It's been a long time since we last came here.Today is a rainy day & we need piping hot soup to warm us up...So we came here for dinner...before going for our weekly grocery shopping in that mega, air-conditioned supermarket. There was no queue & we got seated rather quickly. The pictures & decors on the walls & shelves above were very nostalgic.Tables & seats were decently spaced apart. The Menu had been upgraded but so is the prices... The Soups used to be $4.50 onwards just a few months ago...now they're at least $6 onwards...The soup bowl used to be almost double the rice bowl...now they're the same size...We didn't want a fat-laden meal so we didn't order the Pork Ribs Soup. Then again, all varieties of meat were drowned in the same pot of hot peppery stock...Pig's Stomach Soup 猪肚汤 ($6) - the pieces of stomach were huge & long- not as tender & soft as it used to be- it took me a long time to chewPork Tenderloin Soup 腰肉片汤 ($6.50) - big pieces of meat- tender but still QQ Kai Lan 芥兰 ($3.50) - a just portion for that price- but older Kai Lan was used- the thick stems & leaves needed careful chewing- oyster sauce is bland- fried shallots are crispyBraised Beancurd Skin 焖腐竹 ($3.50) - huge pieces were served- the Beancurd Skin were probably braised whole but they'd forgotten to cut into smaller pieces before serving- tasted just nice, not too salty- it's not soft but rather Q enough as a good biteRice 白饭 (80cents) - soft but not fragrance enough to attract a second orderDid u know...This is the gesture to inform the service staff to top up our soup. We liked the fact that there's no service charge. We liked they kept their wet tissues priced at 20cents each.We liked the efficient elderly service staff...they're friendly & warm.We liked the hot peppery soup, especially on a rainy day...In fact, we liked it so much that we'd asked to top up our soup 3 times!Shiokalicious!Verdict: Tips:Ignore the rest, just order the Pork Ribs Soup 排骨肉骨茶 ($7)...only the Pork Ribs Soup! No, not even the Premium Loin Ribs Soup 特级龙骨肉骨茶 ($9.50) - not worth it...

I was craving for bak kut teh for awhile already and finally got to eat it for dinner! We ordered pork ribs soup each, and a side serving of salted vegetables, dough fritters and plain rice! For drinks, we just ordered the homemade barley water as we were afraid tea would cause us to have insomnia later! I like that the flesh comes off easily and the soup is very flavourful! I prefer to eat the dough fritter by itself rather than dipping it into the soup as I don't like soggy fritters. I like the salted vegetables too! Anyway, service is pretty efficient and they kept refilling our soup! Dinner cost us $20++ which is very reasonable!

Song Fa’s broth is peppery and garlicky, but also on the sweetish side. The ribs seem less fatty and also more fibrous but flavourful. The premium loin ribs and the pork ribs soup both the meat are luscious, for whatever reason, most of the Bak Kut meat we have eaten are not as tender as we expect, somehow, Song Fa has the most tenderness and springy meat compared to the other four top guns on the list. This is one of the plus points the shop scored well. It will satisfy most of the fans of Bak Kut Teh from young to old. Most of the side dishes are not too outstanding and not worth mentioning. Discovered this place when we went NTUC X-tra at Changi Business ParkDecor in 1960s nostalgia feel. There is a clear big board at the side of entrance with mouth watering pics of dishes, but no prices indicated -___-Interior with tables and chairs/stools in 1960s coffee shop style. The high ceiling created a spacious environment to dine in comfortably.Interior with tables and chairs/stools in 1960s coffee shop style. The high ceiling created a spacious environment to dine in comfortably. There's a decorative wall very nicely done up but I was the only one taking pics and gotten weird stares from people -____-||| The menu is like a table mat, same mouth watering pictures as the board outside, but with prices of course.Premium Loin Ribs S$8.50Pepperish garlic soup with tender ribs, a very simple dish, yet it's so enjoyable.Purpose of this pic is to show the size of the rib.Soup is refillable upon request.Drinking soup with spoon is a hassle. I know it's bad table manners, but I'll forgo manners for pleasure.Gobble straight from the rooster bowl!!!Braised Beancurd Skin with Chicken Feet S$3.50Bean curd skin not fried till golden brown, but the pair of chicken feet was crazy delicious. Some "skills" acquired to eat this: Bite the claws into your mouth, suck out all the skin and meat, spit out the little bones like bullets, heehee.....Salted Vegetable S$2.20This is my all time favourite dish with rice, porriage or rice noodles.Braised Pig's Trotters $6.50Came with chewy pig skin and nice portion of lean meat. It's tender but not mushy, nicely braised without being too salty. We order a bowl of plain rice S$0.70/bowl and lime juice for S$1.70. Total bill was $23.50, which I think it's very reasonable with a comfortable aircon environment.

Went there for a Friday escape lunch. As usual it's packed to the brim. The decor invokes 70s style singapore as the shop proudly shows off its awards and heritage. The bak ku Teh soup is flavourful and slightly peppery spicy. The savoury dish definitely goes very well with rice! The pork is tender after the long hard boil and its tasty as well. My lunch clique also ordered kailan in oyster sauce and fried dough sticks. The latter are to be eaten after dipping into the aromatic soup. Simply sedap!!! Free soup refills are also available if you can't get enough of their signature soup.A tasty escapade and an excellent prelude to weekend!
