Boon Tong Kee originated in 1979, serving silky white sauce Cantonese chicken rice that rose to popularity. The first restaurant was then established in 1983 at Balestier Road. The company diversified its operations in 1999 to include "Zi Char" (home-style cooked food) and eateries. 繼續閱讀

I've eaten in this outlet many times because I knew that they control the quality of "Zhi Char" food being served.I actually wanted to order soursoup juice, but the waiter said that they only served limited choice of drink (a barley drink or lemon lime juice). There seems to be no waiting upon our order for drinks. After my first sip, I found this to be too thick and sweet. Service no longer like the day time so efficient.People always loved Boon Tong Kee because of their famous Hainanese Chicken Rice and Signature Boiled Chicken. However, I found that it's chicken rice was not NICE ("Horribly") to be eaten and I did not know what is happening to my visit this time round. It might be possible for my friend and me to reach at wee hours (early morning 3.00 a.m.) because they close at 5.00 a.m. everyday. All food were not worth to be paid except for this dish.Last dish being served was our order of Sweet and sour fish and I could not enjoy the thin slices of fish because it almost take 30 minutes for it to be served.I sincerely hope that the chef can improve his home-style cook food so that there will be more repeated treasure customers for visiting this outlet to eat. 繼續閱讀

Typically, we would spot a long queue outside the restaurant with numbers being called. I went around dinner time and we waited for about 40 minutes before entering. The Environment is rather simple and Chinese-looking, with lights so brightly lit that we can't really stare at any decorations. The service was superb, we were attended by a rather old auntie, probably about her 50s, and she was kind and patient, keeping her smile on her face all the time!As usual, Boon Tong Kee is the sort of restaurant which would give you a wet towel and Braised peanuts. You can reject it and they wouldn't charge you for it, but most Singaporeans don't do so as it's rather cheap, say about $1.50-$2 for the Braised peanuts and $1 for the wet towel.Lime juice and Ice lemon tea $2.90 each. Trying both set of beverages, I would recommend the lime juice for its refreshing taste and not too sour concentrate. The ice lemon tea was a little diluted, though perhaps it may be a rather healthier option as compared to other types of ice lemon tea served by other restaurants!Tasty imperial chicken - $13Order the Tasty Imperial Chicken when it's available, the waitress will gladly inform you and I highly recommend it. This is one of the most delicious tasting imperial chicken ever, probably Boon Tong Kee got a very good supplier of chickens. Tender on the inside and fragrant on the outside, I would champion this imperial chicken as the best chicken I ever tasted!Crispy Egg Tofu - $9This is another dish that I would greatly recommend you. The tofu is soft and springy on the inside, and the skin was crispy and tantalising to the taste buds! Indeed only a highly skilled chef could cook the tofu so evenly.Close-up of Crispy Egg TofuJust look at that. This makes me want to go back again! 繼續閱讀

The Roasted Chicken was made on the spot and had to wait approximately 20minutes. For the sake of having the dish fresh and hot, the wait I guess is worthy? The fish maw soup is a good alternative in replace of sharks fin soup. More environmental friendly and nature conserving. People who is anti sharks fin soup can order this dish instead. The Sambal Kang Kong and the signature boil white chicken is a hor favourite for many. Afterall, it's their signature dish right.A good chinese local meal for a group gathering or family gathering. 繼續閱讀

I'm a number 1 fan of chicken rice! This time, I'm at Boon Tong Kee @ Whampoa West to try their chicken rice. We ordered the sliced top shell served with greens, minced pork ball and Hainanese chicken. The portion is a fat and flavorful boiled chicken; tangy chili coating slices of top shell with plenty of green; Minced pork is a bit tough to bite but it's very well marinated. The whole place is very bright and clean, well-maintained by friendly servers with great service! 繼續閱讀

Ate there for lunch just now, unfortunately i did not bring my camera with me if not i would have taken a picture of the succulent chunks of chicken i ate! The meat was so tender and the skin was just oily enough. Looking at it made my mouth water instantaneously. Nevermind the surroundings or the ambience or the service staff. What i was there for was the chicken rice and that i did have! 10/10 for the chicken rice. The added perk was that it was in the air conditioned environment which was very important for me as the weather outside was sweltering!!! A great place to go for Brunch! Eat in relative comfort without melting! 繼續閱讀
