Too many alternatives for dessert along Liang Seah Street, we end up decided Ji De Chi. There was no queue yet quite packed inside the shop. Offering a wide range of desserts such as hot dessert, ice shave, cakes, I ordered the green tea ice shave. The serving was quite generous, so I would recommend small eater to share it with somebody to prevent food wastage. The ice shave has some topping, which include nata de coco, red bean and green tea mochi. We came to Ji De Chi today and ordered the Yam Paste with ginkgo nut and Sweet PotatoThis place was very crowded, full house that night... so we had to resort to roadside dining. The yam paste was thick, sticky and palatable not something from a instant packet. Boiled ginkgo nut is sweet and well cooked not mushy. Sweet potato is soft. really satisfy me after a savory dinner!

We decided to try the Glutinous Rice Balls when we were at Ji De Chi Dessert The place was crowded, almost full house, so we had to resort to "road side dining". The staff are speedy in taking orders despite overwhelming crowd. This dish was so appealing when it was presented. Wooden toothpicks were provided to stab into the balls and dip into the peanuts and pop them in your mouth makes the whole dessert experience fun to eat with. Crunchy nuts and soft sticky insides make it more delectable.

I was in the bugis area for lunch, and there being 3 different dessert stores, I had to drop by one of them for desserts. I chose Ji De Chi, and ordered their yuan yang - which is black sesame paste with almond paste. This black and white combination is good, as the black sesame is a little too sweet and overwhelming, so it's good to occasionally have a few mouthfuls of the almond paste, which is not too sweet.

Mango Pomelo Sago is a very common chinese dessert and it is hard to go wrong with it. Having tried ah chew's, I dropped by ji de chi to try theirs. The mango pomelo sago comes with a little shaved ice, and the mango puree was rich and thick. There were also large chunks of mango bits within. However, the amount of pomelo was too little - pomelo is slightly sour and adds on to the overall taste. Still feel that ah chew's is slightly better.

Ah Chew used to dominate until Ji De Chi arrived. Offering a different variety of desserts, Ji De Chi seeks to attract the Ah Chew crowd. Their most popular is the Durian Sago, which was extremely rich, it's basically durian puree with sago; best to share with a group of 4, as it can get quite 'jelat' after a few mouthfuls. The shop has outdoor and indoor sitting but the tables are so cramped together that you will most likely find yourself rubbing backs with someone else. The menu at ji de chi is wide variety ranging from drinks , desserts , dim sum etc in the end we ordered durian with pomelo sago , mango / strawberry ice . The serving is very generous full of filling . The durian paste is tasty and melt in your mouth when ate with sago . the mango / strawberry ice come with big pcs of it and it taste fresh.

My friend ordered the sawdust pudding. The top of the pudding has sawdust toppings. It is surprisingly moist although it looks dry. The pudding is very firm, yet soft. The little choco syrup on the top make it sweeter.Too sweet for me.It is very delicious, I personally do not think its worth the price of $5 because it is really too small.But it is really a nice try as it is really special.
