Oink Don $29.00++ *Highly Recommended*We highly recommend the Oink Don, if you're very hungry, craving for quality pork and love carbs! Starting from the top, take your pick on Deep Fried Pork Cutlet w/bone, Grilled Pork Chop, Roasted Pork Belly and Pull Pork Carnita. There's so much meat here, I think an entire piglet died for this main course! In all seriousness, the meat were very flavourful, juicy, not one molecule of the variety of meats here was dry. Add on the black pepper cream sauce and every item has a tinge of smooth and delicate peppery flavor.Check out the thick layer of pulled pork carnita covering the fluffy egg and Sambal Fried Rice w/ Black Pepper Cream and Bacon! The pulled pork is the most tender, most juicy pulled pork ever, definitely took alot of time to slow cook this to perfection! Yea Baby!Sea Don $35.00++ *Highly Recommended*This Sea Don comes with a spectacular sight of a Whole Lobster, King Salmon, Squid set above another "treasure", the Seafood Fried Rice w/ Garlic Butter Sauce, Prawns, Scallops, Octopus, Egg. I'll be very honest with you, the seafood fried rice is the best fried rice I have ever tasted. The rice itself has a distinct "wok-hei", and the rice absorbed all the sweetness from the variety of seafood cooked altogether. The crunchy prawns embedded in the rice also provide a nice bite in between the soft and pillowy rice.Enough about the rice? I could go on for days about the yummy seafood rice, but! The highlight of this dish, the Whole Lobster, showcases the high quality grade ingredients used at the Benjamins. The lobster has a sweet juice crunch and it's easily removed from the shell, a good sign of the meat being fresh. The salmon fillet is huge, it's actually longer than the bowl itself!Molten Lava Cheese Burger $25.00++Probably the next new hyper on social media is this Molten Lava Cheese Burger, served with a Choice of Fried Chicken Cutlet, Soft Shell Crabs, Beef. The soft shell crab here is also huge, I'm starting to realize that everything served here at The Benjamins is on the generous side! The cheese comes oozing on and it's great as a dipping sauce for the potato tater tots.Pizza Burger $28.00++ *Highly Recommended*Brand new on the menu is the Pizza Burger. The Benjamins takes pride in making their ingredients in-house, such as this Beef Patty, Pepperoni, served with a fusion of Black Olives, Grilled Artichoke, Spinach, Monterey Jack, Mild Cheddar. The minced beef patty has a good mix of meat, breadcrumbs, fats and seasoning making it extremely delicious and addictive. This meat patty looks to be approx 250grams.Overall : The Benjamin's continue to amaze our tastebuds and eyes with their innovative creations. Definitely try out the Sea Don, Oink Don and their smoothies, I'm quite confident you cannot find anything quite like these items in any other eatery in Singapore. 繼續閱讀

For picures and full review, pls visit:http://madamechewy.com/2016/02/27/the-benjamins/The Benjamins, previously known as Benjamin Browns, is recognized for their massive, exaggerated milkshakes. The bistro, located at Forum Shopping Mall is pleasantly decorated in an industrial-retro fashion.Let’s start with what The Benjamin is famous for: towering, insta-worthy OTT (over the top) milkshakes adorned with a plethora of toppings. Presented in mason jar, each rendition is fatally attractive and appears diabetes-inducing. But hey, YOLO!My vote goes to Coffee Avocado ($16), which has a lusciously creamy texture, without being overwhelming. Other milkshakes with chocolate notes are Nutella Banana ($16) and Cookies & Cream ($16). The former is lovely, but I find the latter forgettable. If you’re not a fan of chocolate, there’s Strawberry Cheesecake ($16). Presentation wise, this is gorgeous, but taste-wise, I find its ok. Nothing extraordinary.Other OTT milkshake options include Old School Vanilla, Tim Tams, Peanut Butter & Jelly, Milo Dinosaur and Caramel Crunch, which all goes for $16. I recommend sharing a milkshake between 2 persons, as the portions are generous and textures are rich.Apart from decadent beverages, The Benjamins also serve decent grub. For something substantial, go for the Sizzling Beef Chucks ($25), where well-marinated, juicy pieces of comfort sputtering furiously on a hot plate. It may look somewhat raw in this picture, but after a couple of minutes, the heat from the hot plate cooks the meat to a beautiful shade of pale pink.Another main course that captured our hearts was the well-executed Pork Chop with Mash Potatoes ($25). Mouth-watering sauce clocks the grilled swine, which was tender and juicy, and possessed a slight smoky aroma. The sweet potato mash was a suitable accompaniment that balanced out the saltiness of this dish. The Seafood Aglio Olio ($23) took me by surprise with its heat. It was spicy for sure, but not ridiculously spicy such that it numbs the tongue. I did not take a liking to the sour notes which made the pasta taste weird. For 23 bucks, the portion is unfortunately small, and the number of prawns and scallops (3 each) was sadly meagre.Hits and misses at rather high prices, me thinks. While The Benjamins is not the best there is, it’s a pretty safe option if you happen to be in the area. 繼續閱讀

