Chowder lovers, rejoice – Seattle Pike Chowder is finally in Singapore! The chowder franchise opened its doors this August in not one but two locations: Parkway Centre with al fresco seating and Fort Canning Arts Centre with indoor seating. OpenRice was invited to host a tasting session at the Parkway outlet with our members, a very first for Seattle’s famous chowder restaurant. Seattle Pike Chowder currently offers six types of chowders: New England, Manhattan, Seafood Bisque, Smoked Salmon, Alaskan Fish and Scallop Chowder, with prices starting at $8.90. For those who fancy a bread bowl, expect to pay between $12.90 to $14.90. Other bites include six gourmet sandwiches like Roast Beef and Smoked Chicken Ham & Brie. Seattle Pike Chowder’s signature dish, the New England Chowder ($12.90) was served in a bread bowl filled with chopped ocean clams, potatoes, celery and condiments such as onion, thyme, white pepper and sea salt. Made of equal parts butter and flour, the velvety clam stock was both a heart and stomach warmer to start with. Definitely a must-try.

Next, Seafood Bisque and Smoked Salmon Chowder ($9.90, small) were served in tasting portions. The former gets you medley of seafood like salmon, cod, crab and bay shrimp served in a tangy tomato basil cream broth, while the latter is a must-try for salmon lovers.

After which, OpenRice members had were free to try out the gelato from Giovanni L, franchised from Europe and located right beside Seattle Pike Chowder. The extensive range of flavours available ranged from classics ($4.90 per scoop) like Kinder and Chocolate VIC, to premiums ($5.90 per scoop) ones like Eggnog, Sicilian Pistachio and Spiced Chia Tea.
