I usually dine at VivoCity outlet of Paradise Dynasty as this is one of my favourite Chinese restaurant. The first Paradise Dynasty that I knew and dine at was when it started out at Ion Orchard. Ever since, I have been returning for more.Paradise Dynasty is a name I am sure need no introduction, as many must have known about it by now. It is fame for its colourful Xiao Long Bao in various filling. Some may find certain filling exotic when it was first introduced. I did back then.Dynasty Signature Xiao Long BaoBased on the name, Dynasty 8 Flavours Xiao Long Bao, one would have known that there are 8 flavours. The original is in the centre. Starting from the Green, clockwise; Ginseng, Foie Gras, Truffle, Cheesy, Garlic and Crab Roe and Szechuan. If diner like any a particular flavour, diner could order just for that flavour in 6s or 10s. Personally, my favourite is still the original.Shanghai Dim SumOn Paradise Dynasty Menu, 14 Shanghai Dim Sum are offered. They are mainly the classic Shanghai Dim Sum.Pork Dumpling with Hot Chilli Vinaigrette is a dish I seldom order. In fact, I ordered it only once. It is not that I didn’t like it but I don’t usually dine with a huge enough group to allow me to order both the Xiao Long Bao and Pork Dumpling.La MianParadise Dynasty offers 8 La Mian in Pork Bone Soup selections and 9 other La Mian.La Mian in Signature Pork Bone Soup has a dense an rich soup full of pork flavour. And I like the egg with runny yolk that came with the bowl of noodle soup. All the La Mian in this category are similar except for the main topping.Pork Dumpling La Mian in Chilli Sauce and many more are available for selection. Noodles are very much the same. Likewise, it depends on what ingredient does diners prefer to have it with the handmade noodles.DishesScrambled Egg White with Fish and Conpoy has mainly egg white topped with only a single yolk on centre. It is not quite my kind of dish as I prefer yolk. But I like this dish.Diners could opt for the Stir-fried River Shrimp in Spicy Bean and Tomato Sauce too. Though this isn’t quite kind of my dish.An healthy option is the Stewed Sliced Fish in Chinese Wine. For Szechuan Specialty, one could turn to Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chicken. The chicken in this dish was so crispy. I find the spice level acceptable.Quite a good selections of greens are also available.MainsAmong the few rice option at Paradise Dynasty, I usually turned to Yangzhou Fried Rice but strangely, I couldn’t find a photo of this dish in my archive.Shanghai Fried Rice is pretty similar to the Yangzhou Fried Rice except that it is fried with an additional dark sauce. Personally, I still prefer the YangZhou Fried Rice.DessertsThe desserts offered at Paradise Dynasty has a mixed of Shanghai dessert and Hong Kong Style dessert.Pan Fried Pancake with Red Bean Paste and the Banana Souffle like Shanghai Dessert are 2 of the available selection. For the more conventional diner, they could go for the Mango Pudding or Lemongrass Jelly.Diners are definitely spoiled for choice, as always when diners are at Chinese Restaurant. The must order at Paradise Dynasty is certinaly the Xiao Long Bao. 繼續閱讀

Went to Vivocity Paradise Dynasty, which was conveniently located at Harbourfront MRT station. Finally got to try the famous 8 flavoured xiao long bao! The 8 flavours are Original, Garlic, Ginseng, Foie Gras, Black Truffle, Cheese, Crab Roe, and Szechuan. My personal favourites are the foie gras and ginseng. This is because they tasted closest to their names, while displaying fragrance and flavour that makes you crave for more. The crab roe and cheese taste weird in my opinion, but it still was interesting and innovative to come out with different flavour xiao long baos. The garlic and black truffle however were not really convincing. I had expected more flavour from the garlic one as garlic dishes usually taste strong in garlic taste. We ordered 8 pieces for each pax and it was just sufficient for us to keep our tummies filled. For big eaters, you may wish to order another small dish to add on.The restaurant is big  and spacious with plenty of seatings. There may be a short wait during peak meal times. Staffing is bad though. We had to wait very long for our orders and for the bill. 繼續閱讀

