Served cold and raw, this dish makes a great appetizer if you love cockles. The cockles (sea hum) were fresh and there were no bits of sand in it. The dish was topped with lots of green onions, garlics and chilli padi but it was not spicy for me. I am not sure why it is called "Drunken Cockles" because I can't taste any alcohol in it. Because I dislike the raw taste of cockles, I would not be ordering this again.

Butter Ribs $8
The highlight of our visit! This dish is kids-friendly because the pork ribs are boneless! The meat was firm yet tender. The generous amount of milk powder was a unique and great complement to the pork ribs. I would appreciate if they could sift the milk powder first as there were occasional chunks of milk powder scattered around (not very pleasant to bite into). Claypot Fish Head $20 Unfortunately, this was a miss. The gravy was slightly salty and some parts of the fish had a fishy smell.

Vegetable w/ egg, salted egg & century egg $8
I have eaten better ones at other tze char stalls. The vegetables were a tad difficult to swallow even after several bites. The gravy-like soup was more towards the bland side but it was good. You can drink it on its own without complementing it with rice.

Overall, this place fell short of our expectations probably because we were expecting much more after hearing several positive reviews. It is worth a try but if it is very inconvenient or out of the way for you to visit there, you may want to give it a miss.

A good place for Tze Char with it's spacious seating area. It can be quite crowded during weekends night so it is best for you be drop by early if you want to avoid the evening dinner crowd. There's 2 dishes which I wanted to try from the reviews I've read - the cold cockles and butter pork ribs. First up is the cockles. The buttery taste of it cover the smell of the pork and in return, I tasted something sweet and the soft meat of the ribs. With just these 2 dish, one can easily down with 2 bowl of rice with no sweat.

This place reminds me of Two Blur Guys, with the way its name has been derived from. A rather known place for tzechar, I was quite surprised that this name kept popping up whenever I speak of tzechar cravings. For the not-so-Singaporeans, Tzechar is typically in a coffee shop setting, with most dishes involving frying - hence the name of 煮炒 in Chinese. As most coffee shops would have a tzechar stall, it was pretty rare to hear of any special outstanding one, except perhaps the popular XO Beehoon

As most coffee shops would have a tzechar stall, it was pretty rare to hear of any special outstanding one, except perhaps the popular XO Beehoon or the Hong Kong Street ones.

Hidden in quite an inaccessible area away from the train station, it was quite surprising to see the place packed with people even at about 8pm.

Drizzled with lots of garlic, and dipped in a sauce with a tinge of chilli padi, this was quite a refreshing appetiser to start off our meal. It was an interesting flavour, with a pretty sharp taste given the amount of garlic and ending with a spicy aftertaste. Also, I hadn't expected it to be a cold dish coming from a tzechar stall. The cockles were very fresh, rid of the 'fishy' taste and were clean from the usual sandy texture, making it alot easier for us to eat. I found it a little too sharp for my liking, perhaps an acquired taste. It was one of the recommended dishes by their staff, so probably great for cockle lovers!

This was made up of century egg, salted egg and the regular egg, cooked with spinach. I've never been a vegetable person, so this didn't exactly appeal to me. The salted egg stood out the most, and made the dish taste a tad like molten mooncake to me. It wasn't an impressive dish, failing to bring out the flavours of the spinach and century egg.

The highlight of any meals there, this is the signature dish that brought Two Chefs to fame. Plain looking, with the lack of colours, it didn't exactly look very appetising, much less the signature dish. I was pretty skeptical at the sight of this, but the first bite absolutely changed my opinion.

Extremely tender pork that has a slight crisp on the outside, coated with a strong buttery flavour - this just won me over. The butter powder was just too addictive, and it reminded me of the cereal condiments alongside cereal prawns, also a typical dish of tzechar. It was slightly sweet and creamy when the butter powder melts in your mouth, yet it doesn't leave the jelat feel. A perfect complement to the otherwise ordinary pork ribs. A dish that will bring me back to Two Chefs for sure!

This is almost a staple for me for every tzechar meal, made of minced meat, prawns, some with water chestnut to give that extra crunch, and deep fried in beancurd skin. I found the fillings of this a little too loose, but the crispy skin quite made up for it, with fresh prawns used in the making as well. It managed to stay crispy up till the last piece, making me a pretty satisfied customer.

I felt that this was a pretty overrated place, with only the butter pork ribs that managed to really impress me. That said, perhaps it was the selection of our dishes as well, and I would probably go back for more, aside from the addictive butter pork ribs!

The boneless deep fried pieces of succulent juicy pork and showered in a mound of milk powder, giving them an extremely unique taste. The ribs are sweet and savoury at the same time, and are absolutely . There is nothing to fault with this perfect pork rib dish! Everyone should try it at least once!

First up, the legendary Drunken Cockles! Estelle was raving so much about it that I die-die-must-try. I was never a cockles fan as I dislike its raw, bloody taste. I make an exception for this dish. It was soooooo good that I ate at least 5 or 6 of them :x

The half-shelled cockles are served cold, in soy sauce with lots of garlic bits, spring onion and chilli padi. I like the flavorful taste and most importantly, they did not taste too raw. By the way, some might find it a lil' spicy due to the chilli padi."

