The 8 flavor pork belly is really the bomb - reminds me much of the one I ate back in Seoul last year. I personally love the gochujang marinated one, but overall all meats are well flavored and not too fatty. Great ambience and service too

Tried the 8 Colours Set Version 2.0 [$98]: Original, Pine, Green Tea, Yuzu, Plum, Blackberry, Ginger Honey and Kalbi. I am speechless on how good it is... If you love BBQ and pork, this is THE place. The marination is so well done that each bite is so flavourful. If you still have room, top up the Army Stew at only $6, such a steal!

The first thing that you notice when you enter 8 is the setting. Set in chick industrial setting, it is a refreshing diversion from the traditional Korean BBQ restaurants that has been popping up like mushrooms in Singapore. The meat is cooked on angled grill pan by the well trained service staff.

For Oink Oink lovers like us, this place is a dream come true. A must order here is the whole 8 type of pork belly, 8 colours set ($98) which comes with Kimchi, Bean Sprouts, vegetables and Seafood Bean Paste stew. As we were keener to try the Army Stew, we ask to change and top up the difference of $6.

If you order items like us, the following is on how the order of the food will be. Korean Grill Squid ($18) and 8 Special Steam Egg ($12). The squid is quite huge and grilled with a touch of butter for taste. It is springy and tender, and comes with a soy and mayonnaise dipping sauce. Best eaten while it is hot. A unique cooking method that is different from most of the Korean BBQ, 8 will place their kimchi and bean sprout on the grill and it become a hot side dish. The steam egg is light and fluffy, but at side the stone bowl, the eggs can be a bit dry.

The side dishes are very limited, however it is free flow together with the wrapped vegetables. If you need sliced garlic or other condiments just ask the service staff.

Next will be the beef. You can choose from US Prime Beef or Kagoshima Wagyu. We tried their US Prime Beef Rib Eye ($58). The size is about 300 gram with nice marbling on the beef, seasoned with salt and pepper. Cooked to medium rare, it is tender and just melts in your mouth. Awesome!!

The army stew is decent as its objective is to fill up your tummy. Ingredients are pretty basic, instant noodle, sausage and luncheon meat cooked on seafood soup base with bean paste.

For highlight of the dinner, 8 type of seasoned pork belly: Original, Red wine, ginseng, garlic, herb, curry, miso paste and red pepper paste. The first four has a more lightly flavoured seasoning, while the later 4 has a stronger flavoured seasoning.

Since the cooking is done by the service staff, the pork bellies achieve the right texture. It was cut to bite size and has a crisp texture and it just melts in your mouth. So Sinfully Delicious!!!

Our preference so far is: wine, original, herbs and miso. We find these flavour complements the pork belly instead of overpowering it.

We tried their Ginseng chicken soup ($25) and Seafood Pancake ($20) on different occasion, but we find them quite ordinary. The ginseng chicken soup version here has a light cloudy broth and the chicken is not stuffed with rice. The ginseng taste is not very commanding. Meanwhile the pancake taste very plain and a bit too oily.

Service is friendly and good. Each service staff was allocated between 2 to 4 tables, as they need to be in charge of the cooking so it is easy to catch their attention. In case if you are worried about the oil and smell get to your bags, you can put them inside your stool. The table are very small, so you hardly any space put your stuff on it. Unfortunately, you will come out for the place smelling like bbq pork belly, so not recommended if for lunch if you have to go back work afterwards.

Overall, we find this pork belly centric restaurant is excellent; it is one of my favourite. The pricing is reasonable and it has become a place to go to satisfy my sinful cravings. So if you are around Central, give this place a try. Gun Bae!!! Cheers!!!

The 4 colours set meant we could choose 4 types of marinated pork which also came with a large seafood stew and the usual set dishes. We chose miso, wine, garlic, and smoked pork.

The seafood stew was large! The soup base in 8 Korean BBQ Restaurant was milder, less robust, and without the sweetness of fresh seafood.

The BBQ pork belly was another thing altogether. They were marvelous. The waitress set out the thick slices of pork belly on the grill and doled out large portions of kimchi and beansprouts beside them. She proceeded to grill the pork for us patiently, flipping them around and making sure that they were grilled evenly to crispy juicy slices.

Once the pork belly was ready, she cut them into smaller slices and arranged them neatly into 4 neat piles. The kimchi and beansprouts were also nicely heated up by that time. I have to say, the kimchi at 8 Korean BBQ was delicious. It was the most yummy, fragrant, and crunchy kimchi I've ever tasted. The pork belly was fantastic too. Slices of thick juicy cuts, extremely well-marinated, and grilled to perfection. I am particularly fond of the garlic flavour because it was the tastiest and most fragrant marination of the 4 types we ordered.

The marination was definitely good at 8 Korean BBQ Restaurant. The flavour was fully absorbed in all slices and the meat was incredibly tasty. Service was excellent and the waitress made a good effort to ensure that our slices of pork belly were evenly grilled. They also came to our table to check on us often. I would be back!

