Near to dinner time and visited this big poster at NEX mall at 2nd floor. PU Tien was some time and have not visited till now. Michelin awards was recently awarded. So we ordered sweet and sour pork , Kailan and Putien cabbage rice. The servicing of good except awaiting for food was slight longer. The taste of sweet and sour pork was nice as cooked with lychees. With their special Chilli sauce is so great. Kailan since normal for me as it is still served with normal XO sauce. However bean curb toppling was a plus point. The Putien cabbage rice was not bad too as receipe included some vegetables and mushrooms. Environment is bright and clean. Overall is good experience. 繼續閱讀

The restaurant was located at the second level of the shopping mall, and offered Putian cuisine, which originated from a coastal suburb in Fujian, China, also known as Xing Hwa 兴化 cuisine. The family decided to celebrate grandma's birthday here, and she was given a soft toy by the staff. Looking through the various menus, we decided on the OCBC Exclusive Set for 8 people which cost $248++. Do take note that plain water is chargeable at $0.50++ per glass. The wet tissue and the preserved vegetable on the table are chargeable too.Starters Platter : Seaweed with Mini Shrimps, Braised Bamboo Shoot, Pork Belly with Garlic, Braised Homemade Bean CurdSeaweed with Mini Shrimps (ala carte $7.50++)To retain the best texture and nutrition of the seaweed, we use only 15cm-long top-grade seaweed that is harvested within 30 days after cultivation. Tossed with quality mini shrimps imported from the South China Sea region, every mouthful of this starter is a delightful and refreshing experience. The seaweed was very thin, with texture similar to black moss.Braised Bamboo Shoot (ala carte $7.50++)Bamboo shoots smoked in slow fire, then braised for a savoury finish. The bamboo shoots was well braised and juicy.Pork Belly with Garlic (ala carte $8.90++)Tender pork belly slices topped with rich garlic sauce over a bed of cucumbers. The pork belly was cold and refreshing.Braised Homemade Bean Curd (ala carte $5.90++)PUTIEN's specialty bean curd braised for savoury bursts of flavour every bite.Somehow this dish reminded me of mock abalone, but it taste quite savoury.Braised Bean Curd with Chinese Cabbage (ala carte $25.90++ (M))Homemade bean curd and chinese cabbage, flavoured with Putian seasonal clams, dried shrimps and dried scallops in a light, tasty broth. It was a simple soup but the soup was full of flavours especially from the seafood. The bean curd soaked up the soup easily.Steamed Live Seabass (ala carte $4.90++/100g (Seabass)Fresh fish steamed with garlic, black bean in soy sauce and chilli oil, then topped with a generous serving of chopped chillies for a savoury-spicy complement to the fish's natural sweetness. The fish was fresh and juicy.Steamed Prawns with Minced Garlic (ala carte $32.00++ (M))Succulent prawns lightly steamed and topped with savoury minced garlic. It was helpful that the prawns had been sliced into two, so that it would be easier to remove the meat from the shells.PUTIEN Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees (ala carte $18.90++ (M))Deep fried to light golden brown, the meat is tender and moist on the inside. The lychee is a perfect complement with its added burst of sweetness to the sauce.Looked not bad, but the crust encasing the meat was lacking of crispiness.Stir-fried Green Dragon Vegetable with Garlic (ala carte $14.90++ (M))A healthy dose of emerald green vegetables infused with fragrance of garlic slices.I like that the dish was fried with lots of garlic slices, but the vegetable was lacking of crunchiness.Choice of 1 Main Course : Mazu Mee Sua (ala carte $26.80++ (L))Mee Sua, or literally, "Long Noodles", symbolizes longevity. PUTIEN Mee Sua is handmade using traditional methods and a recipe unique to Putian. Using premium quality flour, the pristine, white, thread-thin vermicelli doesn't turn soggy when cooked. The noodle was smooth and well braised with a strong alcoholic taste in the flavourful broth.Dessert of the Day : White Fungus with Gingko Nut and Red DateThe dessert was served hot and light in taste.Complimentary Fruit PlatterThe fruit served were fresh and juicy.Overall the food delicious and filling. The service was not bad with the staff helping to serve the noodle and soup in small bowls. 繼續閱讀

