Had a cosy weekday lunch with my son. The bistro wasn’t crowded, and the staff were very attentive and helpful. The risotto was cooked perfectly, and the burger was crispy and satisfying. Bee Cheng Hiang's bakkwa boasts the highest quality of meat hand weaved using a traditional bamboo sieve. It is smothered slowly for hours over live coals in our secret recipe. The smoking process seals in a flow of sweet and savoury marinate that infuses delectable moisture into every piece of meat.
The bakkwa is then barbecued over a glowing fire until it spatters and caramelize the tender meat in the all right place. Hot grill combined with dripping meat juice releases a sweet barbecue aroma to the already succulent meat meld together to deliver the authentic Bee Cheng Hiang Bakkwa.

Food was excellent — the bak kwa and pork floss paired surprisingly well with many dishes, especially the carbonara and toasties. The chicken katsu burger coated in pork floss was a standout. You can tell the menu is well thought out. We tried the wine pairing too, and Ji Xiang did a great job explaining each wine and how it matched the five bak kwa types. Together with Pauline, the service was smooth even during a busy period. Only downside was the strong BBQ smell; better ventilation would help, especially indoors. The sliced pork meat from Bee Cheng Hiang is definitely an ideal snack for all kind of occasions. This time round I have bought it for our company annual anniversary party.
