Tenderfresh started from a retail origin with its first outlet located at Whitley Road Hawker Centre (which is no longer available after the land is acquired for alternative use). Back then, it was a humble establishment with an in-house recipe well-received by its customers. Tenderfresh soon becomes the talk of the town for its delectable charcoal barbecued Spring Chickens and Chicken Wings. Other items including Fried Spring Chickens, Chicken Wings and Fish and Chips quickly gained popularity among the customers. 繼續閱讀

For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comBeing a Singaporean, this business name Tenderfresh or "可爱鸡" should be no stranger to most of us. From a coffeeshop stall into a well established unit of its own along roads of popular supper areas in Bukit Timah, Tenderfresh has morph into a Bistro Version restaurant which offers a wide variety of Western Food to satiate diner's appetite. If you are clueless of who is behind this business, well, well, this adorable chick is actually the latest venture of our local Mediacorp Actor, Ben Yeo apart from his Play kitchen located in Jurong Point. Though it was on a weekday night the place was pack full of people lining up, waiting to make orders for their food. This big signage litterally consist of all pages of what was shown on the paper menu. It is placed at a strategic location - the entrance, thus passers by who are still deciding what to have for their meals may have easily caught hold by the Tenderfresh chickens illustrated. Be prepared to be spoilt for choices!Designs and decors on the wall looks hip, rather inviting especially when we walk pass the place. Diners are free to choose where they sit, on the high tables or the usual ones. And one best thing is that they are officially Halal. After queueing to order, we will get a reciept with order number. Once the indicated flashes our number, it means our food is ready for collection. Self service was observed through out the ordering process. Perhaps this is the plus point whereby no service charge and GST is involved.I'm too amazed by the fanciful combinations in their menu, thus I went back to the basic and order its fish and chips, the safest choice and nothing will go wrong. My order comes with a golden battered fish, big slice of gralic bread, potato skinned cut fries, coleslaw and lemon with Tatar sauce. Besides being impressed by the flavourful and chilled coleslaw, I like their fish. It was hot and its meat was chunky, easily fall off in parts. The traditional chicken chop set menu was extended with Spanish infusion of paella. Dish was well presented with a chicken chop steak with brown sauce by the side and coleslaw. The brown sauce was more towards soy taste and the chicken soup was supposed to be succulent as written on the menu turned out other wise. Meat was firm, a tad overcooked and dry whereas paella was plain. The dish in overall did not fall within my expectation range. After having their Tenderfresh Classic, a modern version of the western food I kind of miss the old school version of fish and chips or chicken chop with a fried bun by its side. 繼續閱讀

The latest venture belonging to Mediacorp actor/host Ben Yeo, this bistro located at the heart of Bukit Timah brings the best of western food to the residents as well as late-night supper-goers to their patrons, which encompasses the all-familiar Tenderfresh Fried Chicken as well as pasta from Play Kitchen, which was his first venture.Since the meal was going to be rather meaty, we went for a healthier side which we went for Marinated Mushrooms with Cherry Tomatoes ($5.00). It started off rather weird and quirky; the juicy and somewhat zesty tomatoes just did not seem to hit a note with the earthy and flavourful cold mushrooms, but with each spoonful it became rather tolerable and in fact tastier with every bite. The mushrooms were able to break the monotony of the usual salad, and adding Parmesan cheese definitely adds on to the taste factorThe Fries with Wasabi Mayo ($4.90) did not really hit off well with two of us, who were big fans of wasabi. We found it too tame although it carried a distinct flavour of wasabi less the numbing factor, but the other dining partner who was not very receptive of wasabi loved it as it was not too strong. Personal preferences, I would say.Because it was Tenderfresh, I could not do without ordering fried chicken. The Lucky Set ($7.90 with sambal sauce/$6.90 without sambal sauce) comes with two wings, fries and coleslaw. The fries were salted enough to taste with enough crisp, though I would love it thicker. Chicken Wings were huge, crispy and juicy. Tossed in a generous amount of sambal sauce, these wings reminded us of the days of Carona; carrying a real kick of spiciness that packs lots of oomph not meant for the light-hearted.One of my dining partners went for the Grilled Tilapia with Aglio Olio & Sambal ($8.90). The pasta was evenly tossed in herbs, chili, olive oil and pepper which carried a fragrant light yet peppery flavour; great enough on its own. On the other end, the Grilled Tilapia was well-grilled being crusty on the outside but felt rather dry and lacking of flavour. That was where the sambal sauce comes in handy, which adds a spicy kick to the fish. Interestingly the sambal sauce here is slightly different from the one served with the chicken, which is more dry and carried a heavier belachan taste. The other dining partner ordered a somewhat similar pasta, save for the Chicken Chop with Black Pepper sauce over it. To be honest, we were a bit confused with this dish; supposedly named Chicken Cutlet with Aglio Olio & Thai Sauce ($7.90), we were expecting a fried cutlet than a grilled one and there was really nothing Thai with it. The Aglio Olio was as good, and the grilled chicken was juicy and fragrant. We loved how it was, but we were caught off guard by what it turned out to be in reality from the menu. For more photos and the full review, please visit: http://jiaksimipng.wordpress.com/2014/04/17/tenderfresh-classic-cheong-chin-nam-road/ 繼續閱讀