I went to Paradise Dynasty (Legend of the Xiao Long Bao) with my friends earlier sometime last week to try out the restaurant's signature 8 flavoured soup dumplings! The restaurant is part of the Paradise Dynasty Group. I am a fan of their food! So here I am at the Vivocity Branch! The restaurant is HUGE. You don't have to worry about the space here. I came here during lunch early, and it almost seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves. So we chose the seat which is nearest to the glass tall window, which offers us the view of the opposite Sentosa. There is only Pu-er tea here, so that's what we had.The lady waitress handed us the menu, and we ordered the signature 8 flavor dumplings ($14.80) at once!8 flavoured soup dumplingsThe soup dumplings were served in multi-colours, namely: White, Green, Light Brown, Black, Yellow, Orange, Grey and Pink. (WHAT?!, you ask.)Take note, what's interesting is, there's an order to eating these things!Remember the colours I mentioned above? I have already put them in its eating order. The flavours:White: Original Soup Dumpling flavour (Start with this one)Green: GinsengLight Brown: Foie GrasBlack: Black TruffleYellow: CheesyOrange: Crab RoeGrey: GarlicPink: Szechuan (End with this!)Apparently, eating it in order enhances the overall taste and will best bring out each of the 8 distinct flavours! To me, the ones which stood out to me the most were the original flavour, the foie gras and the black truffle. The rest had a good taste overall (I totally wasted the Ginseng one because mine broke!!!!!) but did not stand out like the 3 flavours I just mentioned. The 3 flavours were rich in its soupy formula and nice to taste. If I had to pick my favourite, it would be the Black truffle Xiao Long Bao. My least favourite, however, was the Szechuan (pink) one. I would have appreciated it further if it was more flavourful, rather, it was very mild and not exciting enough. We also ordered other dishes:La Mian with Pork Slices and Signature Pork Bone SoupThe La Mian with Sliced Pork in Signature Pork Bone soup ($9.80) was very good in totality. The noodles were of the right consistency, the pork tasted just right (with the right amount of fat), the egg was slightly wobbly in texture but firm.Ta-dah! Ready to enjoy! The soup base - OH LA LA - I must say. It was delicious yet did not feel overpowering, like some bone soups can be. It did not taste like it was made up of MSG. I understand from the menu that the this soup has been simmered under slow fire for 12 hours (SERIOUSLY!). I would rate this dish 4 golden stars. hahaha. It fits my requirements for a good lunch, you know. The portion is good for 2 people to enjoy, if you're also ordering the soup dumplings - which is a must-have since you're in a restaurant which specialises in soup dumplings right!Crisp-Fried Whitebait with Salt and PepperCrisp-Fried Whitebait with Salt and Pepper ($9.80) was well done. I loved the slight taste of salt as I munch down these crispy things. No taste of pepper, but this makes for a very good snack. Unfortunately, I felt that it was quite expensive for such a small plate. The size is not exactly worth its price.Shanghai Fried RiceThe Shanghai fried rice ($10.80) is nice, it is not too oily and not too dry. Ingredients also tasted fresh and succulent (prawn bits).Cold tofu with Century EggWhat do you get when you put cold tofu and century egg together? One of my favourite dishes! This dish was appetizing and a tad salty. But the good kind, if you know what I mean. Century egg is something you enjoy if you love it, and if you don't love it, you'll probably never enjoy it no matter how they make it. Thank goodness, I love it! Such a boring name and a literal translation at that - Cold tofu with Century Egg ($6.80), pretty much explains it all. Dessert Time! How can we miss this out?Souffle Egg White Balls Stuffed with Red Bean and BananaPan fried Pastry Red Bean PancakeWe shared the Souffle Egg White Balls Stuffed with Red Bean and Banana (3 pcs for $4.80) and the Pan fried Pastry Red Bean Pancake ($6.50).I can't say I love the dessert, because I'm not exactly a red bean and banana person. But I have to say that they have made this traditional dessert very well and I enjoyed eating it regardless. I also like that for the red bean pancake, the outer skin tastes like puff pastry. It was interesting to eat and it's something I would recommend to my friends to check out.In summary, I feel that the food here is still a tad expensive, but really worth a try! But for the budget conscious, I would