Decided to satisfy our craving for korean BBQ at this restaurant. We dropped by on a friday evening during dinner time. You may choose to sit indoors or outdoors- we preferred the outdoor seating area because the ventilation seemed slightly better, and we figured in the evening breeze will help cool us down. It also helps that the outdoor area faces clarke quay and the river and you really get to enjoy watching the pockets of activity and lights as night falls.

The dinner menu is relatively simple- the main highlight is the BBQ items- the restaurant only serves beef and pork and some special seasonal items listed on separate menu. We ordered the 4 colours set ($58) which is essentially a choice of four types of marinated sliced pork meat. We had a hard time choosing from the variety offered- but decided to settle with red pepper paste, wine, garlic and herb. The set comes with korean starter appetiser dishes, soup (we went with the bean paste seafood). This is not a self service joint- their staff will help grill your meat orders to perfection, so you can sit back and relax and not worry about under/overcooking your meal. The pork slices are really thick and tender and take some time to be cooked. Generally, the pork slices were well cooked and came out really juicy. We ended up preferring the pork with stronger marinates such as wine and red pepper as we were able to discern the taste- the other marinates were rather mild and tasted normal.

The bean paste seafood soup took rather long to cook but it was truly a cornucopia of seafood- with fresh mussels, cockles, squid and prawn to be found in it. The soup base is slightly salty and pretty mild- the other choice was a spicy soup base which we did not dare order.

Our waiter was a really friendly korean, who speaks really good english. He made recommendations on what sauce to eat our meats with and drinks to go with our meal and we also managed to make small talk as he cooked for us. The service here is really commendable- the people are really friendly and they even accommodated my request to charge my dying mobile phone. Overall, I enjoyed the service, food and environment here, though it seems a little pricey.

We were served by a pretty staff, mandarin speaking and talkative. She was obviously skillful, managed the pork and veggies quick. Small dishes such as Kimchi and Korean Beansprouts were refillable. The meat was actually too thick for me, tender until very hard to bite-off.

Frankly speaking, it was mushy and not enough burntly fragrant. Too bad I forgot to snap a photo with Kimchi Rice, it was stir-fried in front of me after clearing the soup, sizzling hot yet a bit wet. Overall, it was pleasant experience to know more about Korean Cuisine. Kamsahamnida colleagues!!

Authenticity takes on a whole new meaning right there.

The menu at E!GHT is fairly concise with the owners choosing to place a fair bit of emphasis on exquisite cuts of meat and premium quality instead.

As aforementioned, their 8 Colours Set $98 is a speciality here and the custom-made wooden tray displaying the 8 cuts of 100% Berkshire Pork from USA, differentiated by their marination, is seen on almost every table. This portion which feeds 3-4 diners comfortably also comes with complimentary homemade Banchan, Seafood Bean Paste Stew and Scorched Rice Soup served at the end to cleanse your palate.

As a full-service restaurant as well, BBQ-ing here at E!GHT is thankfully not self-serviced. So sit back and enjoy as the well- trained staff grill your meats for you to the precise doneness as you kick back a couple of beers or soju bottles. Whichever rocks your boat more, be it Korean Hite Beer $8, Chamisul Soju $20, Korean Rice Wine $20, Korean Herbal Wine $20 or even Korean Raspberry Wine $35, the alcoholic selection promises to please.

Before firing up the grill, your server will always recommend the best order in which to eat the 8 different flavours of meat- which is from the lightest to the boldest i.e. Wine, Original, Ginseng, Garlic, Herb, Curry, Miso and Red Pepper Paste. Tasting them all in one sitting helps you to identify which flavour stands out best for you and which ones left no impression.

While waiting for your pork to be ready on the grill, do not forget about the bubbling pot of Seafood Bean Paste Soup on the other stove, brimming with prawns, cabbage, mussels and toufu that has just the right amount of spiciness without being too overwhelming. Request for a refill of soup if you get too carried away slurping it all up.

For a change from the usual Bibimbap, the Seafood Bibimbap $18 offers a vibrant alternative with crunchy bits and delight pops contributed by the generous topping of fish roe on the rice.

E!GHT Korean BBQ has also proved to have excellent taste in Kpop, evident from their choice of music videos looping on the flat-screens mounted around the restaurant. You are forgiven if you find yourself bobbing your head to the music.

Concept wise, E!GHT wins points for novelty and thoughtfulness. I believe that this might just be the first Korean BBQ restaurant guys can bring their dates to, even if it was a dressy occasion.

And while there is little doubt that the meats served here are of premium quality, expertly treated with delectable marinates and bbq-ed with skill, I do hope that with some adjustments, the lighter flavours can be more distinct and pronounced for a heightened satisfaction to thoroughly experience the range and variety.
