After a hardworking day of volunteering work on a Saturday morning, we decided to reward ourselves a little by having a ramen meal at the nearby mall, hence Menya Musashi it was! When this outlet first opened, there were always long queues, so the I-will-not-queue-for-food me have yet to try it till now.First ramen to be served was the Black Shabu Ramen (SGD$14.90), using a variety of black sauce, garlic and onion, giving it a heavier flavor that is nonetheless very aromatic. The shabu pork was rather tender, making for a satisfying but rather average ramen meal, served with the essential flavored egg, bamboo shoot and spring onion.The White Chashu Ramen (SGD14.90) features the signature white tonkotsu broth made by boiling a substantial amount of pork bones, giving it a rich and creamy taste. The succulent slices of chashu pork was the highlight of this dish naturally, infused deliciously in the tasty broth.I chose the Red Seafood Ramen (SGD$15.90), a pool of supposedly spicy soup base laden with lots of seafood - prawns, squids, scallops, flavored egg etc. The soup was not spicy at all, so I kept dousing Japanese red chilli powder onto it; the noodles were rather limp as well. The queue was not as long as expected. We waited roughly about 20 mins before we were directed to our seats. The restaurant was full house at that time. Service was good and we waited for a short while before our food was brought to us.They offered 3 types of ramen base: white (original), black (garlic) and red (spicy). Didn't try it though. I ordered the Curry Bukotsu. Contrary to what was expected, it was a curry broth instead of curry sauce. It tastes nice and the ramen portion is well worth for its price. Definitely worthy of a chef's recommendation. Side dish ordered was the golden mushrooms. It is crispy and nice. Mixing with the curry broth makes it equally delicious.Definitely a recommend for ramen lovers. (:

"Black" Cha Shu Ramen (Black Tonkotsu Ramen)I had this ramen with an extra side which only cost me $14.90++ in total. I had gyoza as my side ( had done the review on the gyoza here before). I gotta say i love the black tonkotsu ramen much more than the red one (the one that i had in the past)! the broth is so much thicker and richer and not so salty too. the char siew were good too. those that will melt in your mouth once you placed it in and they are tender too. The noodle is chewy and i love this flavor so much more. will definitely ordered this flavor again when I am back in future.

I used to work near Raffles City Shopping mall and I would always see a long queue outside this restaurant on my way back to the train station. The long queue started forming as early as 6 am! I decided to wait for the hype to die down first. There are three different types of soup base to choose from, the white (original), black (black sauce) and red (spicy). As it was my first time, I chose the recommended Black Mori Ramen in black soup broth. They also give you an option to upsize the noodles by up to 5 times! Every dish comes with a small bowl of dipping sauce, which is flavourful and definitely added taste to my ramen. I particularly like the ramen here as it is cooked well and very springy. However, I felt that the broth was a little too rich for me. The evenly sliced chashu, though a little salty, is tender and contains a good portion of fats.

Menya Musashi is one of those ramen shops in Singapore which is able to give us a true taste of Japan. Since the key to a good ramen is the broth, this restaurant offers soup base in White (original tonkotsu broth) , Black (black sauce, garlic & onions) and Red (spicy, chili oil). The White Chashu Ramen ($12.90) was great, a classic at its best where the texture of the noodle is soft but springy, along with the delicious rich concentrated tonkotsu broth that you know has been boiled for many hours. The egg (hidden in the picture) was also a flawless half-boiled perfection. So I've also ordered some Fried Chicken ($6.90) as my sides. Although I only touched them after I was halfway done with my ramen, the wings were still hot, which tells me a lot about how well they cooked it. The sticks also made it easier to eat without worrying about your image. Overall, although the ramen wasn't the best I've tried, it was still worth going back again because it's still unique in its own way and to me, it's considered above average hence worth the value too!
