Being a passion Tze Char lover & after see the contest on OpenRice on this restaurant, I decided to try with my family on Sunday evening. There are quite a couple of Zi Char restaurants there and finally managed to find it after some searching. As we came early at 5.30pm, the restaurant was quite empty. The FoodCereal PrawnsWhen they served the Cereal Prawns first, I was surprised that there was egg yolk cooked with the prawns because this is the 1st time I ever eat combined with egg yolks. It was a perfect combination as the saltiness of the egg yolk complemented the prawn which made it less dry and more juicy. The prawns were also fresh and the shell could be easily peeled off which made it easier to eat without using my hands !! Sweet & Sour PorkA traditional Jiangsu dish which can be found at every Tze Char restaurant. What I like about this sweet & sour pork is that it is very crispy, tender and when matched with sweetness from sugar and a salty sour taste from the ketchup and rice vinegar, give a sudden "adrenaline" boost to my brain !! Seafood White Bee HoonThe soft bee hoon is coated with thick and rich mouthwatering gravy and served with generous toppings of fried egg and seafood. The prawns and sotongs were very fresh and is not over-cooked. The Chef have controlled the heat well when cooked the seafood.The ServiceThe service is good as we were ushered to an empty table promptly as soon as we step into the restaurant and the waitress take our orders with a cheerful and friendly smile The AmbienceThe place is fully air-conditioned with nice decors and surroundings. Good for Family get-together dinner !!The PriceThe prices are quite low and affordable which range from $10 to $20 for meat dishes, $15 to $30 for cereal prawn and only $8 for the large size bee hoon !!OverallI will definitely come back again and certainly didn't mind travelling all the way from Ang Mo Kio to Sembawang to try all the different dishes.It was a satisfied & most memorable "Tze Char" experience for me. Visited this place 1 night after work with all my friends. We each ordered a dish that we like and after the meal all of us are really happy and full. Their food is very tasty,very yummy, not very salty and not oily unlike most Zi Cha stores out there now a days. We ordered hot plate sambal fish which i think that the fish is really juicy and sweet. most imporant is the fish is not fishy because the fish is very fresh. I ordered their salted egg prawns which was good. they are very generous with their salted egg and the way they cook this dish is not very salty and oily. we also ordered Stir fried french long bean. the mixture or salted fish and small baby prawns makes this dish wonderful. the vegetables is really fresh and crunchy. eat it together with white rice is a happy ending to it. In the ulu area of Sembawang, me and my family had a nice early dinner at Shi Fu Ge. At first glance, this unassuming place didn't seem like much other than your typical Zi Char place but the food is pretty delicious. This assam fish head curry was a nice balance of spiciness with a hint of sour. The fish was fresh and cooked just right. Very appetizing! The Golden Chicken Cubes - salted eggs cooked with chicken cubes, is a favorite dish for everyone. Small salty bites of absolute goodness! The presentation was very pretty too! The Four Heavenly King is also a fav of mine! I love the mixture of texture between the "petai" brinjal, lady fingers and long beans. Stir fried with some sambal and you have a winning combination!Creamy crab in coconut gravy is a rather unique dish. The taste is sweet and flavorful and the crab meat is fresh and juicy. Shi Fu Ge is located near to Sembawang shopping centre along a stretch of other food eateries. It isn't hard to get there as I've thought as there is a shuttle bus from Sembawang MRT Station and the ride was only about 10 mins to Sembawang shopping centre. I was really impressed with the food at Shi Fu Ge restaurant. I enjoyed specifically the Assam Fish Head, Milky Crab with condensed milk and the crispy chicken. I couldn't stop eating the crispy chicken cubes and I think I could finish the entire plat by myself. It was just so good. In fact all the dishes that were served were really tasty. Shi Fu Ge have a wide variety of dishes and it definitely appeal to both the young and old generation suitable for family or friends's gathering as their food. The service was great too. The staff there will not hesitate to explain about their dishes and were really friendly. I would definitely consider going back there again for a meal or for family birthday gatherings. …查看更多

A friend recommended me to eat at this restaurant as they are currently offering a 15% discount for openrice coupon user and it's also situated near my house. This stretch of shops here is very much well known for the bai mee fen at You Huak and Shi Fu Ge is a good option as well. Anyway from the outside, you can't really tell that the place is big and it's a zi char specialist. They even serve exotic food like Buddha Jump Over the Wall etc.I ordered my favorite sam lou hor fun (Fish Slices) and also stir fried broccoli with scallops. I like the fact that the fish slices offered were thick and with lots of tau gay. The broccoli was also to my liking, cooked with just the right amount for a good dinner. In terms of food wise, this place seems potential, but it does not come across to me what is their number 1 signature dish. Maybe I will check out with the staff next time. I guess don't really know how to eat this dish but the sauce was yummy, it was spicy and sour which opened up my appetite. This fried tofu with garlic topping was the second best among the dishes, the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The garlic topping gave a slight salty taste to the otherwise plain tofu. The broccoli on the other hand, is hard and isn't good as a side dish.This asam fish head curry was spicy yet yummy, however, I find that the vegetables were slightly overcooked. The fish was rather fresh and had me craving for more. The dish is best eaten while hot because after the fire has ceased, i find that the taste had dropped by a big amount.This seafood bee hoon tasted normal but the amount of seafood given was just right. Also, the bee hoon wasn't too watery and it served best with asam fish head curry.This creamy crab was my least favourite :( it had a strong coconut taste and after one spoonful of the sauce, i was sick of it. However, it was rather unique to see creamy crabs and it was my first time eating one! This 4 kings