Headed there for a family dinner tonight. It was pouring so I called ahead to ask if there were seats for 12. Didn't want to make my grandparents walk all the way in the heavy downpour to wait but they refused to tell us if there were seats or if there was a long wait. Anyway I walked there with my brother and got us a table. The family came and there was a leak where we sat. Staff was really efficient in moving us to another table and setting things up for usOrdered the following:- Hotplate beancurd: So-so. Not out of the world but tasted decent.- Cereal prawns 麦片虾: CEREAL WAS AWESOME crisp and fried just enough.- Asparagus with scallops: Decent.- Sweet and Sour fish slices: not too sour, and the fish was filet well boneless!- Asam fish head: Thought the asam could be a little less watery but taste wise all was good. My grandparents loved this fish - King pork ribs 排骨王: Ribs were cooked just right. Sauce was not too overwhelming which is great. - Prawn rolls 腐皮卷: fried really well and the mayo was yummy! On the whole it was a good meal! Enjoyed he family time. Was a little rushed as they had an 8pm booking, but they apologized to us and were nice about it. 繼續閱讀

Chilli Crab is a popular dish known by many and it is arguably the best local dish right here at its birth place. Listed by CNN Travel at 35th in "World's 50 Most Delcious Food", Chilli crab is with no doubt, a must eat when it comes to travelling in Singapore. Let's just put it this way - You have not truly been to Singapore until you savour the chilli crabs. Located at Jurong West district, Big Eater Seafood could be identified with hundreds of signatures-filled crab shells hanging on the ceiling. Though it sure does look like a nightmare for crabs to end up in, tens and hundreds of crab-lovers throng to this particular seafood restaurant regularly and unite all in the name of this clawed creature. Do not miss out their signature Chilli Crab (seasonal price ~ S$43.00) - whole crab stir-fried in semi-thick, sweet and spicy tomato-based chilli sauce with eggs and ganished with cilantro. Crab claws are the most fleshy and convenient part, hence it is quite the obvious favourite to many and more often than not, served to guest or the elderly. However, the actual fun of eating a crab lies in using the crab cracker and claw out the meat (it might not seem like an appropriate similarity, but it is like how an anteater dig out ants from a tree bark. Oh yuck. I know.) Anyway, the sweet-spicy gravy is best eaten together with white rice, or even better with its sidekick -Deep Fried Buns (S$4.00 for 10), or better known as Chinese mantou. Salted Egg Yolk Crab (seasonal price ~ S$43.00) is another prefered way of cooking. The savoury flavour of the salted egg yolk infused with the natural sweet, juicy flesh tends to be difficult to resist. Oh, and if you're lucky enough, you might just get one that is full of delectable crab roes!Besides stir-frying with tomato-chilli and salted egg yolk sauce, other popular flavours include the drier and fragrant black pepper sauce and for the health gurus, how does steamed crabs sound? Crispy Prawn Roll (S$13.50) - fresh prawn paste is wrapped in thin layers of beancurd skin and then deep-fried, is highly recommended. Simple, yet an amazing dish with a subtle crisp. Therefore, we always have this at our table every single time.Deep Fried Chicken (S$12.00) is no less awesome with its juicy flesh hidden under a layer of crispy brown skin. With KFC's chicken getting smaller and standards going downhill, one day I might just switch here to satisfy my chicken cravings instead.Besides its speciality seafood, Big Eater Seafood Restaurant is also well-known for their authentic KL-style Hokkien Mee, Hor Fun and various local dishes. Definitely recommended for family dinners and late-night gatherings. 繼續閱讀

This review contains two sections: Food and Service.Heard that Big Eater Restaurant serves great crab dishes and fully crowded during the night. So, my mother, my grandmother, my aunt, and myself made our way down to be awed by their delights.FOOD:Here is what we orderedlain rice = $1.80Baked Crab with Special Egg Sauce = $41 Comment: Very delicious. They let you choose the crab to be cooked for your meal. My grandmother claimed that the crab was not the one she chose (This was smaller) but... well, it was delicious Hotplate beancurd = $9Comment: Totally not worth it. The prawns were really small. This has got to be the worst Tofu dish ever - Cooking Tofu takes a lot of skills, and I have eaten enough to know this isn't of average quality. My family was extremely dissatisfied. We did not finish this dish. Sweet and Sour Pork = $9Comment: After the shock from the Hotplate Beancurd, it was plain obvious the chef was better at cooking the sweet and sour pork dish. Enjoyed this one. Delicious! SERVICE:We got a table to seat quickly when we arrived thanks to the staffs' efficiency. A plus point to note. However, when my grandmother requested for a change of crab because she insisted that the crab was not the one that she chose and suspected something fishy, the staff turned NASTY. Like, real nasty. We gave a shrug and was fine with eating the crab that we were given. But we will not be returning in another year because there are many other great places to eat with friendlier staffs that equals Big Eater Restaurant.Total bill amount $60.80 繼續閱讀

My dad bought this seafood hor fun home for me as my dinner from this zi char stall which is located near his work place. The hor fun is definitely delicious but just a liitle too saltish! The hor fun texture is good. It is smooth, a liitle 'Q', not that soft and soggy. The prawns, sotong, fish cakes and vegetables are all fresh. But i especially love the prawns. It is really fresh and 'Q'! 繼續閱讀
