I was pumping petrol at Esso, so I just parked there (they have lots for their customers) The place was well ventilated, and the service from the staff was so-so except for that one bit which I may have gotten them on a bad day or something, the counter staff was slamming and throwing around change. For $7 Yong Tau Foo is quite unjustified for me maybe because I’m not a fan of it. The portion is so-so. I've heard quite a few good things about this place but my experience was ruined by poor service and besides it is a little costly and limited options. 繼續閱讀

Ampang Yong Tau Foo, from its name, serves an authentic style of Yong Tau Foo in Ampang style (normally in soup base of gravy base) Decided to give this outlet at Joo Chiat a try since we are on the road looking for something nice to eat for our late dinner. The shop is bright and no menu is available for you to choose. The server will normally choose the Yong tau Foo for you depending on how many person you are with. We choose from the soup base style and it comes with fishballs, lady finger, brinjal and tau kee etc. My favorite is definitely the fried tau kee and their fishballs as their ingredient is fresh. They don't serve ice water there, and the only drink available is their sour plum drink. Will be going back again, only if there's a craving. 繼續閱讀

Never try a dry style Yong Tau Foo that is so yummy. The ingredients are nicely fried to the extent that it is not too dried but still juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The taste is simply unforgettable. I could finish the whole plate by myself. Depending on the ingredients you choose, mine cost me about $7. Looking at the serving the price is really reasonable and the quality is really good. a good lunch that made my day 繼續閱讀

Decided to takeaway Sunday lunch from this Ampang Niang Tu Fu shop. Have seen it around but have not tried it. This shop is opposite the Katong church. It sells 1 pcs of normal size Niang Tou Fu at 70cents. They will charge you $7 per pax, so if you say 3 people eating, you will end up paying $21. If you are a small eater, better order according to the number of pieces you can eat, as it is expensive. For my takeaway order, they pack the soup, crispy beancurd skin and sauce separately. If you eat in, the items will be put on top of the small amount of soup. The fishball was bigger than normal, like the size of a golf ball. But for the fried quail egg, 70 cents a piece is too expensive. The other stuffed items like egg plant, lady fingers are normal size which you get at other place. The items were tasty and soup is clear & cooked with soya bean. 繼續閱讀

This shop has been at katong area for many years. Not much renovation was done and the chairs are rather worn out. But I am quite impressed by the cleaniness of the place. I started to take notice only when I scooped the chilli and sweet sauce from the container. I seldom see containers that do not have chillies paste stick to the rim. They only serve soup Yong Tou Fu and the crispy beancurd skin is placed on top to retain its crispyness when served. A side plate was given for you to place the crispy beancurd skin. Most of the ingredient are home made, and the stuffings used is meat instead of fish paste. Overall the food is great, but I do find it rather pricy. 繼續閱讀
