Located at Katong Plaza is Baba Peranakan Truly that offers amazingly tasty Peranakan food at affordable price and great portion. Often overlooked or mistaken as a pub due to the bar stools and tall tables, most of their seats are situated along the walkway at the basement of the plaza.Clueless to Babi Ponteh's resemblance and taste, I could only wait patiently for it to unveil. To my pleasant surprise, it was a love-at-first-taste! The coarse looking gravy was smooth on the palate, heavily flavoured and with traces of sweetness from palm sugar.Doneness of the chunky Pork belly was out-of-this-world with the fat almost at melt-in-the-mouth stage! Food-gasm, if there is such word!Curry Fish Head was no stranger to me. For Peranakan style, one will expect sour and spicy flavours due to Tamarind (assam). This version drew similarities to Curry & Curry. Each mouth of curry gravy was as appetizing as the previous.Lastly, this pleasant plate of appetizer added texture to meal with its crunchy texture. Adorned with sweet and spicy chilli, it was so good that it was a snack in its own rights.Truly a pleasant experience here at Baba Perankan Truly. I will be back for more!
