Rendezvous Hotel, 9 Bras Basah Road #01-01 (Rendezvous Gallery), Dhoby Ghaut
開飯介紹
Named after Honoré de Balzac, the famous French novelist and playwright, the new Balzac Brasserie in Rendezvous Gallery serves up a slice of Paris the way its namesake does. Serving rustic French bistro classics, Balzac Brasserie is unpretentious and unassuming, but done with an amazing attention to details.

Having been to Balzac Bar and Brasserie before, enjoying the food, ambience and stumbling upon their Christmas menu, it was not hard to see why this was the chosen venue for dinner on the last night of the Bestie's visit in Singapore. It was quiet that evening, close to Christmas. They loved the faux grass-walls near the entrance of the restaurant because it was made to feel / look like an outdoors seating area. The usual bread basket was served, with butter and another un-decipherable dip.For mains, both the men (The Bestie's Hubby and The Beau) had the Beef Cheeks a la Cuillere (SGD$36.00) - 48 hours braised wagyu beef cheeks, bordelaise sauce and mashed potato. The beef cheeks were so tender they nearly wobbled in their form, yes, melt-in-your-mouth tender! The flavor was divine as well - softly saccharine as how red meat goes, with a slight tinge of savoury (the Bordelaise sauce).I had the Cod Fish Et Bacon (SGD$34.00) - slow cooked black cod with ragout of white beans and French bacon. The black cod was luscious and buttery-smooth the way I love it, and the bacon was crumbly the way I love it too, hence score two points for this dish. The ragout was rather unique, and had a chewy flavor cooked in slightly-sticky sauce, a good accompaniment to the bacon and cod.For full review and more photographs, please feel free to visit:http://thearcticstar.blogspot.sg/2015/01/dinner-at-balzac-french-restaurant.html查看更多

for photos and more reviews, visit http://thelittlemomentsofmylife.blogspot.com/:)when i found out that the French Kitchen at Central Mall closed down, i was so devastated! okay i’ve never tried it before, but i’ve heard that it was really good! luckily the good news is that the chef has moved to another restaurant, Balzac Brasserie in the newly renovated Rendezvous Grand food floor :) so glad that i still get to try his cooking after all!we decided to try something different this time instead of ordering the typical french onion soup etc. we ordered the charcuterie platter ($22) which was an assortment of various cured meats such as hand carved vintage saucisson sec, parma ham, smoked duck breast, rillittes de canard and salami served on a beautiful stone platter. i loved the bread speckled with nuts that came together on the platter. it provided a nice contrast that muted the saltiness of the meat.the beef cheeks a la cuillere ($26) was deliciously soft – wagyu beef cheek braised for 48hours, the meat was so tender it practically melted in our mouth. and the taste was au naturale, with the flavours of the beef erupting in our mouths with every bite. we absolutely LOVED the buttery creamy mashed potato that came with it as well!the roasted scallops ($25) were plump, juicy and seasoned with garlic and parsley, made for a tasty dish. and i loved the fat tomatoes that came with it ;)i thoroughly (and very surprisingly) enjoyed the duck confit ($26)! somehow i havent had very good experiences with duck confit, but this was REALLY GOOD! it has changed my mindset about this popular french dish completely. barely a hint of oiliness, the skin was crisp, while the duck meat was tender, juicy, and oh-so-flavourful. definitely a must-try :)we decided to try this super interesting dessert – the riz au lait ($9) was a traditional rice pudding that tasted really like bubor hitam!!! haha i think it was cos of the sweet glutinous rice texture. this was a really SWEET dish to satisfy any sweet tooth, and it came with a caramel sauce that just added on even more! haha. i liked the roasted pistachios that gave it some crunch as well :) it was a pretty good! until….…the valrhona chocolate moelleux ($12) arrived. and we all abandoned the poor rice pudding to attack this. it was soooo awesome!!!! a poufy souffle-like cover encasing a moist interior with warm molten gooey chocolate. we were all in seventh heaven after one mouth. paired with the cold tahitian vanilla ice cream, this was the PERFECT way to end the meal 查看更多

Finally! A place with good French food in central location! The interior of the restaurant is pretty dim, so no chance of you reading a book while waiting for your date! But the ambiance here is a very relaxing one. I had the Lobster Bisque and would have preferred some lobster meat in it. Perhaps I’m just not used to having it with the mini prawns which accompanied the dish. The Duck Confit was perfect; the skin was crisp and the meat was moist and tender. This is just the place to enjoy romantic meal. 查看更多