Full review - http://midas400.blogspot.sg/2015/12/over-top-milkshakes-at-benjamin-browns.htmlHave been wanting to try the pretty looking OTT milkshakes from Benjamin Browns since it's sudden surge in popularity on social media. As we're not prepared to brave the long queues, we waited for the initial hype to fizzle out before making a trip down. The smallish restaurant is tucked away at a corner of the Forum Shopping mall.It was not very crowded when we arrived at about 7pm, but it did get busy from 7.30pm onwards. Do try to make reservations if you have a big group as there are limited seating available inside.Complimentary ice water was served to every table, check out the tiny red star on the glass. We quickly browse the menu and ordered two of their popular OTT milkshakes to share, and also main courses for each of us.We thought the shakes would take a while to construct but they came rather fast, even before our appetizer was served. Presenting...Nutella Banana shake and Old School Vanilla shake, $16++ each, standing tall with overflowing amount of assorted confectioneries as toppings. These photogenic shakes took us quite some time to finally complete photo taking. Fortunately, the toppings stayed put till the very end phew! Both of these OTT milkshakes tasted fine for me, sweet but pleasantly flavorful. I like picking the toppings out to munch on. Great dish for the desserts lovers.Main courses and appetizer were served while we're busy de-constructing the OTT shakes. We had Pork chops with mash potatoes $25++ and Sizzling beef chunks $25++, and a Truffle fries $15++ for sharing. My Pork chop was delish, meat was tender and well marinated, the sweet potato mash was sweet and creamy too. The Beef chunks were a hit with my friend who loved her beef to be juicy and slightly undercooked. I didn't touch the Truffle fries as it was covered with shredded parmesan cheese, but my friends thought it was pretty decent.Although the fanciful milkshakes are a little overpriced, Benjamin Browns is actually a good place to enjoy affordable and decent food. We redeemed 1 for 1 vouchers from The Entertainer App for the mains, and paid below $40 per head for a rather satisfying meal. 繼續閱讀

For the full review and more photos, head over to http://toroamtheworld.blogspot.com/2016/01/food-review-benjamins.htmlThe Benjamins, formerly known as Benjamin Browns, is a cafe in Forum the Shopping Mall. A few months ago they shot to fame with their Over-The-Top (OTT) milkshakes, which are milkshakes with many ingredients and snacks piled on top such that it's nearly overflowing.Nutella Banana Milkshake($16++): One of their bestsellers, this milkshake has Khong Guan-like biscuits layered with banana slices, cream, Tim Tam inside, a wedge of chocolate cake, and Nutella smeared on the rim to hold the pretzels there. The milkshake was rich, decadent and definitely a chocolate lover's dream. However, as you can see from the picture, it was hard to drink and start eating the ingredients!Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake ($16++): This milkshake was also milky and creamy, but I couldn't taste any sort of cheesecake flavour in the drink. So I guess the 'cheesecake' comes from the wedge of cheesecake on top, together with the Khong Guan biscuits, cream, strawberry, Tim Tams and wafer sticks.Crabmeat Arriabiata Linguine ($23++): Unfortunately this dish failed to impress. There was little crabmeat, and because of that, it made the dish seem like an ordinary plate of Spaghetti Bolognese...Fish and Chips ($23++): It was such a small and skinny serving of fish. And it came with a scant portion of salad, some fries, and sour cream. I didn't manage to try this from my friend, but even if it was really delicious, I'd rather order something else that's more worth my penny.300g Sizzling Beef Chunks ($25++): It comes with roasted baby potatoes and melted cheese on tomato. The beef chunks were really juicy and flavourful! They were chewy yet had a nice bite too. Very tasty, and this is what I call value for money. The Benjamin burger with bacon, eggs, cheese and mushroom ($25++): The beef patty was shaped in a ball, not the flat kind that's about the same circumference as the burger bun. As a whole it was quite tasty, the beef well cooked. But it wasn't very outstanding either.Overall, for the milkshakes, I think they taste ordinary. It's definitely the presentation that creates the wow factor. And actually, $16++ for a cup of this is very expensive! Food wise it was disappointing. For the prices that you pay, you'd expect a certain quality and portion of the food, but it certainly fell short. 繼續閱讀

Met up with some friends for dinner at Benjamin Browns for dinner one weekday evening after seeing how over the top shakes seem to be the rage nowadays.Benjamin Browns, or BB for short, sits on the first floor of the relatively quiet Forum The Shopping Mall and by virtue of an earlier reservation, we managed to snag a corner table. Seating is rather limited (probably ~ 20-30 pax) and there was a queue to get in after we were done with dinner.Carbonara - This wasn't my first choice but since they were apparently out of their "Benjamin Burger", I had to make do with this. And it wasn't a great choice; less than al dente pasta coupled with creamy but a tad watery base. Only consolation was the generous serving of bacon slices. Nothing like La Strada's (http://www.timelessfacade.com/2015/09/la-strada-excellent-carbonara.html).Nutella Banana Milkshake - And the primary reason behind our choice to dine at BB, their over the top milkshakes. Honestly it was no great shakes (pun intended) and definitely didn't look as pretty in real life as in those instagram photos (presentation came across as a little slip shod). It was essentially diluted banana milkshake topped with layer upon layer (3 to be exact) of sliced bananas, whipped cream and sugar crackers (which looked and tasted suspiciously like they were from Khong Guan), finished off with a brownie as the crowning glory and a chocolate wafer wedged by the side. Pretzels adorned the side of the glass, held together by a layer of gooey nutella. Overall this was a giant sugar rush and too much of it made me a little sick. Lesson learnt - share it, hence the 2 straws provided. Definitely not worth the $16++ though. My share came up to about $42 which wasn't quite worth the money in my humble opinion. Food was average at best and even the much vaunted shake fell flat. Service was also found wanting. One of the wait staff was obviously unsure about the menu and had to repeatedly come back to us about the food we ordered. Conclusion? Yet another run of the mill place hyped up and glorified by social media.See all my pictures at http://www.timelessfacade.com/2015/12/benjamin-browns-bistro-bakery-whats-all.html 繼續閱讀