Butter ribs coated with condensed milk powder?! This was my 1st time trying such an interesting combination! The boneless chunks of meat were tender, and tasted pretty good. Hmm.. the condensed milk powder was kinda too sweet for my liking though."

This was my favoritest dish of the night! This was exceptionally good, definitely on par with restaurant standard! The gravy was rather watery, which doubles up as a soup somehow. I had many-many mouthfuls of this! Yummilicious!

It was a simple and ordinary-looking dish, which was tasty albeit oily. The omelette was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Anything to do with eggs, I like!"

"Fried Buttered Prawns (with Pork Floss) 牛油肉松虾球
- $20 for medium portion

This dish certainly lived up to my expectation! The prawn balls were fried to perfection, which tasted absolutely divine. So fresh and succulent! I like that they added pork floss as it actually complements the taste of the prawns. My only grouse was the sweet mayonnaise... instead of being drizzled over the prawns, it would be better if they served it in a separate plate or something. Regardless, it is a must-try dish!"

The soft and smooth chunks of beancurd doused in slightly thick gravy, goes really well with rice. The addition of minced meat and golden mushroom, make it even more appetizing!"

This is my all time favourite dish over at Two Chefs.

You might ask why with a plate of spinach and 3 types of eggs will cost you $8.00,
but it's totally worth it.

The spinach, the 3 eggs and the sauce are the best combination.
The spinach is so soft and sometimes I ended up gulping it down without bitting.

We always pour the sauce, together with the egg and spinach, on our rice as some sort of flavouring,
and I can say it makes my rice even more appetizing.
The dish always ended up swipe clean by us even with all the sauce.

With the salted egg and century egg you might worry whether it's salty but I can assure you that it's not."

"Butter Ribs 牛油排骨

The Butter Ribs are the one that attracted most customers to Two Chefs.
The pork ribs are coated with their special butter milk powder.
Preparing the special butter milk powder actually takes up a lot of time.

It's sweet and do not have a strong milky taste and amazingly goes well with the ribs.
The ribs are also tender and soft to bite;
with the butter melting in the mouth, who can resist eating them?"

The sauce for this dish goes well with your rice too.
I have always liked "tofu" or beancurd and golden mushroom, so I might be slightly bias towards this dish.

I really like how they make their sauce,

Fried Prawns and Mayonnaise easily attract the younger crowds.

The prawns are fried nicely and are coated with meat floss and mayonnaise.
The mayonnaise are slightly sweet but yet with the meat floss you will find it delicious.
By coating the mayonnaise over the fried prawns always allow all of them have ample supply of mayonnaise instead of letting you dip it over a plate."

I always enjoy ordering Omelette at Zi Char places, it gives me the homely feeling.
It's simple yet nice.

Their omelette are fried to a slight brown sides and will have a little cripsy feeling to the outside yet still soft inside.

"I have always loved eating zi char, and even though the surrounding might be noisy,
zi char gave me a very homely feel.
It brings people closer with each other while having zi char.

Prices are reasonable and affordable as their servings size are definitely worth the money.
Most of the dishes comes in 3 sizes, small, medium and large.

There are a few specialities that they are really famous for which attracts their customers base.
I always ended up there ordering that same few specialities all the time.

We did for the same, at the Makan Session, wanting to try their famous specialities."

"When I always eat zhi char or dine at any chinese restaurant.. this is a must to order... actually.. this is the only vegetable i'm willing to eat without complaining at all. It is cooked with 3 types of eggs. Normal egg, salted egg and century egg (my favourite). The dish is simply delicious, and you wouldn't want to miss out."

"This is my seocnd favourite dish. The prawn balls were juicy and delectable, topped with crunchy pork floss and mayonnaise, it is crispy on the outside. Very mouthwatering and simply delicious mmhmm! The price of this dish is $20, it's reasonable because prawn dishes are usually expensive. I am highly impressed with this dish and it totally fulfilled my satisfactory."

"Conclusion: Overall, I rate Two Chefs Eating Place, 8/10. The food they served us (6 of us) were enough and the total cost of this meal was $64. It is roughly the same price if you eat at a regular zi char place. I am very happy with the food here and I'm definitely coming back with my family and friends!"

The staff that answered my call was friendly and assured me that I will be able to get a table when I reach.The menu was simple, they did not have a large variety of food. The butter milk pork was a little too sweet for me, but I enjoyed the interesting combination of milk and pork.
(And after the pork was served, I was too busy eating to take any photos..)
The 3 egg spinach was cooked just nice. The gravy was not salty, so it doubled up as soup.

I have to commend their service again, because we initially ordered just Hor Fun, thinking that it will have egg in the sauce. But when it came, we realised we had ordered wrongly and asked for a change to Hua Dan Hor Fun. I was surprised when the staff just took the plate of Hor Fun and changed it for us without making any noise. The service is really good!

