My friend invite this Hong Kong style cafe to have breakfast but the name & food not match Hong Kong taste ❌❌❌The soup is no taste, the egg is normal. As the place is not crowded, we decide to drop for a quick brunch before rushing off to bring JJ for class. The cafe is open concept and has quite a huge dining in area. Although we get the choice of table, it is also the start of a sad meal. Firstly we are told by the staff that credit card is not accepted as the machine is down. Although it is just past 10am, the staff keeps pressuring us to order as they will change menu by 11am. In the end we order breakfast items before 11am. I make a quick view at the normal menu and have found the items available are available in the normal menu in same prices. Do not know what is the rush. So upsetting. Another thing why we choose this restaurant is that it offers free wifi. But we cannot login no matter how we try. Guess the machine must be down too.Ham Bo Lo Bun ($4.90++)Looks not bad, but quite messy to handle.Sampan Congee ($9.50++)It is porridge with cuttle fish, sliced fish, sliced pork and braised peanuts in it. The braised peanuts reminds me of the canned version found in supermarket. Father does not quite take to the texture of the porridge. He says that it is like baby food with its mushy texture.Pork Chop, Egg, Toast 'N' French Fries ($8.50++)The pork chop is tough and difficult to slice through. Seafood 'N' Sliced Pork Macaroni Soup ($8.50++)There is barely any flavour in the soup. Quite a plain dish to have.French Toast with Ice Cream ($6.50++)The toast is not crispy enough and slice through with the rather blunt knife given. Tonight we are having dinner here. Quite crowded. We are showed to a sofa seat. For drinks, we have Iced Coconut Float ($6.50++), which tastes like cannned coconut drink, topped with a scoop of coconut ice cream.Iced Lychee Tea ($4.90++), which tastes like bottled lychee tea.HK Ying Yong ($3.20++), which just tastes like coffee.As for food, we share the following : Pork Chop 'N" Egg Papaya Soup Bee Hoon ($10.90++) The milky soup is quite tasty and the bee hoon is full flavourful. The pork chop is quite tender. Quite unique for this dish.XW Signature Stir-fried Noodles ($10.90++)The noodles has flavour but seem to have reheated before serving as some potions is cold, while some potions taste hot. Quite uneven.Black Pepper Pork Chop Spaghetti ($9.90++)The tomato sauce in the spaghetti is a bit too much for me.French Toast with Ice Cream ($5.90++)The toast is served cold and I have difficulties in cutting the toast. Decide to dine at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe for some decent Asian dinner one night, service wasn't as efficient as we were waiting at the queue for quite awhile despite seeing empty tables, this outlet always seem to be short-staffed. So anyway I've got myself the Sliced Fish & Egg Papaya Soup Noodle ($8-10), couldn't remember the exact price. The light soup base was savoury with hint of sweet papaya taste and the dish also comes with hard boiled egg which I believe would be better if it's its half boiled, the corn and sliced fish was okay. I wouldn't order again because it's something I believe I can easily whip up at home. My friend got the Macau Style Fried Noodle ($6.90), it's not that awesome but at least it was flavorful in a reasonably generous amount. But then again I wouldn't order this next time because it kind of has the instant noodle feel to it though. Despite some disappointments, there's always room for desserts! My friend and I shared the famous XW Special Mango Snow Ice ($6.90) which is always one of the must order in their menu. As you can see, the portion is generously sufficient even to be shared, we couldn't finish it. The mango sauce were not too sweet and the mango bits and ice cream compliments well together. A suggestion to this place? A huge improvement they can make is to serve customers sitting at the same table their orders together. From past experiences, my friend and I would always have to start eating first before all our orders come together, it's kind of disappointing at that part. Menu and service level can also be worked on. Overall, the reasons I still return are because of convenience and the restaurant's operating hours. Xin Wang Hong Kong Café has just reopened recently with a new look after been closed for some times for upgrading. It is a hot favourite place with the young people as it opens till 2am everyday. The red coloured booth seats are gone, replaced with new light blue seats. The former red and black decoration is now replaced with woody look, which makes the place looks fresh and bigger.The menu now has a new colourful look, with the same items as before. There is also another new menu with new items too.Sour Plum Coke ($4.90++) is one of the new items offered in the new menu. It is actually normal coke, served with ice cubes and sour plum in a plastic jar. It tastes like normal coke but with sour plum aftertaste.Coconut Cream with Sago ($7.90++) is listed as a warm dessert on the menu. Served in a hot coconut, we are disappointed to taste cold coconut cream inside. The coconut cream with sago tastes like bo bo cha cha but without the sweet potato and yam cubes. The coconut flesh tastes a bit old.As mom wants to try the bamboo rice, we order a HK Steamed Chicken 'N' Mushroom Bamboo Rice ($8.90++). The chicken is quite soft and flavourful, and goes well with the black soya sauce rice below. Dad has requested for Mango 'N' Pomelo Cream ($6.90++) which turns to be an interesting dessert. In a big cup of shaved ice, topped with a scoop of ice-cream, mango cubes, pomelo flesh and cutes little white pearls. As one bites into the white pearls, pomelo juice bursts into the mouth. What a feeling.At first during ordering, I have asked the staff what is the different between HK Famous Cheese Baked Pork Chop Cream Sauce Spaghetti ($11.90) and HK Famous Cheese Baked Pork Chop Spaghetti ($11.90). The staff has replied that latter does not have spaghetti, which makes us all ever more blur than ever. In the end another staff comes along and replies that latter does not have cream sauce. It quite a cheesy dish, with a very tender pork chop. This XW Special Stir-fried Spare Ribs Bee Hoon($10.90++) takes the longest time to arrive. The spare ribs tastes like the canned version as the bones and meat are very soft (characteristics of canned version). The bee hoon is very flavourful, but coupled with the spare ribs it becomes a bit too salty.As the bill exceeds $50 (before GST and service charge), when making payment by DBS credit card, one is given a free beancurd. Please note that this promotion is only DBS credit card. It tastes quite smooth and it topped with mango cubes. The taste of the beancurd is similar to the new trend of bean curd such as Lao Ban.Overall the staffs are quite helpful and friendly. Went for lunch at xin wang and i ordered yuzu green tea and pork chop burger while my other friends ordered horfun , baked rice and noodles. The total bill for 6 of us adds up to about $80+ and we gort a complimentary tou hua ( free if you bill adds up to $ 50 and u pay by DBS card). The taste was ok and the yuzu green tea is nice. Hoever the waiting time was quite lone. My burger was the first to be served and the rest of the food took quite a long time to come, esp the baked rice. All of us have finished eating our food when the baked rice is served. I was at Northpoint to meet up with friends. All of us felt like sitting down somewhere nice to eat and chit-chat. This place gets a little crowded because their prices are reasonably priced. Maybe due to the size of the crowd, the service of the staff seems a little disoriented and overwhelmed. Otherwise I assume they would be better on good days. We ordered Toast, Tart, Mango Snow Ice etc. The toast and mango snow ice is huge! luckily I was not alone and with a group of friends who can help share the "burden". the others was okay. nothing spectacular. In Chinese culture, Mee Sua soup was known as ‘’Longevity Noodles’’, thus many Chinese eat Mee Sua soup on their lunar calendar birthday. So far, I know there was two ways to cook Mee Sua, either in soup or fried. I like both versions, and I discovered one more solution for Mee Sua, dry-stirred Mee Sua.I impressed the ideology of Mee Sua in this restaurant, it served Mee Sua just like plain rice and I eat it along with the other dishes we ordered. The Hor Fun in Xin Wang Hong Kong Café is quite different from those that are sold in the food courts and hawker centres. It tastes much more bland and the sauce on the hor fun is whiter in colour. It suits people who prefer food of lighter taste. Xin wang hong kong cafe serves hong kong delights as well as western delights. There are many types of main courses, sides, drinks and desserts to choose from. They serve hong kong noodles, claypot rice and many others. Also, their dim sums, toasts are delicious! Hong kong style milk tea, yuan yang are served in metal cups! How cool is that!This is chicken baked rice. I always order this when I patronise the restaurant. The cheese is melted to the right texture and the chicken is seasoned and grilled to perfection! I'm never a Milo fun but when my friend ordered their Milo Dinosaur, I was tempted to try it.I now understand why she loves it very much. It's a must try.I had the Pork Chop Baked Rice. Xin Wang offers eel porridge which may sound unusual to some people. Eel in japanese cuisine usually goes with rice but this combination of porridge with eel is especially good too!
