The prawn mee that I have always been wondering of everytime I pass by Beach Road. It was an impromptu decision on a Saturday Morning and we made a trip down for breakfast, finally!

The man prefers to have a bigger bowl for his stomach and got himself a big portion at $5.80 instead of the smaller portion that cost $1 less.

Prawn Noodles - $5.80 (Big)

Prawn noodle soup was topped with fried onions in oil, enhancing the flavours of the original bowl of noodles. The broth of the noodle plays an important role and at a very first mouthful of it, the taste of it had already stolen all my tastebuds away. It's sweet and rich flavourful soup was awesome.

There are not too much prawns in the prawns and pork ribs noodle. Sharing the same taste in the soup, this delicacy is undeniably one of the best in Singapore. Pork Ribs were cooked to such a way that meat fell off easily from its bone.

Prawns and Pork Ribs Noodle - $5.80
Yummy! I'm glad a trip to Beach Road is all worth while afterall, the taste was real good!

There are a few handful of tasty prawn noodles I have known and Blanco Court's prawn mee was somehow comparable to those. If you have more to spend, try ordering the 3 in 1 Noodle that consist of Prawn, Ribs and Tail to enjoy a full dining experience or if you are keen on bigger prawns, try out the Jumbo Prawn Noodle!

We ordered the dry and soup version.
The dry version served with bean sprout, vegetable, lard and few shrimp, the sauce was not too spicy and right at the note, the taste may not as good as Da Tou Xia Prawn Mee with lacking or insufficient dry shrimp (hia bee) to perk up the taste, it may not too refine but still comforting to the taste buds.
The soup version came with pork rib which was a little tough, prawns were similar to the dry version and nothing to complaint about. It was the broth that we are more particular, since we were there in the morning and the broth was fairly fresh with not much of the additional seafood flavouring added through the subsequent cooking process of the prawns.

We could not stop hankering for the broth, the most important component of any prawn soup. The broth packed a robust punch with bursting umami-packed flavors and the briny sweetness of the crustaceans. The fried shallots in the soup were infused to entice the taste buds. The best part? Free refills.

Somehow, it has become a non-obligatory yet mandatory thing to order some Ngoh hiang from the neighboring stall. Can't help it because the deep fried Ngoh Hiang was a savory and addictive appetizer to the prawn mee feast. The prawn crackers and fritters didn't leave much impression though.

My love introduced me to this Blanco Court Prawn Mee at Beach Road. I can say that it is one of the best prawn mee I have eaten! The prawns are bouncy and the soup is very tasty. If you like your noodle spicy, you can order the dry prawn mee. The spiciness of the chili is just right and not overpowering. The queue here is quite packed during lunch hour. However the after placing your orders and return to your seats, in a matter of minutes they will serve your orders.

My colleagues and I frequent Blanco Court Prawn Mee for lunch since it is a stone throw away from our office. The queue here can get long at times (as seen from the picture), but the Prawn Mee here is really worth waiting for. The prawns are big and are thoughtfully sliced into halves, clean from the prawns waste and ease for diners to de-shell. The flesh of the prawns is juicy and bouncy. The broth has a strong savory prawn flavor. Thumbs-up!

Went to the Blanco Court Prawn Noodle for lunch today - this stall is apparently very popular with the working crowd nearby.Wu Xiang pick and mix set. The stuff were ok but pretty oily. Not spectacular and probably just average. Can give it a miss unless you want additional food to go with your noodleTheir signature prawn noodle/bee hoon. The soup is good and the number of prawns are acceptable for the cost. However, a little too salty for my liking and the noodle is rather oily.

This has been a place that I visit since young, probably due to the influence of my parents who are regular patrons and swear by the jumbo wild tiger prawns which seemingly nowhere else in Singapore seems to serve! My mum would even jokingly remarked 'dua chiak, ho chiak!' which in Hokkien meant big and tasty!

The traditional rendition of prawn noodles from Xiamen is the classic version that is soup-based. However due to the need to cater to the needs of their Tibetan customers back then, the dry version was created, which reminded them of home. The latter version where dry chilli powder was added to the noodles was improvised with demand from Penang customers. Apparently, adding on chilli powder atop the broth is the Penang-style and one where its legacy continues!

For some reason, ngor hiang (sausage-esque roll filled with minced pork and prawn seasoned with 5 spices powder) had been a partnering appetizer to the prawn noodles here and seemed almost like a tradition to order it together with some classic guang chiang (pink pork sausage), crispy prawn crackers and yam fritters while waiting for the prawn noodles to be served. On this occasion, cursed with a small appetite, we decided to give this a miss and go straight to the mains!

At S$8, this was the smallest portion for the jumbo prawns category. For the normal smaller prawns, they would come at half the price for S$4. The jumbo prawns mostly came with prawn roe in each of them, so for the cholesterol conscious - beware! We are not exactly fans of prawn roe but the prawns were fresh and distinctly wild caught. The main difference is that burst of freshness in sea prawns which would not have that slightly stale taste like its freshwater counterparts. The prawns were thoughtfully sliced into halves for the lazy diners who would not have to get their hands dirty and messy with the de-shelling. The flesh of the prawns was succulent and bouncy. Topped with fried shallot and lard pieces, it gave an added layer of crispy crunchy texture to the soft al dente thick mee hoon (rice vermicelli) and that beautiful fragrance. While the greens were lacking in the bowl, it was compensated by the unami flavours of the broth, which had an initial taste of savouriness but concluded with a tinge of sweetness at the back of throat upon savouring. It might disappoint some if you are looking for a really strong oomph of the prawn flavours in the broth but do not get me wrong, it was pleasing to our palate, but just a heads up if you were looking for a more intense flavour. While the flavours of the dish and the freshness of the ingredients were spot-on, we felt that it was slightly overpriced at S$8 because what you are really getting is just two jumbo prawns.