Many zi-char places sell almost the same dishes. Nothing you wouldn't not expect. What makes them stand out will definitely be unique dishes. I have always prefer hot over cold food (except sashimi and soba), however I was amazed how good these can taste! This 3-eggs dish is a popular hit with most people.

Love a combination of soup-gravy, eggs & vegetables? This goes well with or without rice as it wasn’t too salty as compared to some I tried elsewhere.

Milk powder?? I swear I’ve never tried anything like this before. Pretty interesting, but I had phobia of milk powder.

Beancurd (Tofu) with golden mushroom and some minced meat in the rich brown gravy. This is the kind of dish I like to have with my rice. Not too salty, yet flavorful.

This is not a plate of plain fried cockles; the cockles are stir-fried with vinegar (I suppose), making it taste very appetizing. It doesn't feel raw at all, the cockles were prepared well. I've always been a fan of cockles and I must say I've tried quite a few different types of preparing cockles, but this is the best type of cockles I've tried!!! Cold and tasty.

A plate of vegetables submerged in the soup of 3 types of eggs, you might find it too common. But I wouldn't really agree so. Many of us thought this dish was very addictive. The normal egg makes the majority of the sauce, while the century egg adds texture to the soup. The vegetables in general was soft and smooth, which I guess it's why it's well-liked by all of us.

With such a big quantity at only $12 (medium sized), I don't think this dish is pricey. In fact, having your pork ribs coated in milk powder really gives an amazing mouthfeel. Some of the powder melts in your mouth as you chew on the meat. The ribs are boneless as well!
This is one of their signature dish and it's definitely a must-have!

Prawn balls are generally expensive at any zichar stall. At first I was still hesitant about Estelle ordering prawn balls because usually we don't get satisfied ordering prawn balls as they are very little and expensive. But here, Twochefs really prove me wrong. Their prawns are really huge and it was even complimented with pork floss and mayonnaise, all at the price of $20 only! I once had prawn balls elsewhere at a random hawker centre at $30, and boy, the quantity was much lesser and less tasty than this.
In my opinion, this is another must-have too!

Fried beancurd was submerged in the sweet and sour gravy, coupled with plenty golden mushroom. This was a generally easy-to-swallow dish because of the smooth and gluey gravy, appetizing as well due to its sour element in it.

Overall, the food was in generally great in portion and reasonable priced. The total cost was about $64 only (for 6 of us)!!! That's like roughly $10 per person, for so many varieties! Sometimes, for such standards, we usually pay roughly $15-$17. So I must say this is a great place for zi char. Cheap and super good food.

I think it's a very good place for dinner with family. The place is 15 minutes walk away from commonwealth mrt station, so it's a little far and inaccessible. It will be better if you have a car though. Then again, for the good food, who minds travelling? ;)

This place has a lot of signature dishes, but the simple and yet refreshing dish I remember is the plate of cold cockles soaked with garlic and chilli sauce. Even though I am not a cockles lover, but this dish has changed my tastebuds! I will always order this as one of the starters. But the rule of thumb to visit this place would be around 5pm on weekends as the queue can go really fast, but you always get a good service to have a table allocated the moment it's available depending on your head

Three words to describe my overall experience. Cheap Good Crowded. This is quite a popular Tze Char restaurant, it is well known for its cheap and delicious dishes. Some pretty unique like the milk power pork chop. Pretty innovative and delicious dish. Pair with curry leaves, it is almost perfect. I love the cockles too! We ordered the following dishes which includes cold cockles, their signature dish buttery pork ribs, herbal chicken and the salad prawn. The presentation of the cold cockles look very appealing, topped with generous amount of the minced garlic, spring onion and some sliced chili. The cockles itself is very fresh, has a soft and tender texture. The gravy is also very special with a mixture of slight salty and vinegar taste and goes very well with the cockles. Next the buttery pork ribs is coated with a powdery butter milk. This dish is very unique as it is totally different from other cze char stall and the taste is awesome. The coating will melt in your mouth the moment you eat it, nice milky aroma and slight buttery taste. The good thing is that the pork ribs is totally free of bones, soft and very tender texture and is a must try dishes for everyone. The herbal chicken is only made available during weekend. The herbal taste is not too strong, just nice and is well seasoned. The chicken is very well cooked as the meat comes off easily from the bone, very soft and very tender texture. Lastly, the salad prawn is coated with a mild citrus taste type of mayonnaise and is topped with some pork floss. The coating is sufficiently thick, each and every prawn is well coated. The prawn is well cooked and have a tender texture. Price is reasonable and the food taste great.

If you happen to come to this restaurant for your meal, do try their crispy cereal prawns as it is definitely one of the best in town and also one of the 'must try' dish here. The prawns are really fresh and crunchy. The excellent skill by the chef here is they have really make every single pieces of the cereal so crispy and fragrant that you would not want to left over any bits of cereal on the plate. There are also some milk powder flavour added to it which make this dish abit more nutritio
