I visited slightly later after lunch hour, so the queues that usually snake from this outlet was gone and I was able to get a seat very easily. I decided to try something exotic and went for the black soup base, which is essentially made from black garlic. I ordered their Black Chasu Ramen ($12.90). The ramen noodles were sufficiently springy and chewy, and they were topped with a variety of toppings such as seaweed, thick chasu slices, wood ear and egg. The ramen soup base was a hearty thick black coloured base which I found a little too oily and garlicky for my liking, but nonetheless went well with the noodles and ingredients provided.

If you're deciding to dine here, it would be best to come early so as to avoid the crowd and queues. Was there relatively early at about 5plus for dinner and there weren't alot of people yet. Was there relatively early at about 5plus for dinner and there weren't alot of people yet. However service was lacking as it took quite awhile for the waiter to come and take our orders despite being seated for awhile already.

Since there was 4 of us, we ordered tsukemen ($14.90). We tried all the 3 broths and an additional broth and we also upsized the portion x2. The upsize is free, up to 5 times. The white broth consists of pork and fish paste, the black broth fried garlic and onion, red one consists of chilli and bean paste.

The most fun part that we were looking forward to is dipping our noodles into the broth! The broth may seem to be of a small bowl but, it's concentrated that it's enough to last you for your meal. I didn't even finish it in the end because it's quite concentrated. The white broth was awesome!! But I didn't like the black one because it has too much garlic smell and the red one was simply just spicy for me and both types just seem to have a layer of oil surfacing on the broth. Each bowl of ramen consists of bamboo, one egg and char siew. 2X upsize was too much for me as I did not finish it in the end and eventually got abit sick of eating ramen+broth etc. If you've a hearty appetite, this would be quite a good deal as you can choose to upsize the ramen.

Do order hot green tea as it is a good combination with either of the broth and it's refillable. But the staff took really long to attend to us when we asked for refill. We had to ask twice but none came back with any hot tea for refill until I had to get up and walk over to the counter to ask for it.

By the time we left, the queue outside was really long.

Menya Mushashi is famed for its own brand of Tsukemen (dipping noodles). Diners can choose from 3 sauces, White (original pork broth), Red (spicy) and Black (garlic). The ramen is served separately from the broth selected. To consume, simply take portions of the ramen, dip in broth and down the hatch

The Black (garlic) broth was much more savoury in my opinion, but I'd want to caution any fellow foodie from simply drinking out of the bowl unless you have water in reserve. A lot of water.

Currently, the restaurant is running a promotion, where you can order a set meal at $15++ and get additional miso soup and gyoza. Though not as plump as some of the gyoza I tried, those at Menya Mushashi did hit the spot with a brilliant texture contrast and flavourful filling.

This would probably be my ramen of choice whenever I'm at Raffles City. =D

If you are hungry for some ramen, Menya Musashi is the place to go for its thick soup base! I had tried the Black and Red soup base. Prefers the black one - garlic flavour. I realised there is price difference between the Raffles City and Star Vista branch. Star Vista branch has a set menu which costs from $13.90++ onwards, it includes a ramen and a side dish. So if you want to try their side dish and wants to save some money, go to Star Vista branch and try. Highly recommended.

If you are around Raffles City during meal time, you can always see a long queue outside Menya Musashi! This ramen place is so popular that people are willing to wait for long. We started the meal with Sushi roll ($5.90), the ingredients are fresh and good flavour, and serve as a good appetizer. I had the Akiba curry ($14.90), the limited edition version of ramen. The curry broth is pretty thick, the typical kind of Japanese curry, but stronger flavour. Quite yummy to eat at first, but could be

Black kakuni ($14.90) is a must try I reckon. The rich and salty tonkotsu broth served with black cha siew ramen, and infused with a combination of fried garlic and fermented onions, very comforting and tasty.

A friend of mine recommended to try out this Ramen restaurant. I ordered the Black Cha Siu Ramen!Thumbs up for the thick soup base! Not too oily and the Cha Siu was lean and not too much fats on it. Serving size was moderate and the main thing I really liked was the soup and noodles were served really hot! Best tosavour this bowl of ramen during cold weather! You should try this if you have a craving for ramen!
