshly baked pastry, accompanied by the decadent taste of Vanilla Bourbon Tea infused inside the layers of frangipane, almond, butter, eggs and sugar, comes together perfectly.
Traditionally, the King’s Cake is sliced with one extra piece which will be given to the first poor person who passes by. After which, each person has to check whether their slice contains a token or fève (in French) and will be dubbed the “King” or “Queen” of the day if he or she find it inside their cake.
Why you should get one
TWG’s take on the King’s Cake will come with a porcelain trinket hidden inside as the fève and topped with a gold crown. Also, a select number or cakes will include a surprise fève or a lucky Golden Ticket, which entitles them to a free Haute Couture Tea at any TWG outlet in Singapore.
Tracing back all the way to the Roman Empire, this cake is also a French custom that celebrates the Epiphany – the arrival of the Three Wise Men.
Grab this limited edition cake that serves 8 and retails at $78, available from 5th January to 1st February 2015. Available at all TWG Tea Salon and Boutiques (except Changi Airport Terminals 1 and 2 and Takashimaya Department Store Basement 2 Food Hall).