A contemporary yet classic eatery which was specializing in Heng Hwa cuisines, Putien Restaurant offered a simple indulgence and heart-warming comfort food for their patrons. Located strategically at Nex Shopping mall, the place was easily accessible through Serangoon MRT. Atmosphere was cozy-friendly, it was definitely an ideal place for affordable Chinese dinner.Apparently looked alike simple dried thin noodles, it was the must-ordered dish ever. Ingredients were generously given, peanuts on top gave extra crunchiness throughout the end. Texture of Mee Sua was soft and taste like Meehoon, we enjoyed the moist and stirred mixture. Price at $15.90 for medium portion, it can be served up to four persons.Rich and starchy gravy, tofu was silky slippery. Freshly made daily, the plate was protein-rich and healthier meal. The dish looked plainly with beans and assorted veggies, in fact it was flavourful. Reasonably price at $9.90, the portion was not too big but sufficient.Deep fried until maximum crispiness, the flesh inside surprisingly remained moist and firm. Served along with homemade dipping sauce, it was sweet tangy. Exactly like home-cooked fried Mackerel, it was delicious but it wasn’t memorable. Price was $4.90 per piece, judge-able value for money.Quite an attractive dish, the light and crusty layer was awesome. Smooth Yam paste that enclosed duck meat in between, softness and springiness was just right. Mouth-watering in big cubes did a good job to satisfy my taste buds, matched with the savoury darkening sauce too. Price at $15.90, it can be cut into eight pieces. I would say it was a refreshing concept for family gathering or business meeting, always a good choice to dine here. 繼續閱讀

I remembered I was first introduced to Pu Tien several years back by my ‘PK mum’ (an endearing term for a friend who calls me PK aka Pumpkin) as she was raving about its Lor Mee. In my mind, Lor Mee has always been a bowl of thick flat yellow noodles in a thick, dark and starchy sauce with ingredients like fish cake, pork belly and hard boiled eggs. But it is not so at Pu Tien, to my surprise (and delight) since I’m not a big fan of the local Lor Mee.Pu Tien Restaurant is named after Putian which is a coastal town located in the Fujian Province of China and it serves local cuisine of the Xinghua people (兴化人).I have dined at Pu Tien a couple of times at different outlets and food quality has been consistent so far. And since I’m also trying to expose my husband to different food culture and cuisines here, Pu Tien is definitely a place not to be missed.Egg plants have never tasted this good! Big chunks of egg plants deep-fried to perfection and topped with fragrant pork floss all over. Really addictive. I just love the crispy exterior and the inside is so tender. And this is what we are here for. Silky rice noodles with pork belly, prawns, clams, dried tofu puffs and veggies braised in a rich, aromatic pork broth. Not overly starchy and just so tasty!Another must-try signature dish. Pig trotters are deep fried to crisp and seasoned with salt and pepper. I know of some people who find pig trotters revolting because they are considered high in fat and cholesterol but in actual fact, pig trotters are very rich in collagen which is good for the skin as well as gelatin that promotes growth of healthy hair and nails. Whether these nutritional bonuses are really true or not, enjoying this dish in moderation once in a while should be fine. Even though these trotters are deep fried, they aren’t greasy at all!To continue reading, please visit http://springtomorrow.com/2013/08/12/pu-tien-restaurant/ 繼續閱讀

Putien is an established chain that has many outlets across Singapore, and it has a wide variety of dishes and many appetizers as well. I think they are having some bamboo clams promotion, and we tried the steamed bamboo clam with minced garlic, which costs around $20; quite expensive, but it's pretty good, clams were fresh and tangy and I liked the garlic sauce. We also got the pu tien lor mee, which costs $7.90 for a small bowl and $15.90 for medium bowl. It's soupy, but I prefer the fried heng hwa bee hoon or pu tien mee sua, which are not as soggy. 繼續閱讀
