For more review , visit http://umakemehungry.blogspot.sg/2013/10/dong-ji.htmlLocated next to the famous Jin Jin dessert stall at ABC Brickworks Food Centre, Dong Ji sells a decent fare of chinese delights. We were roaming around the market for decent dinner and this stall caught our attention. Their food caught us by surprise and normally after having these kind of chinese food in hawker, we dont have the thought of making a return but Dong Ji is exceptional.Spring Onion pancake was prepared based on order. The waiting time is about 5 minutes and from observing them pre-heating the pan to having the end product. The spring onion pancake was a surprise. Divided into 4 pieces, they are very crispy and thin, close to thin crust pizza. It was not greasy and does not have the strong greens smell. The chilli that comes with it was powerful, it was thai chilli but the amount of spice was stronger.Cost: $2.80The braised beef noodle broth was clear and flavourful with the La Mian soft to our liking. Cost: $4The La mian was thin and soft. Though it may not be the smooth silky long La Mian / Hand Made Noodle we saw, these are equally good and one of its kind. The thin slices beef was believed to be simmering under the fire for hours resulting the tender and chewy freshness of the meat. The portion was generous with big slices conquering the surface on the bowl. What a satisfiable dinner! 繼續閱讀

Bad place to have a meal in a hot day like this! I was sweating buckets upon arriving at the table with my food! I wasn't very hungry during lunch, so snooped around the hawker centre in search for Xiao Long Bao! Found this to be the only stall selling it - 6 for $4. I ordered 2 sets of this as a side dish for me and my colleagues. After I made my order, the couple who manned the stalls attended to other customers while I was standing there waiting. After a short while, I got impatient and asked how long more before the food was ready. I was told 2 mins, so I walked off to order my main course before returning for the Xiao Long Baos. I was then given 1 set and saw that the guy only started to steam the 2nd set. Obviously, I wasn't happy at his poor coordination! But he offered to send the 2nd set to my table, and that eased off some of my steam! Lucky for this stall, the Xiao Long Bao was really good! The skin was not too thick, and doesn't break when you lift it off the tray. The broth and marinated pork within were delicious as well, making the wait and sweat worthwhile! Yes, I will order the Xiao Long Bao again. But next time, I'll recommend to fellow lunch kakis and order through them! Hahaha! Total Cost: Xiao Long Bao (aka Steamed Buns) - 6 for $4 繼續閱讀

That day after my lunch, I passed by someone who was eating this egg and chives fried dumpling韭菜盒子, my friend politely asked the dinner for such food, she said it was nice. It looked really tempting to me as it has loads of chives!I couldn’t wait to try on last Sunday, I reached there around 1pm, to my surprise there wasn’t many people as compare few days ago when we were there for lunch. It means that this hawker centre is more popular in weekdays then Sunday.I approached to the stall and placed my order. A glimpse on their stall setting, steamer for xiao long bao, wok for deep fried food, boiler for noodles and a powerful dough/batter blender, simple and yet complete. The lady owner is really good in making dough food, once I ordered she immediately made it on the spot, then passed it to her husband (my guess) to deep fry it. It was freshly made and served. I used to be sceptical in eating to Chinese food as they tended to put msg to most cooked food. Anyway, it has done already and I ate it without thinking further. Chives was green and crumble egg was soft, taste…light and good, confirmed it has no MSG! Because I didn’t have the msg after taste. Pastry skin was crispy without oily feeling. It is good for a snack with a cup of soya bean drink. 繼續閱讀
