It was a rainy day and the wife and I were itching to try out some place new. Artistry (a hybrid new art gallery and cafe) came up in our conversation and viola, we made the trip down to try our luck at getting a table (they don't take reservations). The cafe isn't big, with a couple of tables indoors and a few long benches in the al fresco dining area. Since the weather was nice and cooling, we opted to sit outside over the rather squeezy tables inside.Crab Burger - A rather sizable patty chock full of crab meat shreds topped with sweet caramelised onion and tomato jam, sandwiched between two unremarkable buns. Pretty decent but the taste of the crab could be a little more pronounced in my humble opinion. The accompanying truffle fries were cut a tad too thick for my liking and coated with flour, which gave it a relatively stiff texture. Not really my cup of tea.Nasi Lemak Burger - Now this was rather interesting. Pandan buns infused with coconut shreds coupled with a sunny side up, ikan bilis (dried anchovies), peanuts and a slab of juicy but relatively bland piece of breaded chicken thigh. Accompanied by a small dish of mildly sweet and spicy chilli. In all honesty, there was some resemblance to the real nasi lemak (coconut milk rice) but the less than fresh tasting peanuts could do with a little more work. Oh yes and maybe the chicken could use some seasoning. Nonetheless, still a thumbs up for the idea.PB&J French Toast - And of course desserts. The peanut butter & jelly french toast sported a a beautifully crisp surface while the insides were lightly moist yet airy and played host to a filling of smooth and sweet peanut butter and jelly. Served with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and finished off with a topping of blueberry jam and a dusting of icing sugar. Pretty simple yet delectable I must say!All in all, the both of us spent $54 for brunch (no service charge or GST is a plus!) which was quite reasonable considering that the food was quite decent overall and service was friendly. But the sole reason for my return would be for the PB&J french toast.See all my pictures at http://www.timelessfacade.com/2015/03/artistry-go-for-pb-french-toast.html 繼續閱讀

so after a short hiatus, guess what's finally back on Artisty's menu!Peanut Butter and Jam French Toast  One of the better french toast around, Artistry spreads peanut butter and jam between their brioche, and pan fries them to give a wonderful tasting dish. Topped with vanilla ice cream and recently crushed cookies, this sweet treat will give dessert lovers something to crave about. Tried it yet? what else are there?Crab Cake Burger  Marinated crab meat compressed into a ball, dipped in batter and later fried. Presented on a charcoal burger. How good this is, i can only say its crispy and flavorful. Probably a tint too small, but delicious anyway. The Nasi Lemak Burger (4Hands) An opinion divider. For me i found it more burger than local flavour. You scarcely notice the pungent coconut flavour, but the chilli makes for a good cause. The chicken patty was well done - crispy and tender, topped off with a free range egg. Found it surprisingly good. Not the best, but something different. Artistry is nestled beneath the shop houses along the main roads near Jalan Pinang. It is a combination of art gallery with cafe. It showcases art pieces from both the local and international artists. Cafe theme revolves between mysterious black and purity white with a combination usage of wooden stools and metal chairs as furniture. They had a communal concept, common dining for customers sitting together along a long bench. Whole area is quite small, probably fit up to around 25 patrons indoor and another 10 over outdoors.Ordered the following.Gibraltar ($5): Consist of double ristretto and foamed steam milk. Ristretto is basically short shot of espresso made from the usual amount of coffee powder but extracted using half the amount of water. It is less bitter than espresso and has a fuller body. But still, too much caffeine for me :/Big Breakfast ($18): The typical full breakfast set that consists of 2 multi-grain toast, scrambled egg, some button mushroom, green and a pork sausage. Pork sausage is good, not too dry rather juicy. Scrambled egg is light and fluffy. Overall, a decent brunch with not too much of surprise in taste.Duck Confit Croissant ($15): Shredded duck confit with scrambled egg and some greens between the croissant. It has a very good mouth feel. Crispy and flaky croissant, with the soft fluffy eggs and some bite force of the shredded duck confit. A good innovation to the brunch menu. Personally quite like this dish myself.Overall, a very nice ambiance to dine in. It’s like a bustling corner within an art gallery, very cozy and comfortable. And one interesting thing i notice about this cafe is that, i see more expats or foreigners dining in this cafe instead of the usual cafe hoppers crowd! Did not get to try their dessert, shall probably head down to try it another time as it looks so good!http://poohlovesfood.wordpress.com/2014/11/12/artistry/ for full review with pics. 繼續閱讀

Despite waiting for 15 minutes on a weekday (and for lunch, mind you), the food certainly worth the wait. We ordered creamy salmon spaghetti and spaghetti served with shredded duck meat. The creamy salmon spaghetti was very rich, cheesy, and creamy. Well, probably not the healthiest but who cares if it tasted great? The spaghetti was served with shredded duck meat. This one was spicy but didn't overpower the overall taste of the dish. It was fragrant and the herb mixture was awesome. For more food pics, follow me on Instagram @zanthrea 繼續閱讀