really just order the noodle soup and the 8 coloured soup dumplings, because these 2 dishes have left the most impact on me during this visit. this is not the first time i been to Paradise Dynasty but the first to try out their different flavours of xiao long bao. xiao long bao is one of my favourite food and i am quite particular over the texture and taste. The meat must be soft and the skin does not break easily and each of them must be filled with the delicious soup!Original - one word. Juicy. the best word to describe XLB. cos if there is no soup inside, it will fail big time for XLBGinseng - a very light taste of ginseng but not very strong.Foie Gras - Manz, i think other than truffle, this is the more exquisite XLB. The taste is like you have a mouthful of steam foie gras but i still preferBlack Truffle - This is my favourite. I dont know when truffles become my favourite but this is definitely a must eat for me. Filled with 1 thinly sliced truffle. The relationship between truffle and XLB is a "made in heaven" matchCheesy - not my cup of tea. I seriously find it taste weird when cheese is mixed with minced pork especially those that is marinated to XLB taste. Maybe i am not too cheese person.Crab Roe - the most sinful among all but it taste sooo good.Garlic - this one is quite normal except it has a garlic taste. Overall the taste is still okSze Chuan - i almost choke due to it's spiciness .scramble egg white with crab meatthis happens to be one of my favourite dish lately. The raw egg yolk mixed into the egg white and crab meat together with vinegar. It may sound a weird dish to many but it taste really good! the vinegar apparently can remove the "xin" aka raw smell and taste of the crab meat and raw egg yolk!minced pork with seasonal beansthis dish is slightly too salty for me. But of cos it will go better with plain rice as we had fried rice instead.Preserved Vegetable fried ricei love this fried rice especially the vegetable! the vegetable is very crunchy and gives a different flavor to normal fried rice!stirred fried beef with mushroomsthe beef is very tender and is stirred fried with black pepper sauce. i prefer the mushrooms over the beef haha despite the beef is very good. overall i love this dish tooFood : ***Price : ****Customer service : ***Overall, will i come again? yes. i will return for more XLB 繼續閱讀

Wanted to try out this place when I walked past the branch at Causeway Point but was extremely crowded then, so I was delighted to find that there's a newly opened branch at Vivo! Their offerings are Chinese food like lamian, xiao long bao, dumplings and other side dishes. The whole place was huge with many tables and seats in there, but don't worry they are not close together so it still feels very spacious. We had the sliced pork lamian in signature pork bone soup, drunken chicken and their signature 8 flavour xiao long bao. Slice Pork Lamian in Signature Pork Bone SoupThis is really comfort food to me. Featuring lamian with a texture and bite that was just right, 5 big slices of pork, a generous portion of seaweed, half an egg (flavourful and the yolk was still a little runny, perfect!) and xiao bai cai, I thought this bowl was perfect in every way. It provides carbs, substantial amount of veg and protein in a very lovely and comforting broth. However I personally prefer if the pork slices were a little more fatty, which will give the meat more flavour and tenderness as I find it quite dry and tough. Other than that, this dish is great and I'd definitely order it again. Signature 8 Flavour Xiao Long BaoThe 8 flavours are original, ginseng, foie gras, black truffle, cheese, garlic, crab roe, szechuan. I tried these 4 flavours --> Original: not very nice, I still prefer Crystal Jade's. Black Truffle: the soup had a hint of truffle, I quite liked it. Crab Roe: I could taste and see a little of the roe. Garlic: had a subtle garlicky taste. Overall the flavours are all quite light, a stronger taste would be good for me. These are worth a try but I feel that it's nothing memorable on the whole. Drunken ChickenI've always loved this dish hence I ordered it when I saw it on their menu. Served cold, the chicken leg doused with wine was nice and did not deviate from how it should taste like. The chicken could be more tender though. They have many other lamian offerings and I'll be back to try them! Do note that plain water is chargeable at 30cents. 繼續閱讀
