Nine Fresh is a chain that is known for its taiwanese desserts. This type of dessert is commonly in Jiufen (九份) of Taiwan. Nine Fresh is formerly known as BeansTalk, with its first outlet in Toa Payoh. It has since expanded to 6 outlets. This month from 12-21 Nov, the chain is having a promotion for its grass jelly, with strawberry pop, black sugar crystals, taro balls and milk ball at only $1.90.I used to visit the toa payoh outlet as it is near the place where I have yoga. Recently it has opened a new outlet in Ang Mo Kio central, which is quite near to my work place. I have ordered the GRASS JELLY SPECIAL ($2)With taro balls, aloe vera pearl jelly, black sugar jelly dice and milk ballfor takeaway. As the outlet is fresh from opening, it offers a free topping each day until Nov 10 for the first 2 weeks of opening. On the day I visit the outlet, the free topping is lotus seeds. It is sweet and soft.Remember to add the milk before eating the dessert. It is cooling and refreshing, especially when one is having it during such a hot day.

Formerly Beans Talk, Nine Fresh is a local brand in Singapore that specialises in taiwanese desserts and the name derives from jiufen (jiu = nine), a place located in Taiwan, famous for its taro balls. The company decided to rebrand from the previous beanstalk to focus on the authenticity of the popular Taiwanese dessert. Best of all? The prices are so affordable and yet delicious!Their toppings are : - Made and served fresh daily- Made without any artificial colouring or preservative- Priced affordably so everyone can enjoy themThey are starting a huge sweep of new stalls all across Singapore. This ang mo kio stall has only been opened for 3 days! It is a hole in the wall shop, easy to miss with no dining area, but my mother managed to spot the floral opening decorations. With prices starting at $1.30 for drinks and $2 for a dessert bowl, we immediately gave them a try despite being full from lunch! This stall is located along the busy stretch of shops leading to AMK Hub, I am sure the heavy cross flow of pedestrian traffic should be able to keep this shop alive!1. Grass Jelly Special $2For $2 I did not expect such a huge takeaway bowl! It was filled 3/4 with grass jelly that tasted more like guiling gao. Their jelly was denser in texture and closer to that of guilingao, it didn't break easily when you try and cut it up with a spoon.Loved the taro balls, even though I felt like it was harder than others I've tried. I guess they could boil it for a slightly longer period? The chewy pearls were aloe vera pearl jelly with blck sugar jelly dice milk balls and to top it all over, the taro balls. Yeap all that for just $2!The provided milk they gave us was slightly salty and provided a nice mix of sweet and salty all in one bowl. The grass jelly itself was the sweetest in the mix, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I cannot wait to try their other signatures!
