Besides having good pork chop, they do sell Haianese Chicken Rice, Claypot Mutton Soup which I believe had been drawing the hordes thus its full house on a saturday night. The restaurant interior was simple and decent with hanging ceiling fans at each sector above. Chinese Lanterns were seen hanging from the florescent lights too.

It's not quite frequent we come across this dish on the menu moreover it had won the award. Having prepared similar dish, I would say that it was quite good but not really what I would expected. The dish was served with few pototoes wedes and boiled green peas with a bowl of tomato gravy.

The piece of lean meat was fried to golden brown with crumbs coated evenly at its exterior. It was cut into smaller portions equally and was served.

We pour the bowl of diluted tomato ketchup all over the sauce and enjoyed this Haianese fare.

Braised Ee Mee tasted better than average. It's black braised sauce was aromatic and noodles was generously drenched, a little more would have the gravy overflowed.

Chin Chin Eating House may not raise an eyebrow with it's rustic facade but you will be surprise at the amount of crowd they draw into their humble-looking eatery. I was there for dinner on a Saturday evening and I could see the mixture of people, young and old, including huge families waiting out for a seat. After about 15 minutes of waiting, an auntie came and pointed to a table large enough to accommodate about 10 of us.

Our orders were quickly taken by an unfriendly moody uncle who kept on ratting all the signatures off the menu and wanting us to order more. We went for a few of the signatures he recommended and he doesn't seem very satisfied and went on rattling away. We had to told him that we will just have these few as my dinner group were majority ladies and they don't eat much.

After waiting for 15 minutes, the food for our table was served. Whetting our appetite is the Sambal Kang Kong ($10) which was nicely prepared. Check out the glistering surface, usually it is drenched with hot oil to give off that kind of shine and it will retain the crunchiness of the greens. Delicious but I wish they can be more generous on the sambal as the spicy umami was pretty mild.

The Whole Hainanese White Chicken ($20) is almost visible on every table of the restaurant and we couldn't resist not having it too since we are here. Every slice of chicken I had was moist and smooth, with a nice fragrant of light soy sauce that goes so well with our individual portion of chicken rice, black sweet sauce and chilli! Being not a big fan of chicken rice, I would say this is one of the better ones I ever had.

Another of their signature dish, the Hainanese Pork Chop ($18) is served with green peas, potato wedges and accompanied by a bowl of sweet tomato-based gravy. I love how the slices of pork chop are so evenly coated with golden-brown crispy bread crumbs. Delicious, homely and rustic. It is so good when drizzled with the lightly sweet gravy over it. Best of all, it wasn't oily at all.

What got all our fingers busy and working is none other than the Prawn Paste Fried Chicken ($15) which is finger licking good! Hot, crisp and coated with prawn paste, this is surely one treat both kids and adult would love. Although it's a little on a the oily side, I would say it's definitely worth the calories for the delicious-ness.

Overall, it was a sumptuous and filling dinner for the group of us and although the service wasn't that friendly, we couldn't ask for more with great value food that tasted good. If you're dropping by for dinner, do come early to avoid the crowd!

Personally, I think this might just qualify as one of the best Hainanese chicken I have ever tasted. Soft, tender white meat beneath a layer of smooth skin, finished with a mild touch of fragrant sesame and soy sauce. We ordered a half of each version (roasted and steamed) and were more than satisfied with it.

Contrary to the many positive reviews on their signature Sweet and Sour Pork Chop, I actually thought that it was mediocre and has nothing to rave about. To be honest, my dear mother a.k.a Mama Kook makes better version of this.

Whenever I had tze char or anything equivalent, I rarely order Chap Chye (mixed vegetables) as I thought that the veggies are left-overs and just simply thrown together to form another dish. The moment I had their rendition of chap chye, I felt that I have never been so wrong before. Soft, delectable veggies, completed with a whole lot of different textures and a thick flavourful gravy - I could only thought of one word to describe this - Delicious.

Another great dish to order is the Fish Slices pan-fried with garlic and spring onions. One can hardly go wrong with this choice.

In a nutshell, Chin Chin Eating House is definitely a place that I could see myself returning to, for its Hainanese chicken, as well as their oh-so-good chap chye and maybe their legendary pork chop (perhaps the chef wasn't in a good mood that day, who knows). If you want good and authentic, yet affordable Hainanese food, do drop by Chin Chin Eating House.

The place was pretty crowded and many came in as group or family for dinner and the whole place was packed and rowdy. Was not very hungry and we just settled for Fried Beef Kway Teow and Fried Mee Suah with Chicken, Both tasted not bad just slightly salty but the mee suah texture was more like over soaked vermicelli instead. They were ranged from $4 to $5 a plate with no service charge.

The current location is 2 shops house, with twice the sitting capacity. Over the years the owner had upgraded to include air con. it sells the usual Hainanese dishes as well as chicken rice. The chicken rice taste is ok but not the best. Most of the dishes in the menu is tasty and prices is cheaper than most zhi char places.

Sliced Pork with Ginger is one of my favourite pork dish. I like that the tender slice pork is well coated with dark soya sauce and fried with thin shreds of ginger. I prefer this than their Hainanese Pork Chop which is tomatoe based with potatoe.

Sis saw on the menu that they sell Dry Fried Mee Sua and we decided to order this as a replacement of white rice. This is the 1st time we are trying this dish at this shop. The fried Mee Sau was yummy and not soggy as this type of noodle is not easy to fried. Is has pieces of slice chickens, egg & bean sprouts. The frying style is like HK noodle.

Another family favourite is the Prawn roll which we did not order this time, because on the previous visit the standard dropped and it was too starchy.

Overall the food is decent with some really tasty dishes and some miss. You also get to eat Hainanese favourite at coffeeshop prices. If you are a local coffee drinker, you must try their coffee. They also serve not too sour lime juice. Service is fast and you do not have to wait long for the dishes to be served.

Had dinner at Chin Chin. The place was packed and we had to make do with a table along the back alley of the eating house, which was still quite breezy due to the afternoon showers and offered an unusual perspective of old world charm alongside new world vibrancy. Unfortunately, it threatened to pour again and we hastily retreated into the eatery when a suitable table was available.

The Hainanese Chicken was not bad, a little chilled and with no traces of blood, which I feel tastes slightly better than the one I had at Thien Kee. The accompanying chicken rice was not too oily, which I like. The Hotplate Tofu looked a little dull and tasted nothing out of the ordinary. On the other hand, tthe Fish Hor Fun was pretty good and was quite a size for the price. The gravy wasn't too starchy and the Hor Fun had the wok hei taste to it. The cereal that came with the Cereal Prawns was good, crispy and crunchy, a little spicy and sweet, not too oily and with a strong cereal taste. The Sweet and Sour Pork, I feel, had too much flour in it and I couldn't really taste the meat. But the rest found it quite nice. Salted Vegetable with Tofu soup is supposed to be salty and at the same time, a little sourish. However, the one we had was just too bland with no bite. The ingredients in it were quite generous though. I don't really fancy sweet potato leaves, hence I gave the dish a miss.

Damage for the whole meal for 8 pax stood at $100 inclusive of drinks and everything else, which I feel is a steal. Where else can you find such decent food at such a low price in the heart of town
