Kim Choo well known for their best version of Nyonya Bak Chang and kueh kueh first establishment was setup at Joo and now expanded to East Coast Road and their latest branch at T3 Changi Airport Departure Transit.

Having blood ties with the Peranakan heritage, I felt homely at each visit to Kim Choo at East Coast Road.

During this trip, I bought 20 mini Nyonya Chang (minced pork, winter melon strips wrapped with glutinous rice) at S$1.20 each. What I like about these bak chang are the ingredients and just small bites compared to original bak chang with too much glutinous rice wrapping. One bite and it reminded me of my late “Mama” (grandma) Nyonya bak chang.

Also bought five mini Kee Chang (yellow in colour) made with rice lye water together with glutinous rice. My hubby’s favourite. Each costing S$1.30.

I normally prepare some Gula Melaka syrup to top with this Kee Chang for better flavour.

To differentiate the dumpling ingredients, they use colourful raffia strings as identification tags.

They also provide demo sessions on “How To Make Bak Chang” for both local and foreign visitors and coincidentally there was a setup area today for a tour group due to arrive for lunch.

Aside from their famous dumplings, Kim Choo also have a variety of good tasting kueh kueh.Rempah Udang is a traditional Nyonya dessert made of glutinous rice with shrimps filling wrapped in banana leaves.The blue colouring in the rice is taken from bunga telang juice. A relative bought some CNY nonya kuehs and love letters from Kim Choo as CNY visiting gifts. I was initially excited about trying them because Kim Choo was a pretty renowned nonya cuisine establishment. But I was disappointed after opening the container. Look at those out-of-shape kuehs stacked below normal looking kueh. They actually hid the poorly baked kuehs underneath good kuehs.

There’s limited parking space. Hard to get to unless you drive or live in the area. I was meeting up an old friend who I haven’t met for years, and she recommended peranakan food which was very new to me still (need to watch more Little Nyonya). The ambiance was okay, well-ventilated considering it was a hot day. No comments for the staff service, they made no eye contact but still, they were speedy and prompt and that's more important. Portion wise like I said I don’t know/didn’t take note the

But I loved the mushrooms though - I recommend this!

My mum bought it,their dumpling was quite small, mum told me this nonya dumpling is nice. When i open it,there's layers of oils coming out from the dumpling, their dumpling is too oily!But it tasted very nice, the rice is QQ, not very sticky, inside meat was sweet & tender.It would be better if is less oily,we kept in fridge for few days & it still taste very nice.Mum said always long queue when she went to buy.

the rice dumplings here are very very good. but they are also rather oily. i think so far this is one of the best rice dumpling places that i've tried. the nonya rice dumpling is fantastic, and their xo dunpling is a must try. the only place you can get xo dumplings when it is not dumpling season. the seafood and other ingredients used in the xo dumpling is fantastic. the nonya dumpling is also very nicely balanced in taste. if it wasn't so oily, it would have been the best!

Had an awesome meal at Kim Choo Kueh Chang! we ordered the Bawan Kepinting Soup which was incredibly delicious. Their fermented bean paste soup was so flavourful and rich! There is also meatballs made of crabmeat and minced pork. These meatballs are really sweet and chewy! Yums! The abalone mushroom is good too! very fragrant and I couldn’t stop myself from eating it one after another non stop.

This is glutinous rice dumpling my sister bought from kim choo Kueh zhang. Our family members like to eat dumpling, so other days than dragon boat festival. We will also eat the glutinous rice dumpling occasionally. I still prefer my mother’s handmade dumpling. As this dumpling does not have many ingredients inside.

It is a dumpling festival, my wife and i drove down to Kim Choo at Katong to buy Ba Chang and Nonya Chang for our family, 10 for my parents and 10 for my parent in laws. After buying the ba chang, we were hungry and it was 1pm. We decided to try out the Peranakan Food which Kim Choo is selling. We ordered our food and we did not wait very long for the food to be served out. Overall the food taste great but pricing wise ii feel it is abit expensive. Their Service is also not fantastic. My friend brought me here for dinner because I wanna eat the rice dumplings.Ended up ordering the nonya food instead.Do not ask me what's the name of the dishes cos I can't remember but I do love the nonya mixed vegetables. My friend ordered a dish where they have a fruit thingy in it and you have to scrap the insides which also tasted good.

I bought the mini dumpling at Kim Choo. First time trying out the dumping, so i bought every flavour and try. Really taste good, and i noticed there was a few outlets in Singapore. Different colour of string tie up to each dumpling represent each flavour. Every year only bought once on festive season. Will wait for next year to come and buy again

With the busy lifestyle that Singaporean have, it is rare to see people will wrap dumplings at home. I remember I used to help up my mum when I was little girl to prepare for the 'dumpling' festival. But now I am just ilke anyone who will make the purchase at nearby shop. This is one of the shop that sell dumplings all year through and they have been in this area for years. Their dumpling standard are rather consistent, the rice is fragrance and soft. The fats and the meat proportion are just ni