The savoury brown broth was equally addictive in this version. Like the all-prawns-only noodles, they were sliced into half but that being said, you are essentially only getting 1 prawn and a few diced portions of the pork ribs. The ribs were beautifully chosen for their cut, with just the right amount of fat to complement the lean portions, giving it a succulent bite with its fresh meaty flavours exploding with juices inside your mouth. Likewise, the fried shallots gave the much desired texture and fragrance to the luscious bowl. Those who desire an extra punch of heat can pile on the chilli powder available at each table. On that note, if you are guilty of savouring the noodles with its broth in entirety, feel free to request for more broth at the counter and they would be more than happy to fill you up!

You will have to place your orders in person at the counter, but no cash will be taken then. Upon taking your orders (with or without drinks), you will be issued an order chit.

With the order chit, you will then need to come over to this drinks and payment counter (left hand side of the above picture). It is only here where only cash would be accepted. You could also order your drinks at the counter directly, but typically regular patrons would go for their homemade lime juice. A good quench for the constantly hot weather and a good refreshing tang to add to your savoury noodles! The ordered dishes however would be served to your table.

If you are planning a visit, do note that they only serve the morning and lunch crowd as they are closed at 4pm. It would be advisable to come slightly earlier but avoid the lunch crowd. It is open for business from 7.15am onwards and closes on Tuesdays. One thing which we would complain about is that it could do with some air-conditioning! Otherwise, this is an eatery which my family had been patrons for decades and would certainly continue to be, well unless its standards take a plunge of course!

I have always wonder where is the best prawn noodle in Singapore. Many people have told me that it is at Adam’s road. Well, I tried it a long time ago and was not convinced that it was the best. 2 years ago,I heard about a prawn mee stall in kitchener road that has garnered lots of reviews, but have not tried it. Last year, I happened to chance upon this prawn mee stall along beach road called Blanco Court Prawn Noodle. Wow, its the best I have eaten so far. I made a trip twice recently to savour their prawn noodles (along with pictures) to show to readers.

If you are a regular, you would have noticed that price has increased by $0.50. In addition, they now a new dish; Jumbo Prawn Noodle! I did not order this during my two visits. Hopefully I will be able to try this on my next visit and blog about it!

Despite there being a perpetual queue at Blanco Court Prawn Noodle, the waiting time at the queue and arrival of food is not long. They are very efficient! Look at the above picture. Each person has a task, it is like supply chain management. One does a part of the dish and then pass it down to the next person (left to right).

The Prawn & Pork Ribs Noodle (soup) was topped with fragrant fried shallots. There are 3 pieces of prawns (half) and around 4 to 5 pieces of pork ribs. The prawns were fresh; firm meat that can be easily de-shelled. The beansprouts hidden underneath the noodle was not overcooked and go well with the noodles. Nothing to shout about the pork ribs except that they were tender.

In a bowl of prawn noodle, the most important feature other than the prawn being fresh will be the soup. In this case, the soup was heavenly! Dark brown broth, rich and tasty flavour with umami taste from the prawns. Moreover, the soup is not oily. I found myself drinking spoonful after spoonful of this prawn soup. Totally souplicious! Certainty one of the best Prawn Noodle I have eaten.

If the soup is insufficient for you, feel free to bring your bowl to the counter and ask for more soup! I am guessing, this soup must have been prepared long before the stall opens with a combination of prawn heads, prawn meat, pork ribs and possibly lard. Any one has any idea?

I am never a fan of dry prawn noodle, believe the best prawn noodle has to be 'eaten in the soup'. Nevertheless, I decided to try the Prawn & Pork Ribs Noodle (dry with chilli). The prawn noodles was topped with shallots. There is chilli powder at the side should you require it. Comparing the two dishes, I still prefer my Prawn Noodle to be served in soup! Reasons being I felt that the chilli masked the taste (sweetness) of the prawns and also the soup. Well, its a matter of personal opinion.

Blanco Court Prawn Noodle is a shop house with 3 stalls in it, the prawn mee stall, drink stall and Nor Hiang stall. Majority of the people order the prawn noodles. This shop house can cater to quite a large number of people, despite it being packed during lunch time. The good news is that the turnover rate is very fast. Most people eat and go. The queue for the prawn mee and the wait for the prawn mee is quite fast too. They are quite efficient! Although there is no air-con, the place is well ventilated. Moreover, it is cleaner that hawker centres.

This is the best prawn noodle I have eaten so far. Anyone else has any recommendations on where the best prawn noodle stall in Singapore is?

Try to avoid peak hours and usually it can be very packed during weekends.
Go in the morning if u wanted a good seat and away from the crowd.

I have always heard of people talking about this coffee shop’s prawn noodle, how good it is and how difficult it is to get a seat during lunch hours and also, how unimaginably warm the coffee shop is. In search of good food, I went ahead to try it. It’s a pretty decent prawn noodle, even though it took us 15 minutes to queue for order and another 15 minutes to wait for the noodles.
