The Tanaka Vegetarian Food stall has quite a number of vegetarian dishes being offered on their menu, such as Kway Chap ($2.50/$3.00), Nasi Lemak ($2.80), Mee Rebus ($2.50), Chicken Rice ($2.80), Laksa ($2.50) and Lor Mee ($2.50). Like an economy rice stall, there is also quite an array of add-on dishes being offered if you want something extra to go with your food, like vegetables, mock char siew, mock fishballs, and so on.We decided to come here for a late breakfast on a weekend morning and it was brisk business at this self-service stall. I was rather glad to see that the Kway Chap was available. But there was a rather long queue and we had to wait for quite a while until it was our turn. Vegetarian Kway Chap for 2 ($4.00) + Mock Ham Add-on ($0.50)The kway chap is priced at $2.50 or $3.00 for a single serving, but we got it for 2 person, which cost us $4.00. The kway chap noodle is quite smooth and I like that the soup is flavourful but not oily. The kway chap comes with firm beancurd, fried beancurd, and a braised egg. We only realized that the mock "intestine" was missing from our plate when we brought the food to the table. Serving size feels a little small for two person, but the portion of noodle given is quite plentiful. We also added the mock ham at the rather affordable price at $0.50 for a whole slice, which is quite chewy and tasty to boot!Overall, the food is quite decent in taste, and the prices for both main dishes and add-on are quite reasonable. I wouldn't mind returning again for another round, but maybe when they are slightly less busy.
