When it comes to carrot cake, one would think that it is a quite sinful due to the several sauces and oil added. However, a healthy version of the carrot cake is made available at the boon lay food market. This dark version of the carrot cake has a taste which is actually less salty and oily as compared to other carrot cake stall. How's about the combination of a delicious plate of Char Kway Teow (CKT) topped with some "Bah Hu", you got it here in Boon Lay Place Market and Food Village. The founder of this stall had started frying the plate of CKT since 1956 and till today its quite hard to find CKT that comes with "Bah Hu" (Meat Floss). The founder of this stall had started frying the plate of CKT since 1956 and till today its quite hard to find CKT that comes with "Bah Hu" (Meat Floss).

I quite like the combination as i find them very special, moreover i love "bah hu". The CKT was fried quite well and moist enough. The use was dark black sauce was consistent throughout the plate. Given that the whole plate was in dull brown color, the greens added had actually enlightened the presentation of the plate!

Cost: S$3.00 (Medium)

One of the cheapest white carrot cake I had ever eaten only at $2 per dish and you can choose the white one or the black one! I prefer white carrot more as no dark sauce is added, thus we can taste the original taste of the white radish. I really love it, although it is slightly oily. But the egg on it is really well cooked, I can picked up and eat every slight bit of it. Some of the stall will spread egg mixture between the carrot cake and it is so small that you barely can see. Do note that t

Do note that the queue is really long on weekend!

This is my first time trying carrot cake from this store. Although i live jurong area, i don't really travel to Boon lay for food. Well, when I was at there, this carrot cake store was on Television as it was nominated as one of the Singapore cheapest food. The carrot cake costs $2. It really like the texture of it, it was soft and springy. The egg was fully cooked. It was not very oily. They only cooked immediately on the spot once you ordered so it will take a little longer time.

This stall whips out unique char kway teow- it is served with green vegetables and pork floss! The char kway teow only costs $2.50 for a small plate, but I am nonetheless satisfied by the freshly fried, piping hot noodles that is very flavourful. The sauce has been spread evenly between the noodles and the additional fresh ingredients used in this dish really makes the dish really nice!

This was a very fragrant packet of char tau kueh. For $2.50, it was a substantial portion for breakfast. It was not too sweet as there was not too much black sauce added. There were some parts that were a little burnt which added to the crispness of the dish. When I was there, there were not many people so I got my food quite fast! (:

This is one of the rare stalls that I see has floss and green vegetables together with its kway tiao. There is the $2.50 version as well as $3 and $5. I went for the normal $2.50 version. The amount of floss given is really quite a lot. They are not stingy with the ingredients. The kway tiao is fried slightly sweeter, which is just as well since the floss is a salty. The vegetables also provide a crunch to the dish with the vegetable stalks. Overall, I felt that this stall's char kway tiao is re

I like to eat fried carrot cake.Because of it softness and stickiness. It is abit sticky and it taste nice with some fried egg.It is just a simple dish, but i like it because of it fragrance. It is a bit like the "Cha kueh kak" in m'sia. But it's egg is adding more.So it taste different.Another different is the color. We can order white or black fried carrot cake.I prefer the black one, because it is more tasty.

The stall looked famous so I decided to try their char kway teow. I ordered the smallest serving at $2.50. The plate was small but the noodles was piled up so actually the serving is not that little after all. Their xiao bai chye is not fried together with the rest of the kway teow and they have a special pork floss topping. I thought it was quite weird at first but the pork floss tasted well with the noodles! The kway teow was quite sweet, did not have the burnt taste. The amount of cockles an

The kway teow was quite sweet, did not have the burnt taste. The amount of cockles and fishcakes inside was reasonable. A light dinner!

I have heard of good reviews about the Char Kway Tiao from this stall, which is what made me try it. The waiting time is quite long, but the food is worth the wait. The Char Kway Tiao is the thinner kway tiao (as compared to other kway tiaos I have tried before). The kway tiao is the drier version and it is not clumpy together. I love the sweet sauce the uncle used to fry the kway tiao, it is sweet and very addictive. Even so, I still like to add some chilli for extra ommph factor. Do try it if