vegetables was yummy, they were stir-fried with small shrimps which made the whole dish more tasty. This fried chicken cubes in salted egg yolk was the best among all the dishes i tried. The chicken wasnt fried till too tough and the salted egg yolk gave the meat a distinct taste which made you coming for more. Also, I did not have the sick feeling after eating quite a lot of it so i would strongly recommend this dish if you are going to Shi Fu Ge.This was sweet and sour pork, it tasted slightly hard and i was a bit sick of it. first time having Zi Char in Sembawang area. Shi fu ge is quite easy to locate from Sembawang shopping mall. price: S: S$5, M:S$8, L:S$10Mixed seafood noodles. I love how its not too salty yet not bland, healthy, and the gravy has a thick enough texture for easy consumption. Cuttlefish is chewy and prawns are fresh.price: S:S$6, M:S$8, L:S$10Eggplant with Lima beans & lady finger served in spicy chilli paste. Lima beans are crunchy and its bitter taste balance out the saltiness of this dish to give it a really unique taste. Perfect! :)price: S:S$10, M:S$15, L:S$20This pork knuckles coated in honey is really delicious. Its chewy and flavourful, with a tinge of sweetness from the honey, perfect combination of flavours. Although I'm not a fan of meat with bones it in, this was exceptionally good.Price: market price S$ 20-35Crab in condensed milk and coconut gravy. This is really unique, since I have never tried crab in sweet sauce besides the usual sweet & sour variation. Lima beans gives this dish a really exotic taste and complements the chilli paste , lady fingers and tofu really well.This is one really special crab this.. first time in my life have I tasted crab cooked in coconut and condensed milk. Love the sweet sauce which brings out the flavour in the crab meat.Overall I had a fabulous meal here. I would definitely come back again & bring my friends & family here. A big thank you to OpenRice for inviting me to this ORTU (not sure if I get it right), but I was really looking forward to tasting some great food after reading up a few reviews about this restaurant. It has a very homely feel to it, and had me expecting some really authentic delicious Chinese food. Here's what I have to say.Love the asam smell of this dish. In terms of taste, it is a little too mild for my liking, due to my preference to strong tastes. Could do with a little more spicy and sour. Still a nice dish as I don't really get to eat Asam Fish very often. The fish is really fresh by the way. Great restaurant policy to use only fresh ingredients! The bee hoon has a nice presentation. All the seafood makes a great decoration. It looks like a very healthy dish, and it tastes just as healthy. Well they provided chili padis so i'm not really complaining. I like the texture of it though, everything just goes down the throat so smoothly (except for the sotong and prawn of course).Another unique dish hardly found in Singapore. It's called the 4 heavenly kings or something, but what made it unique is the petai beans. Well just like durians and smelly tofu, it's something that you either love or hate. I'm not a big fan of vegetables, but the dish is well stir-fried. The amount of sambal is just nice, providing sufficient taste without ruining the freshness of the vegetables.All of the OpenRicers that day agreed that this is the best dish. It's called the golden chicken cubes, but it's basically chicken stir-fried with salted egg yolks. The chicken is crispy and tender, but I really wish they could be more generous with the egg yolk! A must try dish for those who loves salted eggs.By now, you should realize that all the dishes were unique in their own ways, either in terms of presentation or cooking methods. This is sweet and sour pork that comes in very small bite size pieces. I love the taste, which is well balanced, unlike normal ones which are usually heavily coated in batter with too much sauce.Voted my best dish, the tofu looks scary to me at first, with all the onions and fried garlic on top. Took me a great deal of courage to bite into one and it automatically ended up rank 1. The sauce is really tasty that's for sure. Must try.When this dish was first served, nobody had a clue as to what is it. After much speculation, we concluded that it is pork knuckle. I do not really appreciate this dish, as the taste was too strong, and it's mostly fats which I do not eat. And finally comes the last dish of the day. It's a total representation of how unique the food can get. I have never tried such a flavor for a crab before in my entire life. It looks super appetizing, and I scooped dollops of the gravy into my bowl. It's a little too sweet for my liking though, probably due to the coconut milk. Still, for those crab lovers out there who wants to try something new, go for it. We came here to celebrate my mum's birthday as one of my sis colleague recommended this Zi Char place opposite Sembawang Shopping Center. I am not sure if this is the one my sis colleague recommend as there are a couple of Zi Char restaurants there. And my mum is aware that there's this popular Zi Char she used to go right opposite Sembawang Shopping Center too. But as we walked in, the restaurant was quite empty. Then we realized this Zi Char restaurant was not the one we intended to patronize. Nonetheless we gave it a shot.This is a very ordinary Zi Char restaurant with plain decoration.We ordered the following dish for 5 of us.Curry Fish HeadThe curry is not the best curry I have try but not that bad, good enough for us to finish the whole pot! It is not too spicy and the thickness of the curry is well balance.Cereal PrawnsTheir Cereal Prawns is kind of special, they include the egg york with the cereal. Taste was great and the prawns were fresh as the shell could be easily detach.One of the Signature Dish: Salted Chicken or something.If you just happen to be here, a must try is this dish! Everyone of us is fighting for a piece of it. If the table was big enough, we could have order a second round for it. The chicken is extremely tender and it is not that oily. And what I like about it is - it is boneless! :)Kang KongThis dish is just the normal Zi Char dish you can find at any Zi Char restaurant. Nothing speical.Black Pepper CrabThis was my first time having the black pepper crab, and it was good! Just that it can be a lot of work to eat the black pepper crab. All of our hands were so filled with the black pepper and the black pepper just stuck inside our nails. Still, the crabs here are quite fresh.The total bill was about $80+.
