While I don't really have a "favourite food court", Food Republic at Somerset 313 comes close by housing my favourite Fried Prawn Noodles. The springy yellow and white noodles mix with the faint wokhei fragrance, the sweet succulent prawns, the dash of lime in the eggy thick stock... This is THE one plate of fried prawn noodles I can finish nomming from start till end without stopping at all. I can't describe it without craving for it instantly. $4.80 for a plate of heaven? I say yes, anytime! Warning: Waiting time could be as long as 40 minutes at the peak of the lunch crowd. Not suitable if you are trying to squeeze this in your one-hour lunch break. 繼續閱讀

If you've read my reviews before, you'd immediately realise that I'm a fan of the Food Republic at 313. It's spacious, airy, has a huge amount of seats and not to mention, a plethora of delicious food all at prices below $10. For dinner, I decided to try the fried prawn noodles at this food republic. I've tried the one at Wisma and made a mental note to try the one at 313 as well -it seems to be rather popular with the crowd.A starving girl is an impatient girl. I ordered this plate of fried prawn mee expecting to wait awhile because after all, the guy who fries the prawn mee usually only starts cooking when an order comes in -and then I'd have to wait for the entire process of the stock being cooked, the noodles being thrown in, the whole wok being covered and left to sit for the flavour to seep into the noodles....etc. etc. I am a very impatient person when I am starving! But this didn't happen today. Lady Luck was shining on me -I got the plate of noodles within seconds because other people had ordered before me and there were enough noodles in the wok to divide out for all of us. Brilliant! For $4.80, I'd say that this is pretty worth it It has quite a lot of noodles, all soaked in the beautiful prawn stock that I slurped up with extreme euphoria. Every bite of the noodles had a bit of their chilli in it. The chilli is spicy enough for me, but also a bit sweet and carries the flavour of 'hae bi hiam'. MY FAVOURITE!! It has a distinctively local taste to it and complements the slippery noodles. Delicious. 繼續閱讀

There was a long queue in front of this stall. Curious to find out what was so special about the Fried Prawn Noodle, I decided to join the queue and try it for myself. It was served with prawn, sotong and deep fried pork lard. Noodle was fried to a semi-wet consistency with a delightful 'burnt' aroma. Awesome by adding a generous amount of savory Sambal Chilli and dashes of lime to accompany the noodle. Maybe my picture doesn’t do much justice to the Prawn Noodle, but it indeed enough to satisfy the craving. Price wise, slightly expensive for me, $4.80nett per plate. 繼續閱讀

Monday night at Orchard. Finding a cool place and not crowded place for dinner. Decided to head to 313 Somerset Food Republic at 5th level. The place there is cool and big with high ceiling.Walk around to see what they have in the food court.Saw this stall selling Fried Prawn Noodle. Say called it Hokkien Mee. Notice they serve with a bamboo leave. Which make the presentation look nice.AS there was no Q at around 7pm. They have cook extra mee on the side just in case a large crowd come in. Hmm.... don't know that is a good idea. What if happen there is no crowd. Will the cook noodle be thrown away or still serve. ?? I ask for extra chilli on the side. the guy happyily gave it to me. I like it with al;ot of chilli. The mee came to look waterily which I don't really like. But the prawn they give is fresh and 3 pcs.Overall : Once awhile will try again. 繼續閱讀

This hokkien noodles sold here is with really nice presentation as it is placed on the white bamboo leaves which also added that extra fragrant to it. The noodles are really chewy and not overcooked. Especially like the generous amount of seafoods in it which includes the crunchy fresh prawns, chewy sotong rings. There are also thinly sliced fish cakes and lots of beansprout in it too. Like the sambal chilli used to cook in the noodles which is not too spicy and added that extra fragrant taste to this delightable local dish. Serving is quite generous and good to serve two adults. 繼續閱讀
