While we are still discussing where to have our late night dinner after movies, suddenly my hubby shouted "民众" from behind! But we just had it YESTERDAY! Lol. Ming Chung Restaurant (民众), started in 1933, specializes in Authentic Heng Hua (兴化) cuisines. They used to be operating near Sungei road before moving to Maude.

兴化卤面 Henghua Lor Mee- Their signature noodles. The heng Hua noodles has a good springy texture. The broth is sweet & fragrant, from the combination of lor bak, la la clams, prawns, sliced pork, vegetables etc! It's a HIT!! Add in vinegar & it's a Da Bomb! The next "must-order" dish is la la clams. Stir fried in spicy bean paste sauce, the gravy is sooo good!

Other than these 2 delicious dishes, my hubby's usual order will also includes Deep Fried Batang fish, Cuttlefish kangkong, Prawn Paste Chicken Wings etc... The fish & chicken wings are so crispy & yummy, you will lay your fingers for more! Cuttlefish is Q & vegetables really fresh. (So now you know why DIETING always fails??! 😂😂😂) Try the deep fried prawns also.
Another locals favorite is the prawn rolls, but those sold here tasted ordinary to me so you could skip it


Conclusion: Most of the dishes here are good, portions ideal. Prices are reasonable. The restaurant has 2units, air-con & non air-con areas for you to choose. Ample parking in opp. building. So what are you waiting for? Move your butts here!

This shop has been around for a long time,they used to have only 1 shop space but now they have expanded to 2 and there is air conditioning.I ordered lohmee,stir fry kailan with beancurd as well as spicy lala.Portion is good and taste is great.The lohmee is different from normal lohmees we eat elsewhere that is dark in color.This white version here also comes with lala as well.The noodles are handmade and taste more like ban mian.The lala is very good,spicy,addictive and shiok.

Tonight dinner a treat from dad. Since it is a free dinner so must order more dishes.As usual long Q... It is famous for Lor Bee and fried Beehoon. But tonight I feel more like eating Lor Bee.Lor bee- The main star of coming to eat. The FoodI ordered Xing Hua Bee Hoon and Deep Fried Batang Fish.The bee hoon is tasty and fragrant especially with the fried spring onions that was added into the bee hoon. Inside have ingredients like prawns, sotong, vegetables, sliced lor bak and bean sprouts and all very fresh. I think that the bee hoon will taste even better and more flavourful if they have added clams and dried shrimps into the dish. As for the fish is tasty and wholesome but I find that the thickness of the fish is a litt

I ordered Xing Hua Bee Hoon and Deep Fried Batang Fish.
The bee hoon is tasty and fragrant especially with the fried spring onions that was added into the bee hoon. I think that the bee hoon will taste even better and more flavourful if they have added clams and dried shrimps into the dish.
As for the fish is tasty and wholesome but I find that the thickness of the fish is a little too thick hence not so crispy. However, if the fish is sliced thinner, it will be even more crispy and delicious!

Reasonably priced at $18++ with generous portion

Overall
I will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this!

Since both myself and partner were in Jalan Bersar area might as well try the dishes.Since it's a weekend we expected the queue to be snaking long and in for a long wait. But to our surprised the waiting time was much shorter. We were lead to our seat which was whatever available seat. We ordered our favourite the lor mee and fried bee hoon. Well I should say that the standard had slide quite a bit. The starchy feel lor mee was not there. Feels very watery instead. The fried bee hoon was just too salty. But overall the service standard remains.

Craving for Pu Tien version of Bee Hoon and Lor Mee, so skip down to the very packed Ming Chung for dinner. It was very very packed indeed. What is so great about these dishes, hmm well... not the dishes that was good per se, but the chili and the vinegar that accompanies the dishes was fantastic. I love it! Will be back to carbo load. Ayeee I cant lay off the carbo.. getting rounder and rounder every day.

While the lor mee and bee hoon was good, the yee mee was disappointing. So please do not order this! Save the calories and the carbo!

It is my first time trying the white Lor Mee. And this is the must try item in this place.A very old school environment which gave people a very homey feeling while dine in. Their Lor met are made of flavourful broth top with many different ingredient which is resh clams, fresh prawn, pork slice, special tao pok, veggie, and others and the not forgetting the main ingredient, lor mee. A very old school environment which gave people a very homey feeling while dine in. Their Lor met are made of flavourful broth top with many different ingredient which is resh clams, fresh prawn, pork slice, special tao pok, veggie, and others and the not forgetting the main ingredient, lor mee.

Other than that, fried lala is one of their signature dish where you can see every table will have it. I love how they cook the lala, where they still remain the freshness of the lala and never overcooked or covered them with other flavor.

Try to be there early to avoid disappointment. It can be very very crowded and we always have to share table with others just to have the food!

Whenever i think of fried prawns, i'll think of this restaurant. Actually on the shopfront, this restaurant looks just like a normal looking eating house (or kopitiam), but dont be deceived by its looks. They served traditional authentic lor mee here. While scooping the lor mee into the smaller bowl, i can already smell the rich fragrance of the starchy soup base. There is also some 'lala' inside the lor mee. Serving and promising authentic Hing Hwa food has always been the chart and benchmark of Ming Chung. Hing Hwa is actually a dialect group of settlers, similar to Cantonese and Hokkien clan that happen to reside mostly in Jalan Besar area thus creating the stronghold within the vicinity.

The usual build up of crowds during dinner time is the norm and all diners must persevere to last on the waiting list in order to land the mouth on Hing Hwa food. The must have dish is definitely the ever popular Lor Mee and the Fried Prawns and for someone who are more seafood savvy, you may wish to order their Stir Fired LaLa (Clams) and also the masterful Fried Lor Mee.

My advice to all, bash through the menu and you will always find something that you have always wish for!!!
