For more details, visit umakemehungry.blogspot.sgOur usual weekends activities are always packed witih Food Exploring and this time round we had found some simple food that was located in the once very popular mall in Bukit Timah Vincity.Occupying an unit in Bukit Timah Plaza, Liu San Ge was recommended for its humble Taiwanese Food, with well known standard Taiwanese Dish like Braised Pork Rice, Oyster Mee Sua etc.Dining area was located at the opened area in front the the shop, just beside the mall's railings. Settings was quite traditional looking with wooden tables and benches. A few ladies was seen ever ready to service us as we approached the unit. Their service was attentive and quick, above average.Iced Rice Milk was surprisingly good. Tasted close to a bag of roasted Rice Tea, it totally floats my boat as it was neither too milky nor chalky. The light rice aroma and the cooling part during consumption was just too good to be true.Cost: $2.80 / CupOh No! Their signature's oyster mee sua was sold out and I had Noodle with Minced Pork Soup as the alternative. The broth was not too bad with soft soggy hand made noodles soaked within. It was also heavily garnished with beansprouts and spring onions. Simple yet fulfilling.Cost: $6.10Stated on the blackboard, Fish Ganache Rice requires some waiting time. A simple dish that was made special by deep-frying the fish fillet added with some cheese favour mayonnaise over it. It comes with a bowl of shredded cabbages heavily sprinkled with black vinegar used by the Xiao Long Baos.Cost: $7.50Mapo Toufu, was cut into smaller cubes and these braised tofu was cooked together with pork and spicy bean pastes. Even without pairing with plain rice they were just as Yummy!Cost: $7.30Overall I felt that this is the place for a hearty Taiwanese meal that worth the dollars.

Besides Oyster Mee Suah and its fried, crispy snacks, there is so much more to Taiwanese food.I discovered this place while shopping at Bukit Timah Plaza one day and have been going back whenever I can.My children love the Braised Chicken Rice, which was served skinless (if you choose) and with a delicious cold appetiser of Japanese cucumber marinated with soya sauce, chilli and vinegar. The Cold Dish of Braised Beef Shank was appetising because it was cold and well-marinated. It was quite a large, generous portion so it can serve about 3 to 4 persons.I waited quite long for the Fish Ganache Rice and when it came, it was overly-doused with mayonnaise. The fish was fried but not well because it turned out rather soggy. The Iced Rice Milk is something I LOVE!!! Too bad I didn't take a picture of it because my children and I couldn't wait to drink it! It has a earthy, walnutty taste that is not too creamy and yet light and refreshing to the palate. Highly recommended drink

One of the places in Singapore that serves Taiwanese Delicacies. If you come for lunch you will be able to order the popular dishes. If you come during dinner, most things would probably be sold out.One of the popular dishes is the Oyster Mee Suah. The Mee Suah is delicious. When you order it, they will ask if you want bean sprouts or parsley with it. (how thoughtful). If you like mee suah, you will most probably like their rendition of this dish. The Braised Minced Pork Rice is tasty too. It is simple looking, but it does taste rather good. it is very simple with rice, pickled cucumbers, a soft egg yolk hard boiled egg and the braised minced pork. This simple combination somehow taste rather nice.If you prefer noodles, you can have the Mince Pork Noodles. (Zha Jiang Mian) It's almost similar to the noodles, except instead of pickled cucumber, you have julienned vegetables. One thing to note is their service here. When you order a dish, they will ask if you like certain things in the dish. Even for the braised chicken rice, they will ask if you want skin on or skin off.
