Named after a legendary samurai, Miyamoto Musashi, who was famed for his double sword style, the award winning Menya Musashi has become a household name in Japan since making its debut in 1996. Featuring a creamier soup base than most ramen, it comes in white, red and black versions. 繼續閱讀

5X ramen was ordered by boyfriend because he is a big eaten. He ordered the white tora. I try the ramen too which i love the texture of the ramen. 5X ramen service only available on Cha Shu Tsukemen. He also added bowl of soup as he scared it was not enough. It cost $14.90 and with an additional soup order earlier will be extra $3.I had a Cha Shu don that cost $7.90 instead! 繼續閱讀

It is the time of the year when it is raining almost every day. The rainy weather and the freezing air con of my office gave me the urge to have something warm and soupy for my lunch. Intended to have my lunch at soup spoon but was held back by the long queue that was forming up outside the restaurant. Then i spotted Menya Musashi which was just directly opposite soup spoon and since it was still quite empty, decided to have my lunch there. The soup of the ramen is too salty and oily to my preference. It came with only one pathetic piece of Cha Shu with a piece of Seaweed and a soft boiled egg. I think aijsen ramen seems to taste better. Came as a side together with the Ramen. The cuttlefish was abit too tough and chewy. It does have a mild taste of curry. The only good thing was that it was served piping hot. 繼續閱讀

Was looking for a place to grab a quick bite in the forever crowded Orchard area and happened to see that there was no queue outside of Menya Musashi (it was about 20 minutes to 6pm on a Saturday evening). Wanting to satisfy our hunger quickly, we headed in and ordered the usual fare we would have in ramen places.First up was the gyoza which was juicy and lightly grilled on one side. I think the volume of the filling and the size of the gyoza was just nice. One thing which needs improvement should be that it needs a bit more time on the grilled side to make it more crispy. As for the white tora ramen, the noodles were OK but the soup was a little too salty and oily to my liking. The char siew was pretty big but then it didn't feel as tender as I would have wanted it to be.I've not tried the other Menya Musashi outlets but just purely based on what I've tasted, I think the ramen here is decent but I probably would not want to queue up for it. I may return only if the restaurant is not jam-packed. 繼續閱讀

My friend and I were deciding on what to have for dinner and then we were both attracted to this super strong yummy smell which we assumed come from this restaurant, Menya Musashi. And thus, dinner was settled there!White Cha Shu Tsukemen w 4pcs Gyoza set (SGD14.90)Love the crispy gyozas!! They were cooked to perfection! Ever since I attempted cooking some on my own the other time, where the skin broke, I really 佩服 those who can master it well!Ramen was alright, you had to dip the ramen and ingredients into the pork broth tasting sauce and eat, similar to cha soba's style! After a while, I think the salt content was too much, my friend and I had glasses and glasses of water!Cha Shu had this slight burnt bbq taste! The egg was disappointing though, slightly overcooked. 繼續閱讀

Still not convinced that the Tokyo version is better, I decided to make a return to Menya Musashi. I ordered the ala carte Cha Shu Ramen Special which comes with the Black Tora Soup and also Dokko Octopus. This costs $15.90 before GST and the set lunch one cost $14.90, for a merely $1 more, you get one more cha shu and also the fried beancurd skin instead of the seaweed. It made me wonder if the set lunch is not value for money. Was hoping the server give some recommendations but no. Took around 10min for the food to arrive. Presentation wise not impressed, with the meat shielded by the beancurd skin. You get 2 round sized cha shu and half a tamago egg. Soup was nice, deeply flavoured but i find it a tad oily and most importantly could not bring back my memory of tokyo. The octopus is nice but pretty much many other places can match the quality. Overall just an average eat but if you would like a quiet ramen joint to eat on your own in the afternoon after peak hour, this is the place. 繼續閱讀
