Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice has grown from an unknown stall to become one of the most recognised places for Hainanese Chicken Rice in Singapore. They especially pride themselves on their rice - light, smooth and slightly buttery with just a hint of garlic. 繼續閱讀

Whenever I craving for some really quality chicken rice, this famous chicken rice stall is definitely one of my favourite venue. Even though the restaurant is quite warm and squeezy, but service here is still descently friendly and helpful. Usually I would order both the hainanese white chicken and roasted chicken meat to go along with the chicken rice. Rice is very fragrant and moist, and full of the oily chicken rice fragrant. Both white and roasted chicken meats are soft and tender, and the chicken skins are both fragrant and soft. For less than $8 per serving, is reasonable. 繼續閱讀

Stall 10 at Maxwell Road Food Centre was the original outlet for Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice founded by Madam Foo Kui Lian. Now there are four outlets altogether.Hainanese chicken rice is indeed a gem of recipe adapted from early Chinese immigrants from Hainan province in Southern China. These bite-sized pieces of steamed white chicken with fragrant rice (pre-fried with chicken fat and cooked in chicken broth). Now with added pandan leaves for fragrant. Chicken meat accompanied by light or dark soya sauce, black sweet sauce, minced garlic paste and the fierceness of red chilli sauce. In most cases accompanied by a bowl of chicken broth, thin slices of cucumber together with the other sauces. While travelling along Jalan Pari Burong, I dropped by Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice at Simpang Bedok Branch.I bought half portion of the Steamed White Chicken for takeaway. There were two small plastic containers of minced garlic, a container of black sweet sauce together with a packet of chilli sauce and gravy for the chicken meat that goes along with the order. The steamed Hainanese white chicken is deliberately served slightly chilled which is moist and refreshing. The chicken skin very tender.I paid S$14.00 for half portion chicken. The steamed chicken rice light, fluffy, smooth with a slight buttery and garlic taste. Though the rice is in a small serving its good enough to eat just like that. Now I know why Anthony Bourdain said that the rice can be taken alone. He added that although simple it delivers a taste that develops wonderfully and engages with the senses. "Like all great successful stories, the fame of Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice is founded on courage, skill and passion." 繼續閱讀

To know Singaporean cuisine, one must definitely know Hainanese Chicken Rice. Contrary to most assumptions, this brand of chicken rice did not have its roots from the Hainan Island, but evolved right here in the little island of Singapore. And in Singapore, the title of Chicken Rice King is still hotly contested, with Tian Tian as a serious contender for the throne. 繼續閱讀

Was in search of a place for lunch after a game of tennis. The bus my boyfriend and I were taking passed by this row of shophouses along Simpang Bedok at Jalan Pari Burong. When I saw the bright blue signboard, it immediately caught my attention.I was in disbelief at first. Could it really be the same Tien Tien as our favorite Tien Tien Hainanese Chicken Rice stall from Maxwell Food Centre? The signboard looked exactly alike! We alighted at the bus stop just opposite the row of shophouses and headed to check it out. The famous restaurant was humbly nestled along the skirts of this peaceful housing estate. The ambience is perfect for one of those lazy, laid-back weekend lunches. We ordered the white steamed chicken with a side of chicken gizzards and a plate of beansprouts. The chicken, as usual, was tender and very flavorful. The meat was soft and juicy and the chicken skin was melt-in-your-mouth. The rice did not meet the usual Maxwell Food Centre standard. The texture was nothing impressive and taste wise, it proved a disappointment. My first mouthful and I turned to my boyfriend saying, "it tastes like the chicken rice I cook at home." I expected more from them. The beansprouts tasted pretty good. However, I would have enjoyed it more if it weren't so oily. I felt it was a tad bit too oily for my liking. But other than that, it was soft yet slightly crunchy and i enjoyed it 繼續閱讀